We came here for the pool to be honest we didn’t stay in the hotel but here’s our experience of just the pool & restaurant.

The location is very good as it’s only a small walk to the beach. The pool is very nice and has a very chill vibe to it. The only thing that let us down was the staff. They didn’t have one word of English. Trying to order food wasn’t easy. We only had lunch and the food was good.

Overall it seems like a nice place to stay but if you speak English they more than likely won’t understand you :)

We stayed 12/6/16-16/6/16. Booked through the Co-op. £220 PP including flights. If you deduct £100 PP for the flights it works out at £30 per night - take this into account when reading the review.
The hotel is about 250 yards (sea level) from the beautiful beach. There are no other hotels at sea level - all the others are in the town or on top of the cliffs. If getting to the beach is a big part of your holiday but you/your group have mobility issues be aware the steps/road from the town are very steep.
The hotel is bright, airy, well maintained and clean. Yes, it is basic (eg no drink making facilities) The staff are very helpful and pleasant.
Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. (Note - there is no internet cafe in the town but the manager offered to print some travel documents for us).
Breakfast came with the booking - cold meats, fruit, sausage, bacon, fried eggs, hash brown, toast. Not the best i've had but adequate (I would compare it with a typical supermarket buffet breakfast. Unsuprisingly all the eating places in the town charge the same price (about 7 Euro's) for a typical cooked breakfast.
Smallish swimming pool on the roof but all very clean.
Only downside no beach towel lending/hire and the local shops will charge 15+ Euro's. Not a problem if you have a large suitcase but we only took cabin bags.
Hotel tax payable on arrival - 15 Euro's. 2.50 Euro's per day for the safe key.
A good base to sleep, have breakfast etc

Dear David, Thank you very much for your excellent description of all the services of the hotel, this makes it easy for people to understand the excellent value for money we have! I just want to add to the information given about breakfast that we also give cereals, coffee, tea, juices, chocolate, yogurs, boiled egg and gazpacho. As for the rental of towels is true that we do not have this service, however in reception and for free we give umbrellas for the sun and mats. I hope you will choose us again on your next visit to the island Warmest Regards Mariano Rizzo Director / General Manager

I have to say, this had been one of the best holidays I have had in a long time. I took my 76 year old mum with me ( just the two of us,no children or husbands) for a relaxing holiday and this was just what the doctor ordered!!!
The staff were approachable, friendly and always polite. There are steps up to the hotel but there is a lift. It is situated past the steps on the right hand side leading to the hill which will take you to reception, level 1, level 2 terrace ( which is where you will find the pool, bar, breakfast room and evening meal room) the ground floor is known as parking.
The room we stayed in was very clean with a balcony. The sheets were changed every 3 days, let's face it who changes their sheets at home every day!!! Take a shower and get all that sun cream off first and stop moaning!!!!! The towels were changed every day and the maid service was first class. To the beach was a very short walk (2mins) where you will find 2 bars that serve scrumptious food and there is also a small shop.
The only thing is I just don't know why guests don't eat at the hotel in the evening as myself and my mum had such lovely food there. The bar opens at 4:30pm-11:30pm on the rooftop(terrace) when the day is at its hottest a cool beer is just the ticket, trust me!!!! I could go on but take it from me we had a great time and will most definitely go back. ( Myself and my mum went 19th August-26th August) thanks for a lovely chilled, relaxing and no housework holiday)
Michelle and her mum

We had a wonderful 7 night stay here ( now called The Osprey). We arrived on the 9/7/23. Our room was ready, staff on reception very helpful. Safety deposit boxes in rooms no weekly charge just €5.00 deposit. You can also borrow pool towels for €10.00 deposit ( refunded when returned). I am also advised that you can borrow a kettle and an iron.
The room itself was lovely, clean nice towels and bedding etc. Room also has a mini fridge.
The Bar/ restaurant lovely with amazing views. Nice pool and sun beds etc again very clean.
Bar/ restaurant staff all lovely, very attentive & an absolute credit to the hotel. We ate there & honestly we weren’t disappointed.
I would completely recommend staying/ eating at the hotel. We would definitely return!

