This is a wonderful, heritage Inn on the Meldrum Bay harbor, where we spent our wedding anniversary weekend this year, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Having camped for many years at the Mississagi Lighthouse campground on the far west of Manitoulin Island we had been here many years before, but these current owners have outdone themselves. The waterfront inn definitely deserves its TripAdvisor awards! The outgoing owner Sharon could not have been more accommodating and friendly, her husband, an outstanding chef gave us delicious meals--especially the freshly caught whitefish and chips with such delicate batter on the fish! The room was cosy, quiet, and we loved seeing so many hummingbirds at the feeders as we sat on the porch that surrounds the inn. We also…
What an amazing place! Such history - we stayed in Al Capone’s old room - super cool. The beds were big enough for an adult and small child in each (ours are 4&6) or if you have kids who kick in their sleep like ours do there is room on the floor for an air mattress;). No air con but there is such a beautiful breeze you won’t miss it. Very clean and comfortable. Peaceful place, superb eats and the most genuinely sweet and helpful hosts you will ever have. Don’t miss out!
Warmth and hospitality exude in this charming Inn loaded with eclectic but comfortable decor. The food is locally sourced (mostly) and delicious, we had local fish that had been caught that morning and bought off the dock across the road! The portions are large and priced very reasonably- the key lime pie is to die for as the chocolate berry cake! Eggs in the morning are out of this world! The rooms are large and in keeping with the era of the Inn. The location is awesome- quiet, remote, and relaxing. The owners have honoured the history of the Inn, the town, and the Island. We would often walk after supper and chat with the locals- one couple in particular were so friendly and our chats with them were most definitely a highlight. The Island can be explored easily from…
Stopped for dinner and was blown away! Both myself and boyfriend were very impressed. The portions were great, the view is perfect and service was wonderful. If you are travelling to the island and want to explore West this is a definite stop. We were surprised that it wasn’t really that far of a drive from Mindemoya as well. We will definitely come back!
One of our go-to places on Manitoulin Island. Lake trout almondine for me and fish and chips for hubby. Key lime pie and orange apricot cardamom cheesecake for dessert. Amazing food, amazing view. Worth the drive to Meldrum Bay!
My husband have been returning to the Meldrum Bay Inn for about ten years now. We love the hosts Bob and Shirin. They make you feel very special and go out of their way to make your stay memorable! The decor is tastefully done highlighting the Inn's historical past with old photos, maps and antiques. The rooms are very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. Washrooms are shared but they have excellent showers! Thank you Bob and Shirin again for another great dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and a very comfortable overnight getaway!
For those of you who have followed my many reviews on Trip Advisor, you will know that I do not give out praise easily. Meldrum Bay Inn is one of those few places that has defeated my criticism as I cannot find a single flaw with my experience here. This is probably why I keep returning to this place. Everything from the unmatched service, to the amazing food, to the absolute peace of Meldrum Bay are all the ingredients to the perfect dish. If those are the things you are looking for, you are going to find it here.
Meldrum Bay Inn and Restaurant is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! The nourishment of this romantic venue is truly inspiring. The real gem are the owners Shirin and Bob! So much love and passion put into every little detail. The adorable historic building with 7 cozy rooms, beautiful dining room, parlor and covered outside veranda. The unique decor with collections from different parts of the world. The charm of the inn is so comforting, Making each and every guest feel right at home. I can't even begin to describe how incredible Shirin and Bob truly are. They are welcoming, personable, positive, honest, considerate, compassionate, friendly, helpful, courteous, respectful and deliver superior service with interaction and conversation to every guest. Shirin's passion…
My husband & I come by boat every summer. We always make a point of having dinner here at the beginning & end of our trip. Sharin, who owns it with her husband, always makes sure her guests are very well cared for. The food is excellent with all the fish coming right off the boats down the hill. We can't wait to see her next summer & have dinner here again! It's very special!! Ann & Sam
