After spending 2 disappointing days in St. Lucia and being fed up with rude people, high prices and lacking facilities, it was nice to come to JJ's in gorgeous Marigot Bay.
Now, this hotel is not what I am used to for a vacation, but it was better than the others we stayed at in St. Lucia and the staff was VERY friendly, from the maid to the desk clerk to the servers. Everyone there was very friendly.
We were traveling with our 2 teen boys so we got an apartment that had a large bed and then a twin bed and a sofa bed. It was tight, but it worked well for us for 1 night. The room wasn't really an apartment though, it only had a mini-fridge that really didn't work and the A/C SUCKED. Even after being on "high" for 20 hours, the room was still smoking hot.
But the view. It's amazing. The room has a patio and you can see all the way down into the bay. Let me warn you, the walk to the apartment from the main part of the hotel is on a STEEP, bumpy road. After nearly dying the first time I walked it, I drove up and down each time after that, which was kind of a pain.
The bungalows do not have this great view but they are not at the top of the hill either.
The hotel had 2 pools, one in the middle of the bungalows which was cute and the other in the middle of one of the restaurants which was weird but funny when all the drunk people started jumping in it at the end of the night.
We happened to be there on JJ's birthday (you'll know it's him from the giant gold JJ emblem around his neck) so after dinner everyone there was really drinking a lot and partying. It was very entertaining and our boys, 14 and 13, thought it was hilarious.
Again, be prepared for the steep, pot-hole filled road leading to the hotel. It was almost impossible to find the desk clerk, but when she finally showed up, she was great. Very nice and helpful. They need a buzzer or something so the staff knows when someone is waiting, we waited forever!
From the main area of the hotel, you walk back on a bride that is over this strange swampy area to the back part of the hotel. The boys loved climbing on these weird trees that grow in the mud/water, depending on the tide, and dodging the yellow sea crabs.
This back part of the hotel is basically built on a dock over the water and is a the main bar and restaurant. It's all open-air and has a great view of the entire bay. JJ's place also seems to be a primary point for boats to tie onto and then drive into town for supplies.
There is no beach here. In fact, the only beach at Marigot Bay is this really small beach area on a sort-of peninsula. You have to take a water taxi to get to the beach for $10EC/RT. Again, kind of a pain to lug all of your swimming stuff all the way down the hill from the room and then onto a boat to cross the bay just to lie on the beach and swim in the water.
And if anyone offers to take you on a snorkeling trip, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. We did this the morning we were leaving. The guy charged the 4 of us $60USD and drove us on this tiny fishing boat in the super choppy ocean and it took forever. Then he pulled into this silly area saying it was a reef. It was not a reef and the water was so rough that the visibility sucked and I got seasick. Not a fun 2 hours.
JJ's actually had fair prices on the food and drinks, and the menu, while still small, had much more typical tourist food. I was so happy to finally get a cheeseburger and fries! After 7pm they also have pizza which was OK, but still a little strange. Who puts canned corn and hot dogs (they call it sausage) on their pizza?? I guess maybe St. Lucians do. I really don't think they know how to cook in St. Lucia.
We met some interesting people that had been traveling on a huge boat that was docked at JJ's, and then saw some really stupid, drunk east coast rich kids act like total idiots. It was a very entertaining night.
So, overall, JJ's was still not the standard type of vacation hotel I am used to. The apartment rooms had very limited facilities and are very far from the main area of the hotel and ages away from the beach. But the staff is the nicest we encountered in St. Lucia and the food/bar prices are fair. Our boys had fun swimming and exploring and there weren't locals hanging around staring at us and making us nervous the way they did in the other areas of St. Lucia we visited.
If we do go to St. Lucia again, which is highly unlikely, we will definitely stay at JJ's again.

Wonderful, calm, relaxing get away. Cosy rooms for couples, nice quiet nature filled area. I had a wonderful stay with my husband. Would definitely go back, it's a great place, access to marigot ferry, and convenient for enjoying a stay in marigot Saint Lucia. You must visit!

