Bushara is very accommodating of large groups. They even helped provide us with a charcoal stove so we could do our own cooking. The island itself is beautiful with little trails running over the island and a few choice swimming spots (look for the terrifying rope swing). But mostly, I'm reviewing because I left my speaker charging at reception. I...

Bushara Island Lodge is owned by the Church of Uganda, and some of the proceeds go to various projects for the poor. You call the lodge in advance to arrange for the boat to pick you up. Keep careful control of your bags, because there are bellhop wannabes on the shore front who will want to carry your bags 10...

This is a rustic camp which is a great get-away. This was my second visit and we stayed in the Kingfisher cottage which has two bedrooms to accommodate families. Eco latrine and shower were in a separate building just a few steps away by stone path. It worked well for our family visit. We greatly enjoined Evas, our hostess who...

The tents were cozy. Definatly clean. A place to meditate, run away from the world, write a novel or just listen to the birds. I loved it. A tiny problem with food, but if one isn't very choosy then all is well. Luckily brought lots of dates , crackers , tuna etc. etc. etc. thank u bushara camp.

Stayed for for 4 nights in the Treehouse room. All the cottages and tents I saw have great settings overlooking the lake. The staff were friendly and helpful especially Evas who we saw most. It is a place to come to re-discover life before WiFi, mains electricity and the pace and complications of modern life. Sit and watch the birds,...

The island itself is a nice one, however the area is poorly maintained. The cabins looked dark and dirty. No electricity but there were batteries which none of them worked. The manager is a good guy as well as other staff, except for the boatman who was rude, not cheerful, looked unhappy. But when tipped, he seemed the happiest guy....

Bushara Island Camp is a small island of paradise in the middle of Lake Bunyonyi. I'd recommend anyone to stay here during there time in Uganda! The island is surrounded by trees, birds and flowers, it's very relaxing, beautiful and in the nature. If you've just been gorilla trekking or roaming through cities like Kampala, Lake Bunyonyi is super relaxing...

I would highly recommend Bushara Island Camp to anybody looking for a peaceful retreat! The island is covered in beautiful trees and has five secluded docks that are perfect for swimming, reading, and relaxing. It is so peaceful, the staff are very nice, and the restaurant is surprisingly delicious. I really enjoyed my stay.

Had a super time - walked around the island twice & paddled around it in a dug out. No power, hot water delivered in a jerry can to the tent & crayfish (in all its forms) at every meal. Wide variety of bird life, tame & colourful. Very quiet, a long way from anywhere. Idyllic.

I have been here a couple of times and love it to visit - have a meal - crayfish highly recommended from the Lake and wander around. It is a well kept Church of Uganda camp and very peaceful but I prefer to stay on the mainland with more flexibility. Staff friendly - some facilities a bit basic. Food good...
