Pakse Hotel & Restaurant is ideally located in the historical heart of the city. Pakse is your gateway to southern Laos. French colonial buildings, evening- and day markets, shops and services (banks, airlines, money exchange, ...), as well as Mekong and Sedon rivers are just around the corner from us. Built in the early 60's by the last Prince of Champassak, Chao Boun Oum, completely renovated in 2003 it now reaches International standards whilst the traditional colonial influence/feel is preserved. The panoramic restaurant atop the hotel has become meeting hub of the city, serving traditional Lao, Western and fusion food, complimented by great wines, cold beers and fancy cocktails. The restaurant is set in a wonderful open-air green environment, away from mosquitoes, air-conditioners and traffic annoyances. The view of the city and the Mekong from here is all but stunning.

This is large and rather soulless hotel, apparently catering mostly to transients to or from the nearby Laos/Cambodia border. The hotel faces the Mekong river and has a very fine view of the river and city from its top floor restaurant. My room was spacious, with a pleasant terrace overlooking the river. It was clean and well furnished with a comfortable bed. A kettle and sachets of coffee are provided but unfortunately the coffee is pre-mixed with sugar and milk powder. About half of tourist coffee drinkers don't take it with milk, or sugar, or both. I'm one of these and I found the taste quite vile. Every other hotel in the region that I have stayed in offers separate sachets of coffee, powdered milk, and sugar -- a basic courtesy to guests. Unfortunately the coffee at breakfast was a muddy mess which nobody in my group could drink either. Otherwise this was a satisactory stay in an unremarkable hotel.

Very central and clean choice. The room was ok but looks better on the pictures.
Location: center of town which is rather uninspiring but convenient. Opposite is a good massage place.
Room: I had a standard double room which was a bit underwhelming. The bed is in an alcove which makes it a bit hard to get in to. Everything seems dated.
Breakfast: solid with good choice of asian and western food....they had station where scrambled eggs etc where freshly prepared.
Restaurant: on top floor with great view. Happy hour mojito was not great, not sure that there was much alc in. Food is mostly Western, some Asian food. Had an Asian dish which was so spicy that I barely could eat it.
Tours: I had planned to do 1 day a trip to the temple in Champasak. Very hard to organize, they offered a tuk tuk driver for the trip for USD 50. In the end I changed my plans and stayed one night in Champasak before moving on to the 4,000 islands. There is a travel agent in the building (not sure if part of the hotel) which help me organize this.

In one sentence: Good place, would stay here again, highly recommended.
The hotel is centrally located. Communication with staff after booking and prior to my arrival was timely and helpful. Airport pickup through the hotel worked perfectly. Also during my stay the staff was incredibly friendly.
As for the room, I initially booked a standard room – and then decided to upgrade during check-in as I felt I needed a bit more space. The deluxe room I had was very nice and clean. However, facing the sunrise side, you are best off to keep the curtains fully closed until the afternoon. I did not mind as I was doing activities all day. The bathroom is rather basic and could do with more lighting and at some point of time surely a makeover. Overall, a nice room and a comfy bed, also it was very quiet at night so I slept well.
The rooftop bar of the hotel offers great views and a stunning sunset. I had some drinks but did not have any food there. Breakfast at the hotel offered a limited selection but quality was good.

The hotel restaurant deserves 5 stars. We ate here twice - 100% satisfaction. Duck breast as ordered - medium rare, juicy and very tasty hamburger. Dessert, coffee and drinks at a high level. The view from the terrace restaurant is not the only argument. Very nice service. We recommend it wholeheartedly.

I had an 8 night stay in a standard inside room room.1 floor above reception. The only window looked out into the corridor but the room was quiet, bed linen and towels very clean and bed very comfortable. A mini bar, small flat screen T.V., writing desk, table with storage and free standing wardrobe with plenty of hangers. Very generous supply of free drinking water but no tea/coffee facility. The bathroom was the only disappointment with a large crack in toilet bowl, a toilet seat that would not stay up, mildewed stained shower curtain in walk in shower with tepid water and no hot water in basin for shaving. Both room and bathroom very spacious with nice flooring. The hotel had buffet breakfast, much the same every day, the egg bar had eggs of choice and brought to your table, the pastries and yoghurt a nice touch. The fitness room was well laid out with fresh towels, large flat screen T.V., modern equipment, ceiling fan and the air/con very efficient as was the one in my room with ceiling fan. The hotel's rooftop restaurant with nice views, happy hour[5 to 6 pm], good food at reasonable prices and good friendly service was a must and I ate there every night.

Lovely staff. Economy room looks like a cell. As regular rooms were full I opted for a Delux (got a friendly discount after some negotiation) Pleasant room. Bathroom could do with clean grout. Roof terrace was a nice spot for cocktails and dinner. Breakfast was good (home-baked bread and jams were especially good quality. Rice soup ok. Cooking station with egg & noodle options). Centrally located and 15 min from airport which makes it good for a 1 night stopover

Pros: 1) The location is good. It is a short walking distance to the market and shopping area. 2) The view from the rooftop restaurant is the best in the city. 3) The lobby/common area is very spacious and tastefully done. 4) The front desk staff is efficient and spoke decent English. Check-in/check-out process was fast. 5) There is a dedicated travel desk and they helped book all our transportation needs. 6) The WIFI is free with good speed and connectivity. 7) The breakfast is served early and the spread is decent. 8) The room and bathroom were clean. 9) The tariff is cheap.
Cons: 1) The food at the rooftop restaurant is terrible. We tried the bruschetta, the pizza, the pad-thai and all were remarkably insipid. 2) Our room was tiny and so was bathroom. There were not enough space to move around in our room.

We booked a basic economy room and therefore it was no surprise that the room was small with old furniture, but it was clean too. The hotel offers a very delicious breakfast with a great variety of local and western dishes. But the best thing is the rooftop restaurant. There you get great views over Pakse, the Mekong and to the mountains. We went there every afternoon to see the sunset and having a beer or a cocktail. The food they serve their was also very good.

It is an absolute disgrace to rent rooms with windows that have no function at all. It is a window that is blocked off with a box. So there is no way to let fresh air into the room and of course no daylight. The rooms are old and the beds are rock hard. It is a complete mystery to me how anyone can give a good review here. The only thing is the roof terrace, which is nicely decorated. Sleeping on these mattresses is almost impossible... Don't book here

I loved everything about this hotel. The location is excellent, right in the centre of things. We arrived at 6 am and got a room straight away. The room itself was small but very clean and the bed was enormous and soft which is unusual for Laos. The bathroom had a shower curtain which again is very rare and means you don't flood the entire bathroom. The breakfast was really varied, lots of fresh items, Asian options, fruits and pastries and an egg station. Coffee was decent too. Really nice feel throughout the hotel and the icing on the cake is the magnificent rooftop bar and restaurant. We didn't eat there but had a few beers on both evening since they had a great happy hour. Overall, really pleased with the level of service here and would 100% recommend it.

My dear you’ll have to call the hotel directly to find out if they have a room open. Unfortunately I’m just a previous customer that stayed at the hotel. You also might be able to find out the answer to your question by sending a email to the hotel. If I were you I’d try to call the hotel. When I was there there they had people working at the front desk who spoke very good English. I wish you the best of luck on your trip.
hello, and thanks for your interest with Paksé Hotel. Yes, all rooms have a small fride and TV. Other details can be supplies, do not hesitate. Best regards. Jérôme Letemplier.
