We had a COVID secure wedding reception here. Most guests stayed two nights and some only the night of the wedding. We had the place to ourselves due to filling all the rooms. What an incredibly wonderful place this is. The staff were brilliant, followed all the guidelines and couldn’t possibly have done more to help and make our weekend perfect. Special mention to Nicola our wedding planner and Steph ( who filled in when Nicola was on furlough). Also the manager Martin ( who was incredibly patient when several guests managed to lock themselves out of their rooms!) and remained calm even when very busy. Barman Brad was also great. I cannot compliment them all enough. I would have hugged them all when we left if it had been allowed! The rooms , the common areas, the grounds, and the surrounding area are beautiful and you are made to feel totally welcome. Breakfast was first class and all our guests left happy. We plan to return for the party event of our wedding next year when we hope to celebrate without restrictions. Thoroughly recommend this as a wedding venue and as a a guest ! They also welcome dogs which we think says a lot about the people who own this property ! 😊

We visited West House Hotel Llantwit Major on 22nd February for an evening meal. At first impression the Hotel was welcoming and the staff were attentive. The dining room was cosy and the table was set with fresh linen. ( I tend to pre judge restaurants, perhaps unfairly, with the provision of tablecloths)! However....the menu was more like a bar menu but not as palatable! The meals ordered were served promptly and the plates were hot. We ordered fish and chips and the pie of the day. Both meals were unsatisfactory as the fish was cooked with the skin on and the pie meal was served with carrots and parsnip that were both overcooked. I found that serving 2 root vegetables was rather strange anyhow. Neither meal was finished . On observing this the polite waiter asked for our comments regarding the meal. In compensation, we were offered a complimentary dessert which my wife accepted though I declined. This could have been a lovely evening out as the hotel looks great and there is a reasonable car park which is a bonus in Llantwit major. However, the menu needs to be critically analysed and improved if this quaint and lovely hotel is to compete with other pubs and hostelries that serve such good food in the vale of Glamorgan

This was a very pleasant surprise when we arrived how lovely this hotel is. Check in was smooth and helpful, our room was small and looked out on a wall but was plenty comfortable and clean, shower and bathroom were clean and shower powerful, staff were all helpful and pleasant, The only thing I can say is this hotel is a little gem and we will definitely return,
