Stayed for last night, (wish it was more). Our room (5) had stunning views, was delightful, cosy and had everything you could wish for. A really comfortable bed provided a great night’s sleep. Breakfast was amazing my wife ( normally has tea and toast ) devoured the porridge with prunes and had the salmon& scrambled eggs. I highly recommend the full Scottish breakfast!. Due to the Covid restrictions we only met our hosts at breakfast. Completely out of nowhere it turned out that Steve and I had a common link with work colleagues from 30 odd yrs previous…..Haha. We will certainly return if we are in the area to stay and catch up. Thanks. Alan & Jill
Stayed at ards house in August 2021, after being let down where we were staying we rang ards House at 6pm on a Saturday and half hour later he had sorted us some rooms out. on arrival he showed us the rooms a double and a twin room both were lovely and spotlessly clean, beds comfy and bathrooms nice also tea coffee and water and a tunocks provided. The living room you could sit in was nice and had great views of the hills and sea. Breakfast has plenty of choice and was very tasty we had Scottish breakfast and my son has pancakes. Location is ideal for local pubs and close to oban only 4 miles away. We would definitely use again thanks ARDS house.
Ards House is a lovely big detached Victorian villa overlooking the Firth of Lorn. It is beautifully decorated and maintained and the owners have obviously set themselves very high standards - and they have achieved them. My Wife and I have just returned from a 12 night stay and we were delighted by the attention to detail and the warm generosity of our hosts. Our bedroom (Room 3) was big, beautifully decorated and furnished with a big comfortable bed. There is a sofa facing the window where we sat and watched bird life, boating and sunsets. There are even binoculars provided - it's that good! The bathroom is big and fully equipped with a spa bath and a shower. Downstairs there is a large lounge with a constant fire giving out a gentle heat that seems to permeate the entire house. There is a big and imaginative breakfast menu but the dinners we enjoyed in Oban meant that we were rarely able to take full advantage of it. Ample private car parking space is provided just across the road. There are a couple of decent restaurants within walking distance and the bustling little town of Oban with its many excellent restaurants, good shops and ferries out to the islands is barely 5 miles of easy road away. All in all I would say the Connel is the perfect base from which to explore the glorious West Highland countryside and islands. And Ards House is a pleasure to come back too at the end of the day.…
Spent 2 fab nights here and would thoroughly recommend it. Firstly, the car park across the road is very handy. Our room was beautiful (room 2) with a large bathroom and a fabulous sea view. The bed was extremely comfy. The complimentary still and sparkling water and the Tunnocks tea cakes were a lovely bonus. There was plenty of storage in the room and even a pair of binoculars to study the stunning view. Breakfast was brilliant - a large selection to suit all tastes. I had the full Scottish on the first morning and it was delicious. On my second morning I had the croissant, cheese, ham and tomatoes and it was lovely. There's also a large selection of cereals, yoghurts and fruit. You definitely won't go hungry in this place! We didn't get the chance to use the lounge as we were out quite late but we had a peek and it was huge. Lots of comfy chairs and sofas, again with that stunning view. Our hosts were great and nothing was too much trouble. We'd love to go back again soon. Thank you for such a great visit. …
I travel Scotland a lot staying in Guest Houses frequently. Ard House easily falls in the top places I have stayed. Its well appointed, with a superb ambience, The room itself was a decent size and very comfortable, The bathroom again a decent size and spotless. The bed very comfortable. The pleasing decor of the room just added to the whole relaxed atmosphere of Ard House. The Breakfast was served by very friendly staff and ideal for the start of the day. Carparking often a downside on Guest house's, Is not a problem a small guest car park opposite provides safe off road parking.
