We stayed here on the last night of our tour. The rooms are in two storey hexagonal buildings and are quite spacious. The restaurant was huge in comparison with the other hotels that we stayed at, but the service was a little slow. The food was fine, but we really didn't appreciate being serenaded at close quarters by the house band! The bar had a good range of cocktails but the wine was very expensive. One word of caution though, the tiles around the pool, the bar and reception get very slippery if it rains. I fell over on the tiles outside reception and ended up badly twisting my ankle. The hotel were very good about it and sent a nurse to our room to have a look at me, plus I saw a different nurse about it the following day. The reason I slipped over was because I was hurrying to find someone to help us get rid of a frog in our room. It's fair to say that the wildlife in Cuba is not at all shy about setting up camp in your hotel room!

Having read the reviews before our stay, we didn't have great expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised.
We stayed in one of the round huts, 1. floor, very clean and very quiet.
The buffet restaurant was perhaps not the most exciting, but it was ok.
The surroundings were wonderful, a small park with beautiful flowers.
Staff was very nice.

Mixed views on this hotel, where we stayed for 2 nights as part of a Voyages Jules Verne two weeks tour of Cuba. Rather far out of town, so unless one took a taxi, one had to remain within the hotel grounds. The rooms look nice from the outside, almost like rondavel Zulu huts with thatched tops. However although most of our 16 strong group were well satisfied with their rooms, ourselves and one other couple were not. We seem to have drawn the short straw.
Our room. Tiny; only one weak light in bedroom; no bedside lights; lights in cupboard and above basin not working; no plug in basin; one small stool, no chairs; no cupboards/shelves; no carpets/rugs; safe not working ('the master key is broken'); no balcony/chairs. Add to that when my wife was sitting on the loo, a frog jumped from the shower curtain onto her head! Pandemonium! On the other hand, the AC and shower worked and a request for extra pillows was dealt with within minutes.
Beyond the room, the hotel shop was firmly shut all day Monday (the main day we were there). Not very satisfactory. A quite nice pool area, but a lot of the people around it seemed to be locals and not hotel guests. Perhaps families of staff members. However well behaved and no problem.
Restaurant and food quite OK and with attentive staff. Also a suprising good song and dance show at the poolside in the evening.

The hotel and the room were beautiful and relaxing. The staff and waiters were friendly, prompt, professional, and attentive. Yanet and Yaumara made the experience much more enjoyable with all their efforts. The food had large portions and was great. It was a good atmosphere to dine. The pool had music playing and was a great size for many guests. The room was perfect for a romantic setting for any couple in separate houses. Would definitely go back again.

Hotel rooms are comfortable, clean and offer all you need during your stay. I stayed in a terraced flat and it was excellent, very spacious and bright. Also, I had no problem with power sockets, which is no standard in the country Excellent staff and food (for both breakfast and dinner). This is a very nice countryside spot which I would definitely choose again and recommend.

My wife and I had lunch at that restaurant and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent food and service we experienced.
Having eaten st a resort at Santa Maria, the food at El Palmar was far superior.
The service was also superior to that which we saw ay the hotel.
I highly recommend that establishment either for a short stay or a sumptuous meal.

We spent two months in Cuba - 7 nights in hotels and the rest were spent in casa particulares. We were in Santa Clara for 3 weeks and found the people in this city to be among the most friendly, sincere and caring on the island (and that is saying a huge amount). It was my favourite place because it is off the major tourist route but has great music, restaurants with very good food and the people are a real tribute to the legacy of Che Guevera.
We stayed at Las Granjitas for two nights shortly before we left the island so we could indulge in the pool before returning to winter. The best part was during the day when all the tours were gone and the place was almost deserted. It is surrounded but farms and has a nice park like feel with many bird species (includes the awakening sounds of a rooster and many other birds). Otherwise, if you want to go to Santa Clara, it is a 5CUC/each way taxi ride. Compared to other hotels we stayed/ate at the buffet was above average in flavor but had the same repetitive nature. However, the value was incredible. We booked through a tour agency in Santa Clara and paid 21CUC/person per night with breakfast and dinner included!
Recommendation - stay at casa particulares (B&Bs/homestays) if you want great food in Cuba.

The rooms were lovely and clean and the shower was powerful. The tv had more snow than the alps in winter and only a few channels and was not worth switching on. This is the holiday if you really want to feel like a cash cow. Taxi's into town are expensive and to be honest Santa Clara is not a jewel in the cuban crown.
Not suitable for vegetarians unless you want to pay for an expensive omelette. Not much on site apart from swimming and cocktails.
Staff friendly but expect to be tipped.
If you want to explore Cuba this is best avoided.
