Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the Peacock for 3 nights and had a great time! The motel is very clean and in a perfect central location. The woman at the front desk at check in was very friendly and helpful with suggestions on places to eat and swim. We had a room with two double beds which was spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 children. The rooms weren’t overly large but we didn’t spend much time in there anyways. From the motel you could walk to most central places in Tobermory. I would maybe suggest to bring your own pillow as the ones in the room were a little flat. Overall we had a great stay!

This was a cute little motel and VERY close to everything in Tobermory! Right at the centre and walking distance to the harbour and the dock for cruises. The place was very clean. Bathroom was very clean too. The beds were ok and the pillows aren't too comfy but who cares..the price is perfect and the location couldn't be better. Bring your own kettle and coffee/tea if you want some.
Really impressed with how clean this place is ESP since they're pet friendly!!! I have asthma and I had no problems at all.
Will definitely be returning

This is a really quaint, clean, upgraded motel, in a perfect spot for travellers and easy walking distance throughout Tobermory. Fresh appearance, nicely appointed for such small rooms, and could have been really comfortable. Unfortunately, it appears they forgot to upgrade the bed during the improvements. The mattress was lumpy and creaky, which did not provide for a good night's rest. We left at daybreak because the car was more comfortable. 😕

I booked a room for this coming weekend but had a cardiovascular event that landed me in the hospital late last night. I still gave this place over two day’s notice (55 hours) but because it was half a day shy of their excessive 3 day cancellation policy, I was charged almost $200. Even after explaining that I had had a medical emergency, they would not make an exception. I would never again book with this motel and will be passing my experience with them on to my close circle and the wider community. Tobermory is a busy place, especially with travel being locally-focused this summer, and Peacock Villa will have no shortage of bookings for this coming weekend I’m sure. Well, they’ve just made double the profit, instead of using some discretion with their rules and having some compassion for others. Greedy much? Do we need this kind of treatment especially in this day and age? If you want to be treated like a bank account and not a human being, this is the place to book with. If I could give them zero stars I would.

I have never written a review before, but felt I had to,after our stay. Female office staff didn't even say hello after we had waited a 1/2 hour for the office to open. Cleaning staff abrupt with us. When we asked for pillow case that we didn't have the first night (because the office was closed again at 7pm after just being closed at 2 pm) they said they considered pillow shams, as pillow cases, and made me feel like I had the problem. The bathroom was unacceptably small...no airconditioning...small cabin like room for $150+tax a night. Never experienced such a Terrible sham! I'd be pushing to give it a 3 1/2 * rating, more like a clean 2 1/2*. Not sure how it got a 4 rating...not sure if we just got a bad room on a bad day?

I stayed at Peacock Villa for two nights with my dog in Sept. 2021. It was excellent - comfortable and quiet. I have already booked my stay for Sept. 2022. From their website it appears that they may no longer be pet friendly, but since my dog passed away in January, that will not be an issue for me. I'm glad I took him for a last trip up north last year.

3rd time at Peacock, the rooms are clean and nice with windows in back and front. Friendly staff, quiet, worth the detour. Little gem in Tobermory. Dog friendly huge bonus. Cabins also available. #1 in Tobermory.

