We had a wonderful two days with Tessy and her staff. The hotel and restaurant are family run with a friendly and clean atmosphere. It is located in the middle of the action of Little Tub Harbour - close to ferries, watersports and the Bruce trail.

We ate two breakfasts and two dinners in the dining room. Each meal was thoroughly enjoyed by every member of our party. The Greek salad was the best I’ve had. The pizza and whitefish were also excellent.

This is not the best view, or the fanciest accommodations. But it is family run, family friendly and great value!

Only hotel open this season: Tobermory is empty, everything is closed. The reception is pleasant but particularly slow. Our room is dated but clean. There is a small fridge on the dresser that we had to unplug because of the noise. Parking is on the street.

The location of this hotel is excellent and had good, close, free parking.
The reception area was not inviting and receptionist not welcoming. The rooms were very dark but comfortable with a good size balcony.
Breakfast was good and staff friendly and helpful

We were at the Tobermory Princess for 2 nights. It is not a luxury hotel but the rooms had all amenities needed - queen bed, small fridge, table and 2 chairs, and a long balcony (the length of the room) with 2 chairs. The bathroom had a tub/shower, vanity, blow dryer and toiletries. The rooms were clean and more than adequate for the location. The hotel has a restaurant and bar. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The staff, many of them young people from Greece, were extremely friendly and accommodating as were the owners. We would highly recommend the Tobermory Princess to anyone visiting the Bruce.

We stayed there for 2 nights in May. The exterior of the Princess Hotel is beautiful, what a lovely site to drive up to. The location is very good. The parking is very good. It is within walking distance to everything in Tobermory. The view from outside the hotel is lovely. I think the hotel might be suffering some financial setbacks, or be having staffing issues, as the hotel room we stayed in was not clean in terms of general expectations, and the food in the restaurant was not very good. The owners/managers are friendly. The fridge smelled strongly of fish (the manager said the whole room had before it was cleaned, and kindly gave us baking soda for the fridge) and there were blood stains inside on the comforter not noticeable on check-in, (the front staff was indifferent, did not care, after our stay we were offered $25 off if we stay at the hotel again. Thank you for that gesture). The wifi didn't work, and the hotel kindly reduced our rate by $20 per night. We are grateful for that, it was kind. Friends of ours were staying at the Bruce Anchor motel at the same time, and said the Bruce Anchor motel is very clean, no problems with wifi, and it is less expensive. The room we stayed in at the Princess had a lovely private balcony. Some of the rooms have views and are larger, but might be more costly. There is an elevator for those with luggage. In the restaurant, hardly any customers and the customers beside us were loud and verbally rough on the serving staff, must have been hard for the staff.

First...absolutely nothing to do there. Everything is still closed for the season so literally hiking was the only thing to do. Which fine. But 10hrs of hiking doesn't sound like fun and check in wasn't until 4pm.

So we decided to go to the hotel restaurant for lunch. Had to wait for them to clean a table for us but it wasn't even half full. Then even with a sign saying wait to be seated after they cleaned the table the hostess just comes up to us and says go around the corner, table at the back.

She brings us the breakfast menu even though at this point it's 11:20. She comes back and asks if we want coffee or tea. I ask if I can have an iced tea please. She says so you want a tea with ice in it? Or on the side?

Finally she has to go ask if they have real iced tea. I go to the bathroom as I come out she stops me as says I'm sorry I didn't bring you a lunch menu I'll bring one right to you. That would be great thanks.

20min later we finally see our 'server' who brings us the lunch menu and makes this huge production about he's making an exception for us giving us the lunch menus as they were still serving breakfast. By this time it's 11:50.

The place was dirty and smelled bad. So between it all we chose to make other plans. On the breakfast menu it states that if the breakfast special is ordered after 11am the price increases from $9-$12 so one would assume breakfast is over at 11am.

At best I would say this a day trip town or camping but would not recommend this hotel at all.

Our experience was bad from the start. They wouldn’t answer questions or help with booking over the phone. When we arrived they didn’t even welcome us; they just said check ins not till four come back - it was 10 to 4. Then wen we came back at 4 no one was there to check us in. There were spider webs and spiders all over the lobby - at least 6. When we got our room, there was a bag of trash and dirty dishes left right at our door which wasn’t cleaned up for over 24 hours! The beds/pillows/ bedding are very uncomfortable. The light fixtures were broken. The walls are dented. Things were not being cleaned (which is especially worrisome during covid). There was a black out and their emergency lights didn’t even work. They said we could use our cellphones for light … no water or power for over 12 hours and they didn’t even offer water bottles or check in with guests. You can here everything. Every time someone coughs or walks or has a shower or flushes the toilet, it is so loud! Min 3 night stay and we left after the 2nd night.
All in all was very unimpressed.

Nick our waiter who is a dive master on the side as well was so super and attentive with us. As per all the restaurants in Tobermory and the stupid rules not put in place by our liberal government about the cerb most staff didnt show back for work, but the owners of this great spot persevered and ended up with a great staff. Their pasta was amazing and the bread and olive oil served which they import was delicious. Thank you princess hotel restaurant staff and we are glad we made a reservation and your patio has great views of the harbour.

We stayed at the Tobermory Princess Hotel the weekend of August 6, 2022 for a wedding. The rooms were updated, clean and the balcony a welcome bonus. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We ate a few times in the restaurant and the food was fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. We highly recommend staying at the Princess Hotel.

Something we’ve never done before, anywhere in the world. We took one look at the check-in area and the condition of the restaurant toilets and made the decision not to stay there and forfeit our booking. If a hotel can’t get those basics absolutely right, then it’s time to look elsewhere.
That and the overwhelming smell of cooking.
A painful lesson in business is to look at your product through the objective eyes of prospective customers.
