I love going West, there is something so magical there and it´s not flooded with tourists yet! So if you you are planning a trip to Iceland in 2017 I would recommend going West for a truly authentic Icelandic experience. Up there, there is no place I like more than Djúpavík, it´s tiny but has a rich history and a...

Like many others who have made the (bumpy) trip to Djúpavík in recent years, my desire to visit it stemmed from watching Sigur Rós' Heima. A friend had also raved to me for many years about Djúpavík and particularly about Hotel Djúpavík, so I knew it was somewhere I had to go when visiting the Westfjörds this summer. The hotel...

People working here are lovely, offeredus immediately free coffee and garlic bread they have just made. We came again for a soup which was great. Really nice atmosphere, interesting interior and very kind people.

Location: Hótel Djúpavík is the just reward for all those who brave the (to some fun) 45-minute drive on a winding and at times pothole-ridden dirt road along the stunning secluded Strandir coast. On a sunny day the setting is upliftingly gorgeous: there lies the Djúpavík hamlet at the head of Reykjarfjörður fjord with steep mountains and Djúpavíkurfoss waterfall towering...

After a white knuckling drive into the west fjords, the hotel welcomed us with whales seen just off the bay. Everyone that was there were outside pointing and awing over them. It was quite the welcome. I asked about pushing our two twin beds together, because were newlyweds and instead they gave us a different room! The views on either...

We came upon this beautiful little gem on a foggy drive north of Holmavik. Loved the cake, and the free coffee and tea, warm welcome, and board games... such a wonderful afternoon spent here! Highly recommend a visit if you can get here (safely through the foggy road conditions).

Magnificent surroundings, landscape, environment. Very tasty dinner. A very comfortable stay in a two bedroom cottage which squeaked a little when people moved. Of course you know this hotel is almost in the middle of nowhere and you adjust your demands accordingly. . All the guest were tourists from other countries and none of the staff were Icelandic. Being Icelandic...

This is a very remote town in the west of iceland. Incredibly charming and cosy. You felt like you were in someone's home. Are room was simple but comfortable with a great view of the ocean. We actually saw some whales from the window. They were very nice and accomodating. Given how remote the place is - I would recommend...

This hotel is incredibly cozy and welcoming, the beds are comfortable and the staff is friendly. Djúpavík is remote and enchanting! The breakfast was very expensive taking into account what was offered, it would have been nice to get oatmeal porridge or bacon and eggs for the price we were paying. You should stay here and have your breakfast as...

Without any doubts this was one of our best accommodations during our 2++ weeks trip to Iceland. Super cozy and welcoming hotel in a remote location, where one of the biggest herring factories in Iceland was built at the beginning of last century. The hotel building was in fact the building where women who worked in the factory.were lodged, and...