JJ's is not a bland luxury resort, but under Sue's new management (I think in the last 15 months) it has got a new coat of paint, and most importantly caring staff who will help you in what ever way they can. The rooms are really cabins, surrounded by banana trees and tropical flowers. Ours had a refrigerator, and sometimes a cute little tree frog. The pool is lovely, the food is as good as most places in St Lucia (which means tolerable), laundry is available, the waterfront cafe JD's, run by the charming Jason, is a lovely place to watch the posh boats from. I had a thoroughly good time there at a cheaper price than most places in Marigot Bay

Our confirmation from Vrbo explicitly stated ‘two minute walk to the beach’. It actually is a two minute walk across some tile, concrete, torn up concrete and a wooden boardwalk to a large patio over a mangrove. The patio holds the bar and restaurant for the venue. This part of the bay is dirty with a number of abandoned and rotting away boats. No beach. We called Vrbo support and spent most of the day arguing on the phone with them. We checked out after two days with no compensation for the remaining three days. The owner openly admitted ‘oh I must change that’ and offered a $300 US water taxi to ‘cleaner’ beach. This property was a horrible experience and was misrepresented by the owner and Vrbo.

If driving make sure you set your GPS to JJ’S paradise Hotel in Marigot Bay as there is another Paradise Hotel near Sugar Beach. You will arrive down a steep road into a dirt parking lot. No sign, but with your back to the “Gentlemen’s Club”, the reception is just up the road to the right. You may want to call them several hours prior to your arrival to remind them to turn on the A/C in your unit. Ours was over 90 degrees when we arrived and took several hours to cool down. If you are planning to do any cooking be aware that there may be no table or chairs to sit on while eating. Our unit had none but Tricia arranged for some to be provided. Also check for utensils and cookware. Our unit was sparse but Tricia provided a new fry pan and pot. Check that the TV is working while you are being shown the unit. Ours was not but quickly fixed. There was no water on the cold side of the bathroom. No water was coming out of the spout. A new faucet set was installed in a couple of days. The pool is not as pictured. Paint is peeling off the sides and bottom and one large patch looks like a moss garden. The water is clean and the pool deck area is well maintained. The “Club” which is in the parking lot opens at 11 PM on Wednesday and clients are entertained until wee hours in the AM. Proceeding towards the Bay there are several buildings that have an outside bar, above ground pool and buffet area primarily used for tourists that come in on one of JJ’S tour boats or busses. After the walk through the Mangrove swamp you arrive at the bar and dining room. The chairs at water side (about 3 tables) are in need of refurbishing as are chairs in the dining room that have ripped seat cushions. The volume of sound coming from the bar/dining room at night was voluminous especially on karaoke night so if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. Construction (complete renovation) was going on during the day in the unit at the end of the pool 7 days a week-saws and hammering. I suggest that you check to see if there is any construction going on if you plan on staying here. Breakfast is included but if you want eggs over easy describe exactly how to cook them as over easy on two occasions arrived over hard, yolks broken. The “maple” syrup for the pancakes is not and the sausage is a hot dog. Order your toast dark and it will be not white and ask for butter and jelly as it won’t come automatically. Lunch and dinner food is mediocre. Our AIRBNB contact, Tricia, was outstanding. She arranged for extra towels, got the 3 dead light bulbs replaced, plumbing fixed, table and chairs brought in, TV fixed, pot and pan for the kitchen.

My experience there was a blast. The hospitality went beyond what I expected. The Host JJ was indeed remarkable and welcoming. This man is so cool and calm I felt at home away from home. The food was delicious. The kitchen staff served me some of my very own local dishes, Specially prepared for me. The bakes and salt fish. The bouillon with snout omg I think I must have had half a pig🤣🤣. The entire JJ staff made my stay memorable I’m definitely will be visiting again. If you want to experience life filled with fun, excitement, peace of mind the place to be is JJ’s Paradise. Home away from home in comfort and style. I rate you guys. To the staff and host I say Thank You!!!!

A group of four visited for lunch and didn't have the best experience. The service wasn't prepared for us and we were the only customers. Almost every drink had simple syrup. Didn't realize this until after I ordered a margarita, which appeared to be the first one the bartender had made. The menu was very limited and the staff didn't know it well. We hoped for more, next time we will check out Dr Doolittles.

Really disappointed in the resort. A group of us attended the resort and one of our members was robbed about 11;00pm. She thought she heard a noise in the bathroom, thinking it was an animal, and checked. However, a man was in the bathroom, ran by her and escaped through the window. He stole her american and EC dollars.Scary! Advertise free wifi, but not present in all rooms. Have to go to lobby.

