I started my stay at the Sol a little bit worried about the food, but I was blown away (in particular, the salad bar is top-notch especially at dinner time, the fried rice bar is Amazing, and the plantain fries are a must-try!) Our stay was plagued a bit by lots of water issues in our rooms causing the toilets...

Been there during the mourning week so there was no entertainment but our days were filled with quiet old cuban music, which was fantastic. Rooms are set up in bungalows spread out through lots of vegetation, good restaurants and very friendly staff.

We keep returning to the same resort as we feel we are getting good value for our money. The staff are friendly and we love the resort property. At times it can be a little harder to find staff that speak very good English, but there are some and quite a few have some basic English. If not, pointing and...

This was my first time to Cayo Santa Maria. The drive from the airport went over a cause way thru the ocean to the island. The hotel was pleasant and the staff courteous, friendly and helpful. Buffet was average for Cuban fare but their Pizza restaurant that was open for lunch was exceptional. The Picua restaurant on the beach had...

This was our third visit to Sol Cayo Santa Maria, and it suits us just fine. This a VERY basic resort, without luxuries or much in the way of amenities, however, it is clean, quiet, safe and quite reasonably priced, so you get what you pay for. The food is ok,not great, and the rooms, although clean, may have some...

My complaint is: This is a really tired hotel. The biggest thing I couldn't get over was in the dinning room up in the rafters where the birds fly up too, They had no nets!! The birds would sit up there and poop and all the white/yellowish streaks were dripped down the boards, and this was just above were the...
