Hotel is located in interesting 'bastide' and is a very elegant building. I particularly liked the delightful swimming pool which, very permitting, is delightful place to sit in the sun. Can also recommend the restaurant for dinner, though, as with most French restaurants, not a great choice for non-meat eaters. Don't think you will be disappointed if you spend a...

We spent one night in this really beautiful hotel - lovely bright room, immaculately clean and very nicely furnished. The bathroom was lovely and big and the view was super (we paid very slightly extra for this). Felt very posh but was pretty reasonably priced - although we stayed midweek and not in high season so I don't know what...

When we first pulled up to the hotel we were stunned. It's not a hotel, it's a castle!! The beautiful building is right in the middle of an equally beautiful little town, and if you're ever here, this is the place to stay at! While the rooms are just ok, it's the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, and the...

We are looking forward to our 5th or is it the 6th visit to Monpazier staying at Hotel Edward 1er this spring. The region holds endless charm and history for us and staying at the Edward 1er only multiplies the charm. A cozy, perhaps intimate, hotel with just 19 rooms assures a welcoming reception and interactions with owners Marije and...

The favourite place is not only Monpazier but, more particularly, the hotel-restaurant Edward 1st, where the welcome in September last year was as warm, the food as delicious and the ambiance as calm and comfortable as on our previous visits. Consistency of standards is key in this establishment and is ensured by the helpful and charming team with the exemplary...

We returned after staying here 19 years ago and the Dutch couple have enlarged and improved the hotel and dining room a lot. We upgraded our room and had a very nice suite which I would recommend over dodging rafters in the small attic rooms. The dining room is modern and looked to be a good for dinner, but we only...

A distinguished hotel, with wonderful owners and very nice accommodations, this hotel reflects the attention to detail of the owners. A cozy bar, two great restaurants, and well appointed rooms. We appreciated the time Arjan and Marije spent with us. The hotel has its own parking lot, and in house restaurant. Additionally they own a second restaurant which is walking...
