The Coach House Inn provided comfortable accommodations with spacious grounds while we explored the beautiful Tobermory area. The owners are very friendly and follow up with guests to ensure they're comfortable. This accommodation is priced well and provides everything as advertised.

The coach house was perfect for our one night stay. The rooms are very clean. Three adults and a dog stayed in a room. The rooms are tight with not a lot of room to walk around the beds and furniture and the bathroom is updated but tiny. It worked perfectly for us. There is a small fridge in the room, wifi and tv with many channels.
It is just a few minutes from the town of Tobermory and a few minutes from the National park, making it a great location, although there is nothing in walking distance for restaurants etc.

Stayed overnight to catch the ferry to Manitoulin, Supper hours in restaurant were very late and breakfast hours opened very late as well. Problems with TV reception was very frustrating, staff were not able to rectify but did provide a discount on booking price. Lots of room and accommodation for our puppy.

I hardly write reviews which are negative and unfortunately this is one.

We recently visited this hotel booking two rooms. The hotel is an older motor inn style with some areas in the rooms being refurbished ished. Eg. Bath shower. The rooms and hotel are a bit tired and show their wear with scratched furniture . Room cleanliness was good. No problems other than the room rate was high for the relative value,

We stayed for one night and were not impressed with the lax covid precautions being taken. There was a large family party ( apparently connected with the management of the inn) on going throughout the evening with folks circulating in the office area at times without face masks in the general public area and running around the property. After 11 pm the party started some fireworks celebrations.which woke us up as we were asleep early due to early wake up to make travel connections.

The other area of concern was the lack of internet availability. All four of us could not connect any of our devices to the internet thru their wifi. When we were able to sign in, we were immediately kicked out by spotty service or slow internet or dropped signal. The front desk after 3 visits advised their internet service provider was very slow and that was that. Then my question is why advertise free wifi.? We never book a hotel without internet access as its an important travel planning tool. Very disappointed with the lack of wifi connection.

Finally, while we recognize it's tough to operate a facility in these times ( hard to offer a free breakfast) there is an expectation that promised amenities will be delivered and that guests will enjoy a peaceful night's sleep and a safe environment. So based on these factors I am giving it a 2. Address the covid and wifi issues it would rate much higher. Would I return? NO.

Until this year, I had been a long time customer (20+ years) of the Coach House Inn. Under new owners, I have moved all my business elsewhere as my experience was horrible. Previous owner was spectacular and I booked $20k worth of rooms there every year for our dive groups. Last year, new owners took over and the experience was awful beyond words. 2 days before I was to arrive with 80 people, they phoned and said the rate was almost $100 more per night and if I didn't like it, I could just not come (despite knowing we had the entire hotel booked for a weekend event). My take on that was it was unethical, irresponsible and insensitive. Likely illegal too. They asked us to move other weekends because they overbooked despite our bookings having been in place for over 2 years (on a contract) and we saw other guests get the same treatment. Even when they knew they were overbooked they didn't tell everyone and were just turning people away when they arrived or allowing them to sleep in their cars, including a lady and her elderly mother. Absolutely no business ethic. If you want surprises and to be mis-treated, book here. And for goodness sake don't try and get an early morning coffee. For the same $ you can book right downtown at a reputable place like the Princess Hotel where they have a great restaurant on site, free parking and are right downtown. Significantly better value, nicer rooms, better location and the people there care about you having a great stay with them. In fact they go out of their way to make it happen.

We had a similar experience to the last reviewer. Not sure where the rooms advertised online were but our room didn't look anything like the ones in photos online. We kept wishing the days would end quicker so we could check out as soon as possible. When we first entered, we were hit with a very musty mouldy smell that we couldn't air out despite having the window constantly open. Turning on the AC made the room even mustier. We walked into 2 dead flies in the room and for some reason more flies and bugs kept emerging (we couldn't figure out from where). The porch was full of webs and trapped bugs so we avoided walking under it. All this made us paranoid so we Lysolled everything and didn't use the blankets and avoided the room as much as possible. Our highlight was leaving. Next time we will pay the extra $30 to stay at the bigger motels.

I have stayed here many times before and this year the place has gone completely down the hole. New owners. No free breakfast anymore. The front desk staff won’t even say hello or goodbye or acknowledge you when you walk in. We were supposed to pay when we got there in cash but they charged the credit card without telling us anyways before we even arrived. If you want more towels or blankets or pillows good freaking luck because you won’t get them. The heater in the room didn’t work. The sink, toilet, and shower especially did not drain at all and we had to call someone three times to come look at it, and even then the shower still took well over an hour to drain. Don’t drink their coffee or tea unless you like muddy water. No hair dryer in the room either. The lady at the front desk was especially snotty and made rude comments to us. Too bad about this place because it used to be so welcoming and great. Won’t be back

I booked this motel considering their decent reviews on google, which i now realise are pretty old, most of the recent ones are exactly how i felt at this pathetic motel. It is shady and dirty. Looks like there has been a change in ownership recently and the new guys dont know how to run it. We called them up a day in advance requesting for an early check in due to a change in our itinerary and we were told that we would have a room at 12:30, we asked them for a confirmation as we had a 6month old and a sr citizen with us, and the lady on the phone reassured us that we would have a room at 12:30. Upon arrival at 12pm, there was a woman at the reception who dismissed us straight away that we would not have a room at 12;30, and started teaching us how the check out time is 11am, and we wouldnt want to enter a dirty room. We kept telling her that we were promised a room at 12:30, but she kept repeating her logic of check out and check in times. She was very very rude to us, and told some staff of theirs to go get the previous occupant out so that they could start getting the room ready for us. We left and came back at 12:30, this time a kid named Neil was sitting there, and he said the same thing, he even misbehaved with my wife, yelled at us and asked us to leave, cancelling our booking, leaving us nowehre to go to! And we had a 6month old and a senior citizen with us..We then found a really beautiful hotel closer to the flower pot cruise bording point - the Adventure Inn, such a beautiful property with courteous staff!

Just avoid this motel at all costs! Save your $$ avoid being harassed by their staff! You have so many reasons to NOT stay there!

We stayed in room 10 and 14. The bedroom had many flies and the toilet wasn't cleaned properly. The bathroom door did not close. A lot of force was needed to shut and open the door. The wifi also did not connect on our phones and when it did, nothing loaded. The bedroom also had an odd smell to it and the washrooms are really small. One of the bedrooms even had the sink outside of the washroom due to how small it was. Ruth also had a rude attitude. We had prereseved our stay and when we came in she accused me of lying about the number of guests staying when I had specifically told her there were 8 of us. Ruth did not show much kindness and had definitely forgotten about the saying ''the customer is always right.''

I have stayed at the Coach House over several years. I'm disappointed to say that my most recent experience leaves me feeling much less than impressed. Last year, when we checked in, the staff tried to tell me that the price had increased since the time of my booking. This year, we have been told that the price was going to increase by greater than 25%! I have also seen other customer being told, at the time of check in, that their room rate had increased and if they did not want to pay the new prices, then they could go elsewhere (Tobermory is very booked up in summertime) so the customer had no choice but to pay the higher price. I also saw a group of approximately 6 people show up and the hotel had "lost" their reservation, so they had to sleep overnight in their vehicles! Overall, I am saddened that the Coach House has resorted to these practices and recommend people choose other hotels!
