We rented villa #41 for 2 weeks, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths. Well equipped kitchen and air conditioners in each room. Beautiful views from the balcony overlooking Playa Ocotal. Quite a climb to the top of the resort but worth it. Advisable to have a car to go into Coco to shop and go on excursions but taxis are $12 round trip and there are lots of tour companies. Loved the beach and the pools!
We had an agreement with U-Save car rental for a 12 passenger van in Feb. We booked in November, confirmed in December, stopped in to reconfirm and see the van in January. Upon going to pick it up, no van was there. There were no apologies or alternatives. Nothing. They totally broke the agreement and left us stranded.
We were charged an additional $28 for proposed cleaning costs after our one night stay at apartment 30 which was fine if the apartment had been cleaned before we moved in. I understand dust accumulates while properties are empty but this clearly hadn't been cleaned following the last stay with filthy showers (one infested with ants) and dirty kitchen units and crockery. Both toilets didn't flush properly, fly screen to balcony broken, property is tired and management company aren't presenting it in a good way - Totally unacceptable
The black sand is interesting and rare! This beach is a hidden gem of Costa rica, it not packed with tourist and gave us a chance to connect with locals and feel the real costa rica. Water is clean and massages are provided on site.
Location - great location, steps to the beach. But a pebble walk from back porch to beach. Beach - clean, gentle, black sand. Snorkeling - very good with very little currents. Staff - very nice, helpful, responsive and professional. Casa 2 - location is one of the best on the complex. Close to the front gate. Walkable to Father Roosters. It is in transition as of this review meaning it has new owners who are doing upgrades so please keep that in mind. As it is, it needs TLC. We arrived and check in was nice and easy. Kitchen - had enough dinnerware and silverware. All miss matching but it was fine for our needs. No condiments at all. No salt or pepper. Cabinets were 100% bare. We left it well stocked. BBQ is by the little soaking pool and is an old converted rim, it worked for our needs but once again we had to buy bbq tongs, wire brush, etc. Showers were horrible and we struggled for water pressure. The two showers were basically a stream leaking from the shower head. Told management and they got it “fixed” within 2 days but it was still more of a strong trickle as opposed to a stream. Blinds were missing and I had to ask 3 times to have them fixed but we finally got them fixed. Washer and dryer worked fine. Cleaners came once or twice a week and did a good job. Furniture is old and outdated. I hate to say it but It was just an okay unit. I truly believe if the owners updated the property, it would be well worth the investment as it has potential, just needs some TLC. A bakery truck stops by on Mondays and Thursdays. They are not cheap but had some goodies worth trying. …
