The hotel rooms are quite noisy till about 10.00 from the noise in the bar.The beds are comfortable and the staff are polite.its got a rustic old feel to the rooms no bath and the shower is tricky to maintain a constant heating setting.the breakfast makes up for the rooms.

My chum booked me in here for 4 nights, I was made very welcome, bedroom clean and comfortable, food very good, tea, coffee and bottled water available in the room. Enjoyed meeting the locals in the bar each night. The town is clean and folk smiling and helpful. Loved the Market on Friday/Saturday. I do hope I can come back...

I may be biased as I have been visiting The Crown Hotel for over 30 years. The fact that I keep coming back may give a clue as to the unique atmosphere and quality of this very old establishment. The regular menu is typical pub food but the specials add subtle flavours to tempt anyone bored with the run of...

Pop in here in the winter months and there is a lovely roaring fire, no loud music and an excellent choice of food. You can eat in the pub or the restaurant. The ham eggs and chips are to be recommended. Beer and cider on tap and prices are reasonable. Decor is in keeping with the era of the pub...

If you require posh surroundings, new fixtures, and a shiny glass and metal environment, this place may not be to your liking. However, if centuries old buildings fitted with modern conveniences and friendly rural settings tickle your fancy, please stay here. I made a few friends here in less than 48 hours because the environment is so friendly (if you...

This was a beautiful old 16th Century coaching inn, steeped in character and quality period features and decor. My room was really interesting and had a quant old fireplace as a bit of a feature. Shower had to run a little while to get the hot water through. Breakfast was delicious and proof of this was that my baby boy...

This is the second time I have stayed at The Crown Hotel. Definitely a good place to stay. The hotel is very old and still has the original features. The room was clean and quiet, and the full English breakfast will keep you going for the whole day. I was made to feel welcome in the bar and enjoyed wide...

We had pre-booked to stay four nights and on arrival were asked if we would mind upgrading to a superking sized room at no extra cost. The room was very quiet as it was away from the bar area and although facing onto the road, we didn't get disturbed by the traffic. The bed was very comfy and we slept...

Been there today with my partner, ordered a large pork roast & small lamb roast. They brought out a large lamb roast & small pork roast & when they realised their mistake they tried to make us swap our meals rather than correcting them. 8/10 for food (although rather pricey) but 3/10 for customer service.

Called in en route from the station, decent place for a pint at the top of the hill, close to the town clock. A decent Pub slightly off the Main Street. I would describe this as a traditional place, rustic in its decor and frequented by locals. Good selection of ales with a pleasant atmosphere. Didn't eat on this occasion...
