Detailed Reviews
I stayed for three days and I must day that I have no major complains. The rooms were clean, I had a nice TV with cable, the air conditioner worked perfectly, and the pool seemed very tempting. However, there are certain things that this hotel could improve to make up for a better stay. For example, the pool welcomes you with a sign that warns you that neither drinks nor food are allowed in the area. Really? If I can't enjoy a cold beer with a can of peanuts while I chill at the pool then this is not the place for me. My wife, my parents and I felt like criminals smuggling Coronas and Doritos into the pool. (I must say that this was by far the funnest part of our stay). I think that Andy (the hotel owner) should rethink this policy and be perhaps a little bit more flexible. As for the restaurant, the food was good and fairly priced, but the place closed too early (around 9:30) even when the sign outside said that closing time was at 11:00. A couple of vending machines with sodas, coffee, and snacks wouldn't hurt either, as well as a game room with a ping pong and/or pool table. Overall, I would give this hotel 3 out of 5 stars because of the abovementioned reasons, but if these things were to be improved, I wouldn't think twice about staying there again.

This is a great little place with clean rooms and a great bar and restaurant. The rooms were clean and the staff was great. Also has a great pool to cool off in after a day on the water.

This is a Caribbean waterfront hotel/restaurant located in the southern part of Puerto Rico, a lovely location.
After an excellent tour of the Jobos Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Aguirre P.R. (thanks, Ernesto) the four of us went over to Salinas We arrived about 1:30 PM, sat in the El Pelicano bar and decided to have a "light lunch" so we all ordered appetizers from the menu. The food was tasty, the service very good, and the portions were more than we were able to finish the amount we were served.
We were stay the night at the hotel so we rested in our rooms until dinner time. The rooms were clean, cool, and comfortable with two double beds to a room, cable TV, internet access, and adequate hot water for a shower (not always the case in PR hotels).
About 7:30 we went over to the restaurant for dinner. One couple split a pasta dish with a shrimp and scallops Alfredo sauce and they had to leave some pasta to have room for a piece of pineapple cheese cake. My wife decide to go light and ordered shrimp Asopao (soup). It was delicious and she wound up with containers to take home. I tried a seafood soup and it was loaded with all types of seafood in a light tasty soup. We have a container of that also.
Again very pleasant and helpful service, a great clean room, a excellent food.
The next morning we grabbed a Continental breakfast were on our way
A wonderful stay!

The Manatee Eco Resort is a very nice and clean waterside inn. We had a room with queen bed that was more than comfortable for three days. Do not look for a resort type of inn like Marriott or Hilton, but rather a cozy inn environment that is very clean and comfortable. The bed leads to a good night sleep and the area is nice and quite. The rooms are cleaned daily with no musty orders or sand on the floors. Staff is friendly and very helpful by helping with directions and/or items that you may need. We felt quite at home and will return.
Breakfast is continental held in a small room, but you can take it back to your room. It consists of dried cereals, fruit, bread that you can toast, juice and coffee. He also has something sweet on the table such as donuts or sweet rolls. The coffee is very good and they keep the pots full. Breakfast

Ana and I decided to check out the coastal areas around Salinas and Jobos. We ran into Manatee Eco Resort and Restaurant. The owner (Andrew) was nice enough to show us a room for a possible future stay. Just a very nice man, he even got some bread and fed his pet fish in the mangroves for us. On top of that, Andy and his wife are bilingual and that really helps me.
We managed to get our schedules rearranged and ended up staying the night. Very nice place, extremely clean, we felt safe fishing off the dock after dark (no fish, but it was low tide and bad solunar period).
The restaurant is very nice also, but if you want to order the house specialty (I forget the name, but a seafood alfredo), either be very hungry or split it between 2 or 3 people.
Overall; it is a very nice place to relax with good company and at a very reasonable price.
We’ll be going back next week and hopefully the fish are hungry.

We enjoyed our overnight stay at the Manatee. It is a bit off the beaten track but fit in perfectly with our travel plans as we toured the island. The accommadations are very basic , the room was clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly, helpful and bilingual. The small but very clean and cozy pool and outdoors sitting were an unexpected delight, very enjoyable. The restaurant was a real surpise it was a huge and the night we ate there featured live entertainment . The food was well served and very good. There did appear to be other restaurants in the area but the streets were very dark and diffcult to navaigate in the day since were were not familiar with the area so we decided not to explore at night.

We stayed at this resort on February 10, 2016. Our room with 1 bed was clean, comfortable, and small. (Two bed rooms are bigger.) The complex includes 2 buildings that have rooms, a nice pool and recreational area, large gravel parking areas, a large restaurant, and a boat ramp. A minimal continental breakfast was included in the room rate.
This place in on calm, protected Salinas Bay. Numerous sailboats were anchored there for the winter. We rented a kayak and explored the anchorage and the mangrove islands. There are manatees there, but we did not see them.
We ate dinner in the El Pelico restaurant on site and had the best meal that we have ever had in Puerto Rico. Andy, the owner manager, has contacts with local fishermen. The seafood in the restaurant is fresh and local. I picked a fat Carribean lobster from a tank in the restaurant. My wife had a fish that still had a few loose scales on it. Better yet, the restaurant lets one choose the way your seafood is cooked and what sauces/seasonings you want on your food. We are from the Chesapeake Bay area. We catch and eat fresh seafood. Most Puerto Rican restaurants submerge the delicate tastes of seafood in spices, onions, or garlic. Not so here, unless that is what you want.
Some tips: it appears that this section of Salinas is a summer place for Puerto Ricans. A mile - long stretch of waterfront roads has 25 restaurants! The resort has maps available. Get on from them before you go there. The numerous small roads in this section of town constitute an unfathomable maze. GPS won't help. For breakfast or lunch, visit one of the local bakeries. Puerto Rican bakeries usually have good food and baked goods.

.We ask the waiter to get us a table, he got us a table, we made an order with the waiter around 4:45pm, at 5:15pm we ask the waiter does it take long for dinner to be served, waiter said "no", will be right away with your order, we waited till 6:20pm we got up and told the waiter thank you we will eat somewhere else and left very disappointed, this was a disrespect for the time lost waiting for the dinner we ordered to be served. This was a bad experience for me and my wife, we will never visit this place again, thumbs down for this place..

Response from ManateeEcoResort, Owner at Hotel Manatee Eco Resort Inc
Responded Feb 21, 2016
I am very sorry for your experience, and I would have done what you did. It was brought to my attention after you had left. We made changes the same night. If you would give us a second chance, I can assure you, you will see our service has improved. Andrew R. Halko

Not as charming as expected. Air conditioning was mediocre at best in room #26. It took forever to cool, the bathroom had no air conditioning and it was hotter than the 90°F outside. No paper cups/ face tissues... The little fridge was unplugged when we arrived, and it took too long to cool the bottled water we brought. There were two flies in our room that annoyed us all night. Wi-Fi was sloooow and inconsistent.
Otherwise, it was clean. 8-(

We wondered into this place when following the Ruta Gastronomica in Salinas. What a delight. This is a boutique hotel with everything one needs to have a quiet, comfortable stay. Clean room, very comfortable bed, nice people, views of the water. All at a very reasonable rate. What more can one ask for!
