We stayed at Hotel Yakunah for 4 nights in December. The property was gorgeous and very well maintained. The room was lovely -- very spacious, high ceilings, and a large bathroom. We enjoyed having drinks and watching live music at the bar, and the owners were very accommodating of our vegetarian needs (in fact, it was the best food we...

While I did not stay at this hotel, I did frequent the restaurant and bar a few times. On a positive note, the gardens and main areas are quite lovely. However, the attitude of the staff and owners leaves a lot to be desired; it is not their pleasure to serve you, it is their chore . The place is...

Hotel Yakunah is a lovely property. My husband and I stayed there for a two night getaway while touring the Yucatan. The pool and grounds are meticulously maintained. Our room was large and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the service was terrific. The owners are friendly and accommodating. They have a wonderful "Mi Casa es Su Casa" attitude and...

This building in which this hotel is housed is truly beautiful. It has high ceilings with fantastic tile floors, each room having a different design, stained glass windows, beautiful antique light fixtures. It's nicely decorated, both inside and out. There's a small pool, with beautiful plantings, seating, etc. around. Our room was large and light, with much character. Being inside...

We spent 4 weeks at the Hotel Yakunah in Jan and Feb 2011. We stayed in the apartment. The grounds were like a little oasis, lovely gardens, very tranquil. Gerben, the host is a terrific cook and Elke is a wonderful hostess. We met lots of fun people during our stay and had a great time. Ramon, the taxi driver...

Spent 2 nights in February and had a good, standard inn/B&B experience. We arrived on a late flight (500 pesos fixed cab fare from Merida airport) and the night man, Ray, was standing by to cheerfully show us our room and serve us a drink. Room was large, nicely decorated, with adequate amenities. Breakfasts were good, cooked to order. Pool...

There are not enough words to describe the wonderful stay we had at this Hotel. Gerben and Elke had a vision with this property that shows how talented they are once you step inside the front doors. Then it just keeps getting better from there. We traveled during what is considered low season. We normally hit the ground running, but...

We just came back for a 3 weeks stay at Hotel Yakunah in Progreso. We have been there several times, and every time we come we are more impressed. The Hotel is located in a charming traditional Mexican beach house and the ‘old days feel’ is combined with modern amenities and an exquisite upkeep of the public areas, gardens and...

If you're traveling to Progreso, there's only one place to stay and this is it. Quaint , friendly... your hosts are wonderful. It has more of a B&B vibe then a hotel. Don't miss Gerben's breakfast. Just a short walk to the restaurants and market, but far enough that it's quiet. We will be back!