clean well presented friendly staff
no tea or coffee facilties no kettle in room no fridge and no bath just a walk in shower.
bath toiletries are 2 small bottles shampoo and 2 small bars of soap thats it.
b+b includes boiled eggs rolled ham and cheese pastries some fruit slices off bread if your lucky packs of jam and butter also add cold coffee and tea made for you while you wait.
the restaurant is not open up to this day 5th july when we left the bar opens at 6.30pm closes at
10.30pm and is very exspensive.
i would also like to add the hotel although close to beach is at the bottom of a very very steep hill or take the stairs 183 of them very steep just to get to the town to eat some proper food the hike is not for the faint hearted.
a taxi can be booked for the ride to town 2 or 3 mins in car but 7 euros a lot for a short trip
enjoy your stay

First of all there are 21 steps up to the hotel, which is not good when you are carrying suitcases, lady at desk friendly and helpful, rooms are very basic, no tea and coffee or a kettle in the rooms or a fridge, had to kick up a fuss to get an extra pillow, beds are really hard.no where to get a drink or food in the hotel after 10am until after 6pm at night, but the restaurant is only open until 9pm, you are better off going into the main part of town where there are plenty of bars and restaurants, we were a bit annoyed as we were not advised by travel company that hotel was no smoking throughout, even though there is a lovely balcony to sit on later in the evening.as people have said hotel is at the top of a very steep hill, you can get a taxi but it is 7 euro's they did have a little train that goes round the town and they charged 2euro's to the top of the hill.

Dear Guest, First of all I do not know why you climb the 21 steps if you have difficulties, having an elevator!!!!!!! We do not have tea, coffee, kettle or fridge placed in the information of NONE of all the agencies or internet networks that collaborate with us. My question is why do not you read what you are hiring ???You're taking a banana instead of an apple, and then complaining that it's not an apple !! As a modality we always give extra pillows to our clients if they ask for it, unless if the cleaning service detects that they already have 6 PILLOWS in their room, anyone with common sense will understand that we are not a pillow factory !!!! The hours of not being able to have drinks in the hotel is until 16:30.... Finally and most importantly it is very frustrating to have to answer a bad criticism when it is obvious that who is talking is the cigarette. What is our fault that your tour operator has not advised you that you can not smoke in the establishment ??????? Please do not damage another establishment with an unfair criticism and be sure to ask in advance if you can smoke everywhere if it is the only thing that makes you happy on your vacation. We accept and agree that you will not stay with us again Warmest Regards Mariano Rizzo Director / General Manager

Wife and I stayed here 19-26 June 2017. Got a good deal through an internet cheap holidays website and for the price we were very happy with it.

It is located about 250 metres from the lovely Cala en Porter beach. The hotel is quite 1970s in design but is immaculately clean and has been recently painted and decorated. The rooms are large and nice. Two single comfy beds with reading lights, a dressing table and a big mirror.

The bathroom comprises a bath with shower, sink and WC. A shower gel dispenser and a hand soap dispenser are also included on the bathroom wall which is a nice touch. You don't need to bring shower gel in your luggage as it's free and smells lovely. The cleaners fill them up regularly. Toilet paper is provided free also.

Towels are included and changed regularly by the cleaners. The room is cleaned every day and smells lovely from perfumed disinfectant when you come back to your room from the beach/ day out.

There is a nice balcony with two chairs and a small table. Me and my wife loved sitting on the balcony listening to the cicadas chirping and the frogs croaking in the evenings whilst having drinks and reading or playing cards. Cala en Porter is more suited to the middle aged/ older crowd or young families. There are bars and restaurants aplenty but no nightclubs. Suits me down to the ground.

Air conditioning is free. The control panel is easy to use and you can choose what temperature you want. There is a modern flat screen 26" TV with about 32 channels (all in Spanish). This is free to use and not coin operated. If you take a small radio on holiday you can get Radio Minorca on 97.7 Hz which is all in English.

The swimming pool is not the biggest but is very clean with a lifeguard present. There are sun loungers and two pool showers. There is a small kiddie pool also.

We were on a B and B basis and the breakfast is very good. Sausages and bacon good quality, fried eggs, baked beans, bread rolls and sliced bread, croissants, butter, jams, marmalades, honey, yoghurts, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, range of cereals. There is one of those conveyor belt type toasters that does great toast if you want that. There is a machine dispensing fruit juices and iced water, plus a coffee machine. Tea bags are also there if you want a cuppa. Jugs of milk and sachets of sugar all provided. Overall the food on offer is great and the staff are wonderful.

