This was our 2nd visit this year, my Son has moved up to Downham from London and we are making the most of Thetford Forest E bike hire. Rooms are clean & comfortable, our shower was one of those you don’t want to get out of, great bar with open fire. Guinness was very smooth. Value for money is an understatement, the Full English Breakfast is top notch, mainly due to the fresh produce, friendly service, looking forward to our next visit, have eaten here of an evening before also that was very good also, great pies.

We had a lovely family lunch there today. The owners were excellent. I was a little nervous about eating inside and we were offered a seat in the restaurant by the open window. Very thoughtful. The food was great- very generous portions. We would definitely recommend.

Great hosts , all the staff were very friendly and very helpful. Charming bar area where we got to meet several locals . Food was lovely , great selection and the pie was out of this world . We stayed 5 days and I would recommend it to anybody. Glen & Wendy.

My sister and I recently popped in for a bite to eat with our two young children... we felt so unwelcome we walked out..., It was clear we were in their way and they didn’t want us there, the ladies comment when she saw us going? ‘’Take it your leaving then?’’ I was very upset. But pleased we found a Weatherspoon’s just down to road.

A really charming hotel. We stayed overnight while visiting family in the area. Huge comfortable and attractive room, large bathroom and plenty of teas etc on the hospitality tray. Having had Sunday lunch with the family we only wanted something light in the evening so we just had the whitebait and paté both if which were very good: generous portions and nicely presented. The bar is attractive, welcoming and characterful. Covid protocols observed. We wished we were staying for longer!

The whole place was grimy and in need of redecoration - the sink was cracked and chipped, stale water which is what you were supposed to use for tea/coffee YUCK not drinkable - en suite was too small to use - damp patches on the ceiling such a shame staff were friendly and helpful but grossly overpriced for such a tatty place - we would not stay here again.

Beautiful building but interior is very dated and mismatched.
Needs a good clear out and makeover. Stuffy room and uncomfortable bed.
Be careful on steep curved stairway to rooms!
This hotel could be really nice but needs work.