We found the accomodations in Tobermory to be ridiculously expensive without merit. I booked our stay at Peacock Villa motel beacuase they were basically the only ones with an opening and the website looked terrific.
The website makes the place look charming, cozy and almost upscale. The only aspect of that perception that was correct was the overly "cozy" nature of our room. I have NEVER seen such a small room meant to be used by four people in my life -- not even in Europe. Literally, the dimensions of the room couldn' t have been more than 12ftx11ft. The bathroom was so small that you couldn't even bend over in any direction without hitting your head on a wall. (NOT KIDDING) When you sit down to use the commode your knees are literally IN the shower. The bathroom dimensions couldn't have been more than 3ftx3.5ft -- with the shower being counted as floor space. Since there was certainly no way to change in the bathroom, everyone had to clear out of the room until, one by one, we could get ready for our day in privacy. When showering, it felt like the only thing that got clean was our heads and shoulders. Even my scrawny 12 year old said -- "I can't even clean my feet because I keep bumping into the shower when I try to bend over." Even folks who aren't claustrophobic would begin to feel anxious in this room -- for people like me and my husband who don't like to feel "trapped"; this room was a nightmare, literally.
Furthermore, there is no way to keep the room cooled other than open windows and a lame ceiling fan. Forget modesty or privacy -- all rooms are ground level and if you want air to circulate, you can't close the blinds because it would block the breeze, so you're left with the blinds open, windows open and people strolling back and forth in front of your room, looking in, all hours of the day and night. It's pretty disconcerting to wake up in the morning with a stranger literally staring at you in bed from the sidewalk in front of your room.
In fairness, I do have to say that the room was pretty clean. The towels were laundered well and the sheets were clean but the blankets had seen better days.
The inn keeper was initially nice but totally clueless. The families on either side of us were allowed to carry on loudly both days we were there. They got up very early and proceeded to make all kinds of racket in their room and then moved to the sidewalk in front of our room and commenced talking loudly to one another and playing with their children on the sidewalk, screaming and yelling for more than an hour, unabated by management.
Finally after two days of dealing with the intolerable accomodations, we left a day early and I asked for my money back -- we made sure that we left well before check out. The motel owner told me that they have a three day cancellation policy and refused to refund our money, even though they re-rented our room before night's end. (We checked) In other words, they double dipped on our room and didn't refund our money -- $100 per night. My emails have gone unacknowledged.
All things considered, I would not recommend this motel to anyone. The website is misleading and the owner does not provide customer service.

Peacock Villa's management is in another world..either that or their customers are so abundent that they feel they can treat them horribly as there's always somebody else. Unfortunately I fear the latter.
We tried to book a July weekend in April 2012. It seems in April the hotel does not accept phone calls...only email. I emailed and received a response after 1.5 days. After a few more back and forths regarding rooms etc (which also had a days lag in between) we agreed on a booking of 2 simple hotel rooms. They then emailed saying they want me to send my credit card number in an email to their "Yahoo" email account. This is ridiculous! I asked them to either provide a phone number so I could call them at their convenience and my expense in order to give them my business but they never responded back. Since then I have booked elsewhere.
So... to sum up...if you wawnt to be treated like garbage then Peacock Villa is the place to go!

I have booked this motel with my husband since our trip was planned last minute and all the other hotels/motels were booked. I had 5 people stay for 3 nights (my in-laws) and I stayed with my husband for 2 nights with our small miniature schnauzers who are known for their barking. We wanted to book three nights there but they had only two nights available therefore we booked our first night at another motel which The Coach House which had a much better service and rooms then this place. The first day there I came by with my husband in the morning to visit his family and we left our non- shedding schnauzer in their room for a half an hour, it was past 9 am. He started to bark for half an hour on and off, I came to get him as I heard that but a middle aged lady ( I assume the main one from the reception) came to the door, turned to me and very rudly infront of my in-law family and people that might have been around started to rudley tell me off. I apologized and she continued on and on...
Now..
I am not saying I did nothing wrong.I apologized to her and said it wont happen again..but the way she handled it infront of my family I haven't seen in a long time made me furious at her lack of costumer service.
My husband and I were the ones who gave them business of booking three rooms which cost $700.
How she handled it was very unprofessional and immature. She could have called me in and told me one on one instead she created a stink and a scene about it.
I would have no problem paying extra for the dog staying in that room, I didnt have to be notified by her yelling.
They advertise as a pet friendly motel which it is obvious they are NOT.
They have about 10 rules for pets hanging on the back door of each hotel room.
Our dog was quiet and made no mess the whole stay there as he is doesn't shed or slobber.
Their rooms are small and rooms with two beds don't have enough space for them.
I think the receptionists should be trained to work with customers better.
A younger receptionists messed up on our mastercard transaction as well.
I am going to offer my free advertising and make sure no one I know ever stays there again.
