Over the years we have been to many other Inns in the Haliburton/Minden area, for this time Heather’s Lodge was what the doctor ordered for this fall’s retreat. The first things you notice as you turn into the driveway, is how everything seems to be in order & well marked, this held true the whole weekend. Maria (Owner) checked us in, you can see she loves/takes pride in what she is doing as she is showing us the lodge dining room and our table for the weekend. The lodge is facing the 12 Mile Lake and has an outdoor patio/deck with a large back yard/beach area, beautiful this time of year. I believe there are 3 main buildings, main lodge includes office, kitchen & dining room. The 2nd & 3rd building are 2-story with rooms on each floor. The 3rd building, not all rooms face the water, our room 12 on the 2nd floor had a partial view of the water, best of all it was at the end of the building and felt secluded. Heather Lodge practices a “Covid” protocol for the room & before each dining room sitting for everyone’s safety. Note: The internet is slow. We had the 2 meals/day plan during our stay, Maria’s hearty breakfast for the most part, held us to dinner. The breakfast menu provided us with options on the style of meal that worked best for each of us. The dining room had homey décor with Christmas in the air. There is a choice of 3 or 4 course meal, choice of soup/salad (Caesar was excellent), appetizers, main & dessert (3/4 to choose from). Each night, the menu mains, appetizers & desserts changed to give a variety. In the end, location excellent, close to many small Artisan towns. Our room spacious, secluded & had all the amenities. Many outside activity/trails to explore (the Haliburton Sculpture Forest is a must). The food is a bounty of tasteful and delicious along with seasonal ingredients with a local flair that we believe was 2nd to none. Lastly, Maria, James and the staff did everything to make our stay special & at home. For example, Maria gave us a small refund for water issues we had experienced one afternoon during our stay. Not all places do that & we have stayed at many. We had a fabulous stay & plan to rebook for another stay this time next year or sooner.…
Had a fabulous 4 nights at Heather Lodge. We arrived just before peak colour but trees were turning around the shore and views over 12 Mile Lake from our balcony and from the deck were beautiful. Maria and her staff are wonderful. Covid Protocols are in place and I felt a perfectly safe environment. No one enters your room during your stay so there is no housekeeping but you order whatever you need and it appears quickly at your door. The fireplaces burn logs with no smoke. They supply one/day but you can bring your own and we did! There are various water craft provided for your enjoyment, a large dock and waterside fire pit plus a large licensed deck with heaters. Aside from the views, the food is fabulous. MAP packages are very reasonable. Read reviews under Heather Lodge Restaurant. They should be FIRST but they don’t have enough reviews. The promotion was to book for same time next year with 2021 rates guaranteed- I jumped at the opportunity.…
We really enjoyed our time at Heather Lodge, our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. The grounds are also well maintained with many water sports readily available. The management and staff are all very friendly and accomodating. The Covid protocols are well thought out, yet unobtrusive. The highlight has to be the meals. The menu is varied and everything is freshly prepared and delicious. The portions are large, so be sure to come hungry!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at this lovely lodge on Twelve Mile lake. Maria was a welcoming host. We stayed in the spacious and well appointed Lakeview room with balcony. I was glad of the recently installed air conditioning. Although there was some traffic noise outside, the room was very quiet. The grounds are beautiful with a nice lawn and dock. Lots of shady or sunny seating. The food was wonderful and abundant. Dinner always had a delicious soup, interesting appetizers and varying main courses. I enjoyed trout, arctic char and prime rib steak. Cheesecake was the strong point on the dessert front. The weather cooperated so we had all meals on the patio with good views of the water and bird feeder activity. We went on a couple of nice local hikes (Hawk Lake Log Chute, and James Cooper Lookout trails), and a drive around Eagle Lake which ended in busy Haliburton town. Our second full day was spent on the Lodge dock - swimming, reading and watching a few cottage boats go by. So peaceful.…
Upon our arrival we were met by the owner Maria, who explained the Resort routine and the COVID-19 rules. She then showed us around and to our room. She was very friendly and she checked in with us numerous times to make sure we were enjoying our stay. We stayed in a studio room which was nice and it had a bar bridge. We were supplied our own life jackets to enjoy the water-sports offered. I tried a SUP which was a fun experience. My wife forgot her toothbrush and they provided one free of charge. The breakfasts and the four course dinners were absolutely amazing. Everything we ate was done to perfection. We sat on the patio overlooking the lake and had the same table for each meal. The mornings were cool sitting outside so the staff comes around with a basket of blankets to warm you up. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The resort was so peaceful and is a great place to reconnect with your spouse. I highly recommend.…
