We had the most disgusting experience here today. We actually decided to leave before cheese, desert and coffee. We spent 1 hour waiting for our first course and had drunk our tiny and I mean tiny glass of wine before it arrived. The portion was extremely small and was eaten in minutes. We then waited another hour waiting for our...

A terrible welcome. We actually thought we had come to the wrong place. There were plastic chairs stacked outside and the chef was slumped in a plastic chair in the "reception". Led through dingy corridors to our 140Euro room we were astonished to be shown a tiny, dingy, smelly (cigarettes?) room with a dirty net curtain at the window obscuring...

Best dinner we had in a while. Excellent and very nice staff. Thank you, and especially the nice maitre d'hotel, for helping us with the bikes :). Very nice swimming pool, amazing location. The only thing we missed was an airconditioning. It can be very warm in summer.

Wow! Had a fine dinner here 20th September. Gerald Garcia heads a formidible team. The food was excellent, the service superb. The setting is wonderful, in a small castle type courtyard with high walls, a moat etc. The only negative comment I would make is that the serving staff almost appear over attentive? as if ruled by fear rather than...

Beautiful old building, quite dark inside, but had a lovely feel. The bedroom was comfortable, but it was really hot on the evening and there wasn't a fan or a/c. The pool was lovely and the owner / head chef gave us a lift to the pool area on a golf buggy, which was nice. The show stopper is the...

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel very much but in particular the dinner we had here was wonderful-ok it was expensive but worth the money. As for the hotel it is charming. A little difficult to find as it is quite a way from Castelnaudary down some small windy roads - better to arrive in daylight if you can!...

My husband and I are crazy for Cathare's history! that's why we have choosen this place. Pictures were nice on the internet but the reality was much more better. A wonderfull place, the hotel, the restaurant, the staff... everything was high class level ! Thanks to the chef and his wife for the stay we had in their hotel.

Our room was a 5 min walk down hill from the chateau. Not fun in rain and the golf cart is terrifying on the steep hill. There was no lounge as it was being used by a large group and the special menu for 31st dec and 1 jan was the same. The food was stingy, the rooms tatty and...

I am stunned by the negative reviews. We were referred to this hotel by the local tourist office. It remains one of our favorite hotels of all time. We loved the mash-up of hip decor with the historic building. The countryside was beautiful. So much to see and do, was so close by. But the best part? The food! Breakfast...

Our first thought was who had stolen the original chateau doors. Front entrance totally underwhelming and everything they don't want you see is covered by curtains. Behind the curtains are old boxes and plastic bags and a good impression it isn't. There's a smell of cigarette smoke coming from somewhere and reading a previous review it must have been the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
... more   less
