We stayed for two nights. The heater didn't work and the staff were just fiddling with the knobs and said there was hot air coming from the heater. Room temperature was set to 30 and it was as good as not having heater at all. Door had to be slammed so it wouldn't beep. The safe didn't work and the...

The Shiner hotel is in a good location on the main rod of Zhongdian. Sme rooms have nice views of monastry on the far horizon. Comfortable large rooms . Breakfast was typical Chinese with limited Western items on buffet. Beds were extremly hard

We spend two nights in the Shiner Shangr-La, coming from Lhasa and travelling further to Lijiang. the hotel location is very good, only 20 minutes waölk from the "old town" (taxi 5 minutes - 7 Yuan). the internet was availible only part time with very low speed, most of the standard apps and websites did not open. The service was...

A not very comfortable room (and shipped sheets on our bed) and a bad breakfast then it took 21 minutes to check out. Maybe we both ah a touch of altitude sickness but we were not impressed.

What impressed us most about the Shiner hotel was the welcome! Our group was greeted with steaming hot and fragrant towels and delicious ginger tea. Our rooms were unusual...the beds were on platforms...but they were comfortable. The heat came on at 6 pm but there were nice electric blankets to keep us warm too. It was a nice experience and...

We stayed at this hotel late April 2012 and our guide mentioned that we were to stay in the Holy Palace but other travel agents said it was bad. The room had worn furinture and dirty carpet. We found empty match boxes in the draws which we used to stop the window rattling. The bathroom had mould on the shower...

Our travel agent booked us into the Shiner Hotel in Shangri-La. The hotel is a 20 minute drive from the Old Town. It is in an industrial area, with construction noise from early morning until 7 p.m. daily. The rooms have no heat between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., in spite of the very cold (2 degrees Celcius!) temperatures. The...
