As my wife and I were due to celebrate our wedding anniversary, I decided a stay in a beautiful French chateau would be a great way to spoil her. I chose the Belle Isle sur Risle, and we drove the 3 hour trip from home via the ferry early Saturday morning. We were met by the most delightful manager, whose...

We stumbled upon this hotel by coincidence and were very lucky to find it! Nice old building in good condition. Brilliant staff and the food outstanding, the best restaurant we have found on this weeklong trip in France. Highly recommend this hotel.

Very nice spot and peaceful surroundings. Classy hotel, nice bedrooms and lovely garden. Although, the whole building would need some serious refurbishing. The restaurant is a real delight, you have different dining rooms and veranda where you can enjoy their excellent dishes. Service is always great, in all sectors, be it the reception or the restaurant. On the negative side,...

The gardens and rivers on both sides make this a magical and unique setting. The building is beautiful and creaky, the restaurant is haute cuisine and the whole experience is a great part of a Normandy trip.

Spent three nights in this marvelous hotel which is an old castle belonging to 1800 period. Excellent service both in the morning and during the day of lodging. All personnel is very professional. The owner is present on site where 28 rooms are available. a pathway along the water for strolling, bicycle and canoe rentals available, apple...

We have been before to this beautiful and tranquil hotel, set in what seems to be a forest on an island in the river Risle. The staff really do make guests feel very welcome. Our room was lovely, the food was really superb and the spa and swimming pool area is a great place to relax and unwind. We were...

A quirky hotel. Words like 'Norman Bates' or faded glory comes to mind but we found it charming. A lovely oasis and respite from driving to Calais from the South of France. The staff especially the owner and proprietress were friendly and helpful. I would recommend it for a short stay.

What a wonderful find for a (long) weekend away! Poised, as its name suggests, on a verdant island in the Risle (a minor tributary of the Seine that joins the main stream near the mouth at Le Havre), this centuries-old mansion was apparently built by the owner of an impressive old mill, just slightly upstream, that took its power from...
