We stayed here for one night when attending a U7 hockey tournament in Lacombe with our 5-year old. The entire team chose to stay at Sandman in Red Deer for $170 a night and all complained about that hotel. We stayed at Days Inn Sylvan Lake for half the price, had a great sleep and an awesome breakfast, plus racked-up quite a few Wyndham Loyalty points due to a promotion we had opted-in on through one of Wyndham's email blasts. You can't fault this property one bit. It is well run and aligns with your expectation of a Days Inn. We enjoyed our stay.

Decent hotel to stay in Sylvan Lake. It is a bit dated and could certainly use some upgrades. On the plus side, it is reasonably well located, close (10 minute walk) to the lake, yet far enough from the main drag to allow for restful sleep at night. Bed are also fairly comfortable and room service was provided daily.

Some of the cons were that the room was hot at night and the A/C unit was loud and blew cold air directly on the bed, so it was tricky to balance the temperature throughout the night. Also, the hotel has no elevator, so it is necessary to haul luggage through the staircase if staying on the upper floors. Lastly, windows have no bug screens so opening them is an invitation for mosquitoes and other insects to come inside the room.

We stayed 1 night in this hotel in July 2022 and we were surprised that there are no elevators at all! When we asked front desk to get a bell person or assistance in taking our luggage to the room they refused saying they don't have anyone available. We had lots of luggage as we are a family on a 10 day road trip around Alberta and BC and we had to take our luggage to the 2nd floor up many stairs and corridors! The room was clean but no laundry bag, no mini kitchen plates/dish washing items, and no body wash in the washroom.
I would not recommend this place as the customer service is not good.

I was charged for a late check out that I never used. Management told me there is nothing they can do to not charge me the late check out fee since I booked on line yet they are the ones that approve the request, and process the charge and payment ! I did request the late checkout but then chose to not utilize it since the service was so bad. I chose to depart even an hour prior to regular checkout time. Maintenance mess with drywall debris and tools in the middle of the hallway all afternoon after check in and drilling and hammering yet I was never informed this would be happening outside our room. Breakfast was old and cold even though we were there by 9 am. The coffee was like water and buffet was never replenished once during our dining room visit. Check in was awkward as no guest interaction at all during the process. Not even informed of inclusions and facilities available during check in. Hotel re-uses all key packets that have been used by previous guests and warn guests through in room collateral that if not returned , they will be charged $5.00 upon departure. The departure process was the same as check in. I requested a receipt to ensure zero balance and it was like I inconvenienced the associate ! Rate was low but why must I sacrifice service for low rate. In addition the air conditioning/heating system is so noisy !

We were disappointed by this small hotel. At first glance, it looked okay, but looking closer, a myriad of problems started to emerge. The glass in the entrance door is broken. Next we found out there is no elevator, and we were on the third floor. As we carried our bags up the stairs, we began to notice the scope of the negligent housekeeping: dirty, stained carpets, dirty windows and sills in the stairwell. We were a little surprised just how tiny the room was, not that it was a problem for us, but a large person would struggle in this space. Generally speaking, we liked the decor, the lighting, and very high bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, many housekeeping and maintenance problems in the room soon became evident, from the broken safety latch on the door, to the permanently fixed crooked picture on the wall, to the hard water stains on the faucet on the sink, to the dripping bathtub faucet, with the related hard water stains in the enamel chipped bathtub. Oddly, the air conditioner vents into the enclosed, very dirty balcony which is too narrow for even a chair. The fridge in the room looked quite scratched and dented, and the door had been badly repaired. We were shocked to find no Kleenex in the room, and the front desk said they were out of it. They had also shut down all the ice machines, suggesting it was a Wyndham policy, but we have stayed in at least 5 Wyndham hotels this year, and all but this one had ice. They also didn't serve breakfast or offer any options - the other Wyndham hotels we've stayed this year all served breakfast. All these seem to be a matter of a lack of management, along with indifferent housekeeping and maintenance. All these add up to poor value. It is sad when management and staff have no pride in their business.

For the price this hotel is perfectly fine. Can’t really comment on staff as only seen them when you check in and out. I was here for 5 nights and didn’t clean room once (not sure if I missed something where I had to request it). I do like that you get free breakfast from the restaurant so it’s all freshly cooked. The shower pressure is not great. The bed is comfy. Pillows are your standard garbage pillows like most hotels. The building is very old so you get all shorts of sounds. It’s like ghosts are living in the walls lol. It’s rundown but they try and make it presentable. Parking is not great if the hotel is full.

Stayed here on a summer weekend because of the decent location (not on lake, but just a few blocks away) and great value compared to other options on the same date. The room was small-ish, but quite nice and clearly recently updated. Queen room had "mini-kitchenette" with fridge, microwave, sink and coffee maker. Bed was very good, TV setup appears new and everything worked well. Front desk people were very friendly and helpful. Overall, everything was good and would stay here again.

The room, although on the smaller side, was cozy. It had a small attached balcony. Air conditioning was in working order which was good because it was really hot out. They allowed us to check in early which was fantastic (although they didn't make any promises when I called ahead, and that was completely understandable). The breakfast was PHENOMENAL. Your standard breakfast with eggs, hash browns, toast, and a choice of meat. The staff were very polite and accommodating. This is a very good bang for your buck if you're looking for a place to stay at a popular tourist destination.

Very dated and mildew smelling hallways. Room was ok, small, with very loud AC. At least it worked. Do not expect a balcony, it’s nothing more than a tiny semi enclosed cement patio, no chairs , and if your in the back, overlooking and smelling a big car wash, yuck!
Breakfast is included, however the week we were there, aug 16, one day there was a gas leak so kitchen closed, thankfully, and 2 days later all the cooks and kitchen staff quit !! So ….hoping they are able to hire new staff soon. Staff is friendly but get the feeling they are overwhelmed….
