Ibo Alfaro Rural Hotel is an old Canarian house built 200 years ago and restored between 1994 and 1996, when its inauguration took place. It is one of the first rural hotels in Canary Islands and the first in La Gomera. Certainly a referent and very well known internationally. Located in one of the slopes of the impressive Valley of Hermigua, its 20 rooms have spectacular views, which is one the hotel main attractive. The surroundings, with lovely gardens, quiet and relaxing terraces and spaces where fruits and vegetables are grown, make the hotel a wonderful place to rest. The interiors meet guest's expectations. Our rooms, with bathrooms recently refurbished and without Wi-Fi or TVs, connect you with your inner self and make you fell relax and in peace and harmony with nature. A healthy and enjoyable breakfast, with local products and also super tasty fruits and vegetables of our own harvest, is the perfect excuse to start the day early and explore one of the multiple hikes.

We chose without looking, because of us, "OFFLINE", without TV or WIfi in the rooms, although if you have a TV and wifi in the entrance, but when you arrive at night, the privacy and comfort to see something or talk about things you search for online is not the same.
The receptionist and the cleaning girl very nice, although no one is missed at night or afternoon, in case you need something (toilet paper for example)
The rooms are comfortable and with good views, quiet and clean.
The breakfast very correct, although it was missing some pastries or at least island pastries.
The location, something remote or uncomfortable to arrive. If you want to go down to the village, although it is not far, better by car, you have to climb a good slope around a back road.
Parking lots, on the street but without much danger, but pray that the hotel is not filled, or it will be a can to look for parking on a two-way back road.
If they put wifi in the rooms and a TV, plus a small pool or "soak" upstairs from the hotel... it won't make you want to visit the island, but to stay in the hotel.
In the future I could come back, although I thought about the wifi, since the coverage is poor and for a tourist it is important to look for places to go and eat all over the island.

A very nice place with excellent standard. Comfortable room and luxury bathroom. The breakfast was generous and of good quality. Unfortunately the hotel does not offer dinner. The location is uphills and the walk to and back from close by small eating places is quite demanding.

Stayed here for a night whilst touring La Gomera. This small hotel is charming and the views are fantastic. Isobel was very helpful prior to our arrival. The hotel is 10 mins walk from the bus stop (ask for the “pharmacy” stop), although up a very steep hill!

We stayed here for four nights as a base for walking. It serves well for that, although you really need a car to access any non local walks.
The rooms are comfortable, with and excellent power shower.
The only real downside was poor housekeeping, with nothing replenished over four nights, and bedding not changed, hence the rating.

The hotel is beautiful, very comfortable, to disconnect without a doubt. The environment is brutal, there are several recommendable restaurants nearby.
The breakfast is delicious, quite varied and the staff is super friendly and attentive to the guests.
The room was beautiful, the bedding was super comfortable, we had a great rest.
We found the bathroom somewhat uncomfortable because inside the shower it has a shelf to place toiletries and it was somewhat uncomfortable.
It had a terrace with spectacular views of El Teide.
As for the price, it is quite consistent with the quality-price ratio. We will repeat for sure

Even though the reception wasn’t occupied when arriving our room key was ready. It was left in place together with a charming welcoming letter including restaurant tips around the corner. Fantastic setting on the mountain side allowing breath taking views from bed before enjoying a lovely and very versatile breakfast. Thx a lot.

Small capacity hotel located on the heights of Hermigua. We slept there six nights. The welcome is rather reserved and we put this down to shyness. Our room, vinotica, opened onto the terrace, like two others, which is a handicap because, in the evening, people, instead of chatting in their room, sit on the terrace and talk until after midnight. I had to show up three evenings to get people to shut up, and again... Large room furnished in the old-fashioned way, which is not annoying in itself, but the mattresses are too soft, not to say broken. As for breakfast, could do better. Small space to arrange different things, therefore, traffic jam at 8:30 a.m., and not much choice. This place is classified as “chic” in the Routard guide, due to the rather high room prices, but that’s it. The exterior woodwork has lost its varnish or is falling into small pieces, like that of one of our windows, the chairs on the terrace are rickety in some, the whole building needs a little facelift because it is living on his achievements… If I had to come back to La Gomera, I would choose another place.

We enjoyed this beautiful hotel, especially the breakfast on the terrace with a beautiful view of Tenerife! Watching the sun rise behind Mount Teide with a coffee and fresh fruit is something you will never forget.
The rooms are spacious and clean. It is a 10-minute walk to a restaurant. Which is not a punishment in this environment

Lovely hotel with beautiful views over the valley. Breakfasts were great and the room was exceptionally clean with lovely fresh sheets and bed linen. Isabel was very helpful when we had a hot water issue and fixed it straight away. Tranquil and very peaceful stay
