From the 4th to the 7th of January, my family of four together with our friends, another family of four, visited Sabalos Lodge, La Casa de Yaró. As soon as we artived we got welcomed on the hotel's deck by a sweet man, followed by a younger one who helhed us to carry our bags in. But maybe I should...

The cabins over the river are great, especially during the daytime. Lying in a hammock watching the birds, fishermen and boats is lovely. After dark, using a red torch helps to keep the bugs away, and I recommend showering in the daytime too unless you want a bathroom full of flying things. There is a network of trails on the...

If you do Rio San Juan, stay here!! It's an amazing little place and they take great care of you. Great food. The bungalows are simple but perfect for the jungle-feeling! Situated right by the river. You fall asleep peacefully listening to the wildlife outside your hut.

My sweetheart and I stayed here in mid-August and absolutely fell in love. Such a beautiful location and incredibly peaceful - we could just sit in a hammock and watch the birds and fish go by for hours. Tranquility and romance off the beaten path!

The location and cabins are absolutely amazing. But that is really it. The service is poor and the staff are interested in only selling you a tour and their services. As others have mentioned, this is an extremely remote location and be prepared to make a long walk to town in order to find food. We stayed here for three...

Sabalos Lodge is wonderful for one that is looking for adventure and I highly recommend it. It is only accessible by water, the only mode of transport in this area. Friendly Staff, Good Food, a wonderful experience, The lodge is trying to preserve the natural environment that it is built in. Will return one day soon. To see how the...

Fantastic location, amazing accommodation but... The food left a lot to be desired. You soon get tired if Chicken, Pork, Beef or fish with the ever present 'gallo y pinto' but bizarrely also with lettuce and mashed potato. You also had to choose your evening meal at breakfast. I suspect so it can be defrosted in time. We also became...

The accommodation was great. Our lodge was directly over the river, open air and as expected no warm water. This was not a problem. The experience and tranquility of the river were great. Great views watching the locals fish and passing boats going by. The howler monkeys were in abundance and they made themselves known at dusk and when it...

The hotel is nice, but it can be too basic, there's no hot water and it gets chilly in the morning, tap water is dirty, you don't have options to eat other than the hotel itself and food is kind of expensive. Nice manager, mediocre waiters. Pangas stop working during Easter, so transportation can be quite expensive.

Dear Wa17gs The main idea of Sabalos Lodge is just to be rustic. We want you to get into as a Tarzan hut. We offer basic accommodation as standard and comfortable toilet sinks and shower. You are correct when you say that we don’t have hot water and sometimes it could be chilly in the morning. We just install a...

Sabalos Lodge is located on beautiful grounds with stunning views of the Rio San Juan. The rooms on the water are unique and it was easy to lounge around all day in our room just staring at the water rush by and the birds flock. Sunsets were amazing. Our complaints lie with the service. From the moment we walked in,...
