This hotel was recommended to us as being a friendly, comfortable and unpretentious hotel that gave good value for money. We were not disappointed. The room was ok with a perfectly comfortable bed, breakfasts were made to order and were very good, evening meals were good value and the overall atmosphere was of relaxed friendliness. Would visit again. Pity the...

This hotel is just being done up (did find the paint fumes in the corridors overpowering . The room itself was lovely gigantic bed and over looking the main street but not noisy. The bathroom had a lot of mould round the shower, obviously still to be sorted. Breakfast was ok, had 2 meals in the restaurant which were delicious....

We went in, hoping to get an evening meal but not realising there was a music festival on in Rothbury and everywhere was heaving! At first it seemed as if there would be no chance of us getting a table but then the brilliant staff did some serious juggling to find us somewhere to sit. The menu had a good...

We found this hotel at very short notice on booking.com for an absolute bargain £59 for 2 including breakfast, which was cooked to perfection. The food was excellent, the rooms were clean and comfy and the staff were lovely and friendly. The large wines were very large!!

Lovely friendly atmosphere with helpful staff, offering excellent service. Truly, this was the very best steak and ale pie I have ever had. This one really delivered! All our group enjoyed the food immensely. Moroccan Vegetable Stew with chunky bread was well-recommended as was the apple and rhubarb crumble and sticky toffee pudding. We shall definitely return; to try the...

We went for a meal here while on holiday. The food was excellent for the price, they have a menu that is under £10 with a wide range of choice. The only thing that I think needs improving is to have more waitresses because they have to serve food and serve behind the bar and our food was waiting under...

We were passing by today and popped in on spec. What a find. Excellent choice on the menu, good portion sizes and brilliant quality for the money. Will definitely call in again when we are in the area. The sticky pork loins with Apple and redcurrant are delicious.

Cragside is nearby and Alnwick (with both Castle and wonderful Garden) just a 20 min drive away. Excellent room with huge kingsize bed. Management and Staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