To be honest after I'd eaten a plateful of English breakfast, then toast with jam, then a yoghurt and fruit I was stuffed and didn't want to eat again till late in the evening. The breakfast is from 8 am till 10 am. You can either eat in the restaurant or sit out on the terrace with great views of the inlet.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no mini-bar/ fridge in the room or a kettle. We always take our own travel kettle on holiday. I bought a cooler bag from the supermarket up the road and bought bags of ice to chill our milk for our tea, bottled water etc. This worked well. We kept the cooler bag under the sink in the bathroom and it did the job. You could always take one with you. We brought the cooler bag home with us.

Taxis are shockingly expensive by the way. A guy in our hotel had had too many cherryades one evening and couldn't face the ten minute walk back down the hill to the hotel. It cost him 8 Euros for what is a ten minute walk.

In reception you can borrow beach umbrellas and beach matts. There is also a selection of books to borrow although there isn't much on offer.

We hired a car (on the internet before we flew out) and there is loads of free parking. You can either park underneath the hotel on the ground floor or across the road.

The receptionist Sara is a lovely girl. Very professional. She will do her utmost to make your stay a pleasure. Checkout time is 12.00 midday and we weren't flying until late evening. For a reasonable price we were allowed to keep the room until 6 pm (I've paid a lot more in Greece for less extra hours). Nobody had booked our room that day. It may be different if the hotel is very busy. Best to speak to the reception staff who are very helpful. There is a room for storing suitcases and a toilet/ shower room if you can't get a time extension on your room.

Wifi is free. Reception will give you the password. There is a lift for less able persons.
Cala en Porter itself is all steps and hills. If you have mobility issues this may pose a problem unless you hire a car.

The hotel is within a few minutes walk of some good restaurants. We ate at the Aroma Indian restaurant ten minutes walk up the hill. Very good. We also ate at an English restaurant/ bar called The Village Pub nearby and this was great also. Samoa restaurant is nice also (the three course 17.50 Euro set menu is good value and this includes a soft drink or beer). See my other reviews for more details of these.

Sara on reception printed off our return flight internet boarding passes for us for free. A massive thank you from me and the wife. Exceptional service.

Loads of places to visit if you don't want to sunbathe every day. Get a guide book off the internet before your holiday. Hire a car - you can hire a small Fiat for £106 a week if you go on a comparison website. We hired a Fiat 500 for this price. It wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding but had great air con and was easy to drive. It did the job.

Fort Marlborough near Es Castell is amazing. La Mola fortress is the biggest I've ever seen and even impressed the wife who usually isn't interested in this kind of thing. The national park beaches on the north coast are beautiful and remote. We did lots of snorkelling and saw plenty of fish. Even on Sant Tomas beach on the south coast which is quite touristy.

Conclusion: For the price we were very happy with this hotel and its location. No complaints. Would definitely come here again.

Dear Guest, I just think wow! You have made a description so precise and detailed that it has been a pleasure to read it. Thank you very much for this excellent comment and especially for explaining with so much detail all the services of the hotel, without forgetting anything! One thing I want to correct, which is that all TVs are 28 " :-) And as for the channels, there is the option of having 10 or 12 of them in English, pressing a button on the remote. For the rest there is not a single thing that is not right. Very glad that you have chosen us and waiting to welcome you next year again Warmest Regards Mariano Rizzo Director / General Manager

We arrived (myself and my 21 year old daughter) at the IBB Paradis Blau on a last minute booking. It was only booked 7 days before we arrived and we were not quite sure what to expect based on previous comments (although the more recent comments were much more positive). All we can say is that we landed on our feet - it was perfectly positioned at the bottom of a hill a 2 minute walk from a beautiful beach and a couple of bars.

Our room was on the 2nd floor with a sea view - it was perfect. The room was all white with blue accessories ie chairs etc. The bathroom was immaculate with a lovely walk in shower. We already knew that there were no tea and coffee facilities in the room (as the website said so) so we took our own travel kettle (we went prepared). There was a safe in the room, which we were not expecting, which was 17 euros for the week (plus a 5 euro deposit which was returned when you returned the key) - this was an added bonus for us so we could leave passports and valuables in the safe (which was not going anywhere).
The beds were very comfy, there was air conditioning in the room and there was a TV.
The rooms were spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. The bedside light switch also had a socket where you could charge your phones - again this was not expected.
Breakfast - there was so much to choose from. Fresh croissants, donuts, bread, hams, cheeses, fresh fruit, yoghurt, bacon, beans, eggs, the list goes on. You could eat breakfast outside too overlooking the hillside with views towards the sea - perfection.

