If you are after a quiet place outside of the town of Maumere Sao Wisata is great. Its owner Hari looked after us so well during our visit this April. We were the only guests but the A/C, food, service from him and his staff made it a wonderful place to relax. We stayed 4 nights in total either side of a trip to Kelimutu.

One day we enjoyed a day trip to Pulau babi and Hari was on hand to give us advice about how best to get there. He also kindly arranged to take us to the bus station (for Moni) and the airport free of charge.

You can enjoy snorkelling off the beach but during our stay they were in the process of renovating the pool and building a larger sea wall following damage from large waves.

Stopped there for lunch, didn't sleep there though...lovely location, if you like peace and quiet...you see and hear the ocean from the restaurant...swimming pool pool was closed for maintenance though...distance to the city is about 10 km, regular public transport passes on the main road

Flores was pretty basic travelling but the Sao Wisata resort was everything we needed at the end a hectic week in Flores. We stayed in a standard room with cod water. i think we were 2 of 4 guests at the hotel but the service was still good and they were very helpful with all of our requests. The beach was almost deserted and the pool out of action but it didn't matter for what we wanted.

In 1992 an earthquake devastated this area of Flores along with this hotel. I stayed two nights in August 2011 and it is under complete renovation. It is expected to be completed in December 2011. As a result my two night stay was not the best experience. The lobby area is used as storage, the pool is empty, there are construction materials everywhere. I was in an un-renovated cabin which was very basic. The only other guests were a group of about 8 divers who were studying and mapping the coral reef.

But they tried hard -- the restaurant was excellent and all food was cooked to order, there was good snorkeling off the beach and the staff was very friendly. At one of our dinners, the management had brought in entertainment for us.

I would like to return to this hotel after it is completely renovated. With its large seafront footage and updated bungalows, it will be one of the nicer places to stay in Maumere.

We had booked to stay 3 nights but stayed only one. This is a bit of a sadly dilapidated place. Was practically empty. Rooms and facilities are dated, but with A/C in standard rooms. The food was not great. Expensive compared with other better places to stay nearby.

Great hotel, quiet, relaxing, very professional staff. Harry is amazing. Thoughtful, very nice, helpful with absolutely everything. He is working hard on environmental issues, involving neighboring schools and fishermen.

This was the best guest house I have ever stayed in Indonesia considering the facts- friendliness, food, cleanliness, beach location, newly renovated place.
Harry is amazing and is full of resources.
I usually take the time to write either very good or very bad service. So, if you are get stuck in Maumere like me for various reasons ( flight cancellations, visa xtensions) then this is a perfect place to get out of the city and be on the beach. Although its on the beach, its about 15 mins drive to the airport.

This cute accommodation was probably the best place within 7 months of traveling through Southeast Asia.
After traveling through all of Flores from the West till Maumere we had really amazing and relaxing 4 days here.
As it already was about to get low season, we were the only guests (consider this when you want to come here alone), and we felt like kings! :)
The owner Harri ist just unbelievable and amazing! Helpful, friendly and really nice - and if you want he can tell you some nice and interesting stories about Flores and its history!
At our last day, Harri took us to the fish-market in Maumere and we bought our own fish (for almost nothing), and got the fish grilled right near the restaurant - really amazing, it was probably the best fish I ever had!
Also the rest of the staff is just amazing!!! More friendliy is just not possible! :)

The beach is rather dark, so nothing special. But clean and the snorkeling is ok (although it doesn´t look like from the outise)!

The rooms were also nice and very clean (in Flroes the best I had, especially for that price).

I would say: 100% recommendation! Just perfect!

We booked on Traveloka, showed up, were taken to a sad-looking dirty room by a lady who didn't speak any English, but then were told to go away because they are closed for renovation. The place looks utterly abandoned, don't go there until after the renovation, whenever that happens...

2017: Some resort facilities are off service, but the main facilities are open.
Idyllic site with a beautiful park, not much frequented by tourists. They group in the surrounding, more commercial resorts.
Rooms are proper and comperatively cheap. 40% of the competitors is a word.
If you like a calmer stay while tolerating some provisorials, have a try.
Beach not quite suitable for swimming, but stunning waterfront panorama.
Pool out of service. Good restaurant, limited choice, only with preorder, beers on stock. No annoying tvs! Breakfast simple, served with devotion, good coffee (rare).