JJs is an OK place to stay, but to be honest, I thought Marigot Bay was pretty overrated. The room was $90 and was pretty decent, but it would have been MUCH better to take the Windjammer (located about 20 min north) for the special rate of $135 they offered. The main problem is that JJ's is separated from the beach and all the other properties/restaurants in Marigot Bay by mangrove trees. So the only way to get to other places in the Bay (to eat, rent a kayak, etc) was to take a water taxi for EC$10 round trip. And the taxi drivers are a pain in the rear, always trying to pressure you into expensive excursions, etc.

As part of our monthly outings seven of my friends and I decided to make reservations for the Buffet at your establishment after we received such great reviews and excellent past personal experiences from other collegues, and I must say, I was rather impressed with the whole layout of the restaurant. Unfortunately, this is where it ends.
The service we received can only be described as atrocious and to this point I am still unable to comprehend what transpired. It started off smoothly, we were seated but then, the hostess just walked away. For about five minutes we sat there catching up and when it was clear that she would not be returning any time soon, I took it upon myself to serve myself from the buffet.
After we had already gotten our meals and returned to our seats, the hostess approached us and rudely stated that we did not wait for her to explain what was happening that evening. We made reservations for the Buffet as I previously stated, which, to me does not need any explanation, but in any event, if any explanation was needed it should have been done at the point when we were seated and not when she felt like it.
If our table was attended to at least five times I would be telling a lie. We were only asked one time how we were doing and when we stated clearly that we were not satisfied, it was just shrugged off by the hostess. She even actually said to one of my friends who told her that the bread was a bit too hard, and I quote;"That's it?". The waiter who served us water seemed quite unsure of himself as well and actually wanted an estimate on the amount of water we thought we needed. If one of the ladies did not ask him if the water was priced, we would have never known that it would be part of the charge. Another waitress came to us too, but that was only in error as we were not the ones who ordered ice cream and there was another waiter who seemed to avoid our table like we had the plague. We had no wine yet the wine glasses remained on the table and our dishes were not cleared in a timely manner. I may not be familiar with how a restaurant is run but I don't beleive that this came remotley close to what it should be.
From then it only gets worse. The food was not all that great, actually, it was rather unsavory. Not quite the buffet selection we imagined. There were three types of Garden Salad, spicey fried potatoes, rice with hopefully what was parsley dotted with a few black eyed peas, barbequed spare ribs, chicken and grilled fish. I am an avid barbequed chicken fan but after this meal I am not so certain anymore. Persons who had the fish complained about its lack of flavour and even in an effort to add some piquancy we were unable to get the salt out of the shaker!
At the end of it all, we could have just walked out of the restaurant without paying for our dinner because it took at least twenty minutes before we were presented with the cheque. However, they did not negelect to put in the service tax on the bill although we received the worst service ever so at that point we decided to pay for our meals but exclude the service tax.
Hopefully we will never come across this type of service again which would cause us to take such action and we will not be returning to your restaurant ever again. We will definately not recommend it to anyone else.
I hope your staff clean up their act and learn to provide a proper customer service.
Yours Sincerely Ms. Joseph

JJs transfer guy was the least professional of the whole trip. I would recommend working out a transfer deal (there and back) with a taxi guy from the airport. In general, the area around Marigot Bay is less exciting than the rest of the places I saw in St. Lucia.
you cannot get to Rainforest Hideaway on foot. You need to take a ferry (free if you eat at the restaurant). Make sure you book a table! otherwise you cannot get there/eat there!. Ask the reception to book it for you. Juliette is quite close to JJ, but it is an uphill walk ...15-20 mins. Check on google map.
as for taxi- ask JJ to pick you from the airport. you will have to pay, but at least they will take you straight to the hotel.
Thanks for your inquiry. From UVF, it will take you about 45 minutes to an hour drive to get to JJs Paradise. We would be more than happy to accommodate you.
We don't have billiard / pool tables at the hotel however it's available at a near by bar affiliated with the hotel. We will assist with getting you to and from the bar if you find the walking distance is too much.
There are more places to choose from in the Marigot Bay area.