The swimming pool was small but perfectly formed. Again, it was ideal for floating around to cool down. Some days it was just me and my daughter by the pool, as if it was our own private pool. There was a lifeguard in attendance too, which I am sure in the height of the season would be handy if there are young children sploshing around. Again the swimming pool was on the 3rd floor (like the restaurant) so the views were amazing and peaceful.
On one of the previous reviews they said the hotel was not at the bottom of a hill but bottom of a slope! I can categorically say it is definitely a hill. The walk up the hill in 32/35 degree heat was rather "difficult". There was a motorised train that left outside the hotel on the quarter past the hour throughout the day taking the scenic route around the town and some people from the hotel used this to get to the top of the hill at 3 euros a time. In the end we either went at the beginning of the day or after 8pm, it was slightly cooler but still had to stop a couple of times!
Every member of staff that we came across from the time we checked in, the room attendants/cleaners we passed in the corridors and the restaurant/bar staff were all so friendly and cheerful.
The beach was also amazing. It was a small bay, with lovely clear sea. You could hire loungers and umbrella but at 17 euros a day we decided to spend our time by the pool and have a dip in the evening - the pool was a lot quieter too. The reception staff also loaned us an umbrella one day, which was really helpful. The pool did get a little crowded on our last day (there were 6 of us around the pool at one point!).

All in all I would highly recommend this hotel, the staff and the area. If you want noisey clubs and loud evenings then I don't think this hotel is for you. If you would like peace, quiet, tranquility and lovely rooms then this is definitely the hotel for you.

There are some very mixed reviews on this hotel but I have to say, we were more than happy with our weeks stay here. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, the hotel is spotless, the location for the beach is excellent, the pool on the roof terrace is beautifully clean (although not heated). Breakfast is more than adequate (fruit, yoghurts, toast, pastries, English breakfast, Continental breakfast, tea, coffee etc etc all in a buffet style). The hotel now has WiFi too. If you are looking for a hotel that provides wall to wall activities with an all day bar then don't come here - you'll be sorely disappointed. If however you are looking for a hotel that is quiet, clean and peaceful then you'll be more than happy! Yes, I won't pretend that the hill or the steps up to the town are a joy but once you are up there, there is plenty of choice of good food and drinks.
Top tip - if you are going to the beach and need a sun brolly then ask at reception. They rent them along with two beach towels for 5 Euros a week (which is a LOT cheaper then you'll get it on the beach). I don't think that many people know this as they don't advertise it.

We got back yesterday from staying in this hotel for one week and all we can say is Perfect.
Hotel excellent location 50 mtrs from a beautiful not overlly crowded beach, excellent couple of little bars and cafes nearby.
Staff in hotel very friendly and professional and always willing to help with anything you need.
Look out for the 3 geese that live nearby they are a local attraction in themselves and are really nice to watch.
Air conditioned room which was cleaned and beds changed every day, the pool is on the top balcony and we had use of this sometimes on our own, the most people we saw use the pool was about 6 so nice and quiet and relaxing.

Breakfast basic but all you need fruit, toast, cereal, tea coffee juice etc.

The town of Cala Porter is also very pleasing, to the left of the hotel you will need to walk up a fairly steep hill for about 10 minutes but this is no problem once you reach the lovely bars etc of the town.

There is another option of reaching to town which is a bit more challenging to the right of the hotel are steps approximately 100 of them which also take you to the town but once again the views from the top of the steps are beautiful and really ideal for photos etc.

Once again we would go again without hesitation quiet relaxing no noise at night, lovely view from balconies from apartment.

Would highly recommend.

Dear Mr L, I am sorry for the delay in responding, somehow the message came out as reviewed and now I have seen that there was no answer. We have had clients celebrating anniversaries many times but we have never held a private party or similar. Of course we can help if you have an idea in your head that you want to make and I'm sure that enjoying a romantic dinner on our beautiful terrace will please your partner a lot! Warmest Regards

Hi, there is no fridge or kettle,I took my own kettle, there is a shop by the beach or up the stairs to the town. We went up the steps and came back down by the road. The hill is very steep. Oh btw there is no smoking anywhere in the hotel, this includes the terrace, pool area and room balcony so completely smoke free zone. Hope this helps.
