Had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Meals was good, selection of food is wide. Room was big and comfortable. View from the room was absolutely nice, facing the water and floor covered with snow. ❄️❄️❄️
This hotel was beautiful. We stayed at the non-smoking Lake View room with Tatami set up. Was calm and relaxed when the first stepped in to the room. The room was spacious and clean, it fragranced with the authentic Japanese wood, facing to the pretty...More
The view over Lake Toya and the fabulous indoor and outdoor onsen totally made up for the tired rooms and musty bathrooms. On arrival we were thankfully upgraded to a Lake View room from Mountain View and this really helped improve the in-room experience. The...More
Toya Kohan Tei offered the best of both worlds with their Japanese rooms with tatami sitting area and Western beds. We found the rooms comfortable and clean, albeit a little musty smelling (probably from age). View of Lake Toya was superb! Try to arrive early...More
We stayed here for 1 night in Dec 2016.
The room itself felt a little tired but it had a nice view of the lake from the window. We dressed ourselves in the Yukata provided and went for a bath.
I went to the bath...More

We stay in Hotel Kohantei so shuttle bus from and to Sapporo is included but not to the Chitose airport. You have to book the shuttle bus before hand. Instead of sending email request, ring direct to the hotel and book. If you go by JR, you have to pay a good sum and you still have to catch the bus to go to the hotel (bus service infrequent). The meeting area in Sapporo station is at the North Exit but there are more than 1 door and you have to be on left hand side of Douter Cafe to see the shuttle bus staff. We almost miss them because we stay watch at the wrong door.
The Onsen in Kohantel is excellent as there is an outdoor section looking into the view. No need to be embarrassed for nudity as everybody is equal. I was in the changeroom and woman cleaner comes in among all the nude men. Nudity in onsen is ordinary in Japan.
The lake is pretty but trekking around the lake passes through narrow footpath where big truck is driving all the time, so extra care needed.
