Mike’s Camp is located on Kiwayu Island, one of the many unspoilt, idyllic islands of the Lamu Archipelago, on one of the most stunningly remote places in Kenya Coast. You are offered your own private island where you are safe and undisturbed. Surrounded by miles of soft white sand, turquoise waters and gorgeous coral gardens, it offers one of the only beaches in Kenya on which you can walk for miles without seeing a single soul. We are an Eco Camp where water is brought by donkey and power comes from the wind and the sun. The seven private and spacious bandas are set amongst the sand dunes, with panoramic views. Make of locally weaved palms, they blend harmoniously into the environment. All have mosquito nets, complimentary towels and toiletries, en suite bathrooms, hand painted bucket shower, flushing toilets and laundry service. The living areas are simply decorated with local art crafted from recycled colourful flip flops. Mike's Camp, also includes a sun terrace. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant, with packed lunches available on request. Dine together under the stars. Feast on fresh fish, Seafood, tropical fruits and vegetables. The menus are Swahili and International based using local spices and fresh herbs. It is simple fresh cuisine. We can cater for vegetarians. Picnics in the beach hut are a regular occurrence and people often enjoy a romantic dinner in a unique setting. You can be as relaxed or active as you like. Mike’s Camp offers tranquility, water sports, safaris and fishing in a uniquely homely environment. You can snorkel in the coral reefs off the beach on either side of the island, go sand yachting, kayaking, boogie boarding, sailing, waterskiing, wake boarding, kite surfing, picnicking on neighbouring remote coral islands, deep sea fishing, fly fishing, windsurfing and diving. You can also play table tennis and darts at the Camp. Without any pretensions you can listen to the birds, swim with the fishes and marvel at the beauty of nature… or play your music as loud as your want! Introducing a new spacious banda -Sankuri House- includes 2 rooms (each with their own bathrooms) kitchen, dining area and seating area with a stunning panoramic view of the mangrove and the ocean to relax in after a busy day. It's self catering, so you can prepare your own meals, or our very good local chef can surprise you with delicious food.

Mike, Caroline and the team were fabulous - meeting, greeting and entertaining at the fabulous location on Kiwayu Island.

We were lulled to sleep by the sighing of the distant waves and the breeze through our banda.

Don’t go if you’re idea of luxury is five star resort- this is truly barefoot luxury - no windows, doors, aircon, telephones or room service.

This is proper adventure with all the important things covered - food, company and location.

We spent 4 amazing nights at Mike’s Camp. Everything about this place is magical. The camp is absolutely beautiful and has everything you could possibly need to have the best vacation. The beach is virtually untouched and we were the only ones there - all 12 km just to us! We enjoyed long walks, sand yachting and relaxing. Then, be prepared for some of the best food you can imagine. Seafood brought in from that morning and the freshest of fresh for everything else. The huts that you stay in are just incredible. Comfortable beds, areas to relax and take in all the beautiful views. We had the beach view and were able to witness the eclipse and blood moon from our hut! Mike and Caroline (his sister) are so fun to be around and share stories of living in this magical island. We felt completely safe there hasn’t been a single instance and they have very elaborate safety in place, there is actually a US Navy base 20km away. Do yourself a favor and also visit the lovely villages! We could not recommend Mikes Camp more it was one of the best experiences we could have imagined and can’t wait to come back in the near future.

A beautiful, quaint ecocamp situated on the dunes between teeming mangroves and a pristine white sand beach. It’s a place to find deep peace and solitude - you feel like you are on your own private island. Long walks on the deserted beach; dips in the warm, turquoise waters; snorkeling on the offshore reef with teems of colorful fish and coral; exploring the dunes are just a few of the many rejuvenating activities I enjoyed. Mike, Caroline, and the rest of the staff were very attentive to ensure my stay was pleasant and stress free. Definitely a special place to return to.

Brought the wife and two kids 7 and 9 years old and loved loved loved it. No internet so we really got away. Mike was as pleasant as can be, the food was surprisingly delicious and the beds were very comfy. I’d recommend it to anyone who will listen. Very Robinson Crusoe. Deep sea fishing was fun too. Mangrove Crab Hunting!!! Shell collecting and just relaxing on the beach. Good family fun.

Mike's camp is truly the most amazing, beautiful place on earth. My husband and I recently visited this fabulous place. We were in a gorgeous bandas - Kasikozi, ate incredible fresh food and had the whole miles of beach to ourselves plus the odd goat. Mike who owns the camp is completely charming and his sister Caroline who was there as well is also. We really felt so spoilt. Mike took us snorkeling in the creek and we saw the Picasso fish and we also snorkeled in the sea along a reef you can easily swim to.
It is truly idyllic and I'm not sure how we managed to leave. We will be back...
