This was our second time staying at the Darrington, this time I was quite dissapointed especially after such a pleasant stay the first time round. The decor in the rooms and corridors is dated and dirty, paint hanging off the ceiling in the bathroom and scuff marks all over the walls in the bedrooms, which are themselves quite small in...

£60 per night for a twin room is ok. Thats just it OK. This hotel was obviously until recently a Travel Lodge. Right down to the signage for rooms and reception directions. The staff were welcoming, pleasant, friendly and efficient. The hotel is, tired, grubby and dishevelled. Beds uncomfortable and very worn, bathroom grubby and non functioning shower. In general...

The hotel is in desperate need of re-decoration and upgrading. It was also absolutely dirty, the walls / doors etc were so grimy. The only saving grace was that the bed linen was clean. Hasten to add, we complained and were asked how much were were willing to pay ? On the basis that we had stayed the night (no...

late booking, late arrival at 11 pm, had a long wait to check in, wi -fi not working, advertised as small double, but it was tiny. Big posters advertising money off rooms and breakfast for loyalty card members which I hold, but for some reason we did not quality, never did work that one out!!

The only reason I'm giving two stars is for the friendly staff. Stayed here for the past five days. The twin room was very small, barely enough room to store my two suitcases. Vague, omnipresent smell of mold a little off putting. Constant construction work going on from early in the morning until who knows when, right outside the bedroom...

Convenient for A1, hotel reception staff helpful and friendly, pub bar staff friendly and pub food good. If you are expecting Premier Inn style breakfast as they charge Premier Inn prices you will be bitterly disappointed. Full English was ok but 'fresh' fruit had obviously been around for quite a few days and choice of pastries etc for the Continental...

Went for tea with family. Sticky tables. Place looked tired and a bit grubby. Food was average but nothing amazing. Even though it's fairly cheap don't think I will be in a rush to go back. Worlds smallest kids indoor play area right next to the toilets!!!

Stayed as a couple at the Darrington. Room was comfy, and the Restaurant had good beer and food....but... To be roused from bed by persistent knocking on the door only to be confonted by either a Pimp or a Pervert offering a "threesome" is totally unacceptable. I informed the manager, who seemed to take no interest. My lady friend could...

We booked to stay at the Darrington at short notice when our niece got married at the nearby Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel. Upon arrival we where greeted by a pleasant receptionist who efficiently checked us in. The receptionist also kindly booked us a taxi to take us to the wedding reception. We chose to have a drink in the attached pub...

From the decor it's obviously at one point been a Premier Inn, however the fixtures and fittings maybe of that previous brand but the standard is more Premier Bin than Premier Inn now. Pros - Yes there are some... Handy for A1 & road links. Comfortable bed. Prices very reasonable in restaurant. Food really good. Cons - way too many!...
