Detailed Reviews
This was a wonderful couples only resort. We love that there are only 12 rooms so never crowded! We celebrated my birthday. The room was comfortable and spacious. We had a view looking over the lake. There were some challenges for room cleaning, but Maria carefully explained what we should do and how they would accommodate our needs. We were very satisfied.
The lodge is conveniently located near the small town of Minden. The drive from Hamilton was about 3 hours.
Due to covid all our meals were served on an outside deck overlooking the water. The weather was perfect for outside dining. We had the meal package which included breakfast and dinner. We were not disappointed in any of the food. The meals were all superb, more than 5*! The portions were generous and scrumptious with a good variety of choices! You could order wine or bring your own for a corkage fee.
If you have mobility issues, there are steps leading down to the waterfront, but once there you can be comfortable on loungers, swings or chairs. kayaks, canoes and SUPs were available for use as well as some floaties. The water was a perfect temperature for swimming.
This is definitely a gem and we would highly recommend. We are booking for our Anniversary 2021.

Once again Heather Lodge made our evening a memory to treasure. We arrived just on time for our reservation, we were seated immediately. Our drinks were offered immediately and arrived within minutes of ordering. We were given sufficient time to contemplate our four course meal. The mushroom soup was delicious, the appetizers were served quickly and the shrimp cocktail sauce and duck burchetta were both fabulous. The chicken supreme and schnitzel were absolutely perfectly prepared, served hot and time between apps and main was spot on. The deserts death by chocolate cheese cake apple Carmel pie were both delightful.
The 🌹 upon arrival was a very classy touch and certainly set the stage for a most enjoyable dinner. Our servers were outstanding!
Thank you for a very well prepared meal and a wonderful dining experience!

We were in Haliburton for vacation the last week of August and stumbled on this jewel of a restaurant totally by accident, but what a happy little accident it was! The setting is stunning, on a hill overlooking the river on a patio covered in fairy lights. The staff was very accommodating, moving tables around on their books to squeeze in a table for 2 on a Friday night.
Dinner was a 4 course meal (salad, appy, main, and dessert) with coffee/tea for a set price of $55 per person. The food was amazing. I had a caprese salad, camambert fritters, sirloin steak, and a delicious chocolate caramel cake. The evening was a little chilly and one of the staff made the rounds providing blankets to all the patrons sitting on the patio which was such a nice touch. (Blankets were not shared - once you were finished with it they took it away to be laundered so no COVID concerns.
Staff and patrons wore masks at all times except when seated at their appropriate table. Tables were booked for the evening with only one sitting so no turn over, and reservation times appeared to be staggered so there was never anyone waiting. All social distancing parameters were followed.
Loved this so much we are now looking at booking the Inn for a weekend getaway!

Upon our arrival we were met by the owner Maria, who explained the Resort routine and the COVID-19 rules. She then showed us around and to our room. She was very friendly and she checked in with us numerous times to make sure we were enjoying our stay. We stayed in a studio room which was nice and it had a bar bridge. We were supplied our own life jackets to enjoy the water-sports offered. I tried a SUP which was a fun experience. My wife forgot her toothbrush and they provided one free of charge. The breakfasts and the four course dinners were absolutely amazing. Everything we ate was done to perfection. We sat on the patio overlooking the lake and had the same table for each meal. The mornings were cool sitting outside so the staff comes around with a basket of blankets to warm you up. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The resort was so peaceful and is a great place to reconnect with your spouse. I highly recommend.

PROs: The COVID protocol incredible. Everyone wears mask indoors and outdoors. You are assigned a ‘specific’ table for eating that no one else uses during your stay. Meals delivered to your room if you prefer (we did this for breakfast).
Room #7 is an end unit on the top floor. Lots of trees and great for bird watching.
The room was clean and excellently prepared. Aired out 24 hours before our arrival. CONs: The king bed is getting soft, which meant stiff backs in the morning.
Hwy 35 quite noisy. Motorcycles and trucks heard regularly which spoils the sitting on deck experience. It does get quiet at night.
Food is fantastic and a different menu every night. I would return at a less busy time of the year (with regard to Hwy noise) and think this is the best place right now due to COVID.

We were two couples away for a get away in these crazy times. This lodge lived up to its reviews and then some. The rooms were clean and well equipped. The washrooms are a little tight, but not really an issue.
The staff are all excellent. Friendly, accommodating and really interested in providing a great experience.
The dining was the highlight of this mid November getaway. Full 4 course dinner with lots of choices. The soups were amazing, and the mains were always dressed with incredible sauces. Also, bring your own wine for a minimal corkage fee.
The breakfasts were more than enough to keep one satisfied for the day.
Great service in the dining room made everything great.
The COVID protocol was above necessary and yet not a distraction from feeling away pampered.
We will return. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an adults only retreat in Haliburton area.

Had a 4 night stay with adult daughter. I’ve been several times with my late husband so got to show my guest some of my favourite things to do in the area.
Maria is always so warm and welcoming. Room # 6 has a balcony with a beautiful view of 12 Mile Lake- a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine before dinner. The room is comfortable with a cosy fireplace. They provide one fire log per day but I always bring a box of my own.
The kitchen with owner/chef James puts out incredible meals with a different menu every evening. Inn guests have preferential seating in the sun room - the same table for your entire stay so you can see the lake, the changing colours and the birds at the feeders. There were an incredible number of Blue Jays this visit!
The Lodge has a nice big dock with a fire pit. Canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, peddle boats and life jackets are provided. Maria will direct you to many interesting sites like the White Water Preserve which is a world class competitive kayak course. The Studio Tour is an annual event the first 2 weekends of October so there is lots to do before enjoying another superb 4 course meal at the Lodge.

Heather Lodge is located in an absolutely gorgeous setting on Twelve Mile Lake, with stunning views from the outdoor terrace, where we had our meals. The meals were among the best we've ever had, and we are true foodies - dinner in particular is an experience that shouldn't be missed!! We felt very welcomed by the warm staff and service was exceptional. The waterfront is absolutely beautiful and well appointed with chairs, loungers, and all types of water toys. The grounds are pristine and the rooms impeccably clean. COVID-19 protocols are clear and easy to follow. I can't recommend Heather Lodge highly enough for a couples getaway to truly relax in the Halliburton Highlands spendour and enjoy some exquisitely delicious food!! Thank you Maria and team for a wonderful experience!!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at this lovely lodge on Twelve Mile lake. Maria was a welcoming host. We stayed in the spacious and well appointed Lakeview room with balcony. I was glad of the recently installed air conditioning. Although there was some traffic noise outside, the room was very quiet. The grounds are beautiful with a nice lawn and dock. Lots of shady or sunny seating. The food was wonderful and abundant. Dinner always had a delicious soup, interesting appetizers and varying main courses. I enjoyed trout, arctic char and prime rib steak. Cheesecake was the strong point on the dessert front. The weather cooperated so we had all meals on the patio with good views of the water and bird feeder activity.
We went on a couple of nice local hikes (Hawk Lake Log Chute, and James Cooper Lookout trails), and a drive around Eagle Lake which ended in busy Haliburton town. Our second full day was spent on the Lodge dock - swimming, reading and watching a few cottage boats go by. So peaceful.

My husband and I were trying to have a nice , quiet getaway . There were only about three or four rooms booked during our stay due to covid . The first night we had a pleasant stay , the second night the room was booked right beside us and the walls are unfortunately paper thin and we could hear every conversation until 1 am . Other than that the food was great .
