This guesthouse was part of the owner's family for more than 200 years. Located directly on the main attraction which is the plaza mayor of Villa de Leyva, it's set a little further back so that you actually feel pretty peaceful inside, despite whatever that may be going on in the plaza. There's also a bar upstairs that you can't even hear. Definitely older place but decently kept up. Only a few minor issues like few electric outlets, and slow wifi, but those are modern amenities that you could probably make do with for a night or two. Beds were moderately hard, and rather comfortable. Shower had good pressure and good temperature not running hot or cold like many older places do. Guy who runs the place is a nice guy and speaks decent English. Or practice your Spanish with him. Good option for Villa de Leyva.

The location can't be beat, the layout around well-maintained courtyards was lovely, and the staff were friendly and applied themselves to an initial issue with wifi access. The property is quite old though and there's not much to be done about that. The cold water faucet in my shower was immovable (you hear about cold showers at hotel, but scalding showers aren't any easier!). The floors and walls are also very thin. In the night I heard snoring from more than one neighboring room and the creaking floor from every person tiptoeing to the bathroom. The wifi was also problematic, and when a router reset resolved the initial access issue, the bandwidth still allowed little more than sending e-mails -- a disappointment since I was trying to post pictures of the lovely town! I would still rate it a good value for a night, but go in well-informed about the advantages and disadvantages.

This a beaut wee place in the main plaza. The room was quite small, and the beds rather hard, but the shower was great! Hot! Breakfast was excellent as well, and there are more places around to eat and drink than you could count.

Good local style hotel, old colonial house, situated on the gran plaza. Good breakfast. Diner in neighbourhood, eg just left of the Church on the same plaza. Nice sunrise and sunset… Look at the people, enjoy the plaza at Sunrise ans sunset and the beautifull city that was first conserved due to poverty and the wisely to prosper tourism,. A nice and tranquil place!

Stayed in this hotel back in November 2010 with my then girlfriend, and revisited it in August 2018 with the same girl - now my wife - and two daughters. :-) It's a really nice hotel in a great location right on the main square. The (included) breakfast was nice, and the authentic air of the building really added to the visit. Be aware that the hotel has a car park a couple of minutes walk from the hotel, so you can drop your luggage off at the door of the hotel, and the hotel staff will show you where the carpark is. If you are visiting Villa de Leyva, make sure you are there on a Saturday for the weekly market a few blocks walk from the hotel. Its a really fascinating farmers market - full of lots of fruit and veg that you won't recognise if you are from Europe - and also lots of other interesting stuff like trainers, fake designer tshirts and touristy stuff like the traditional Colombian 'sombrero vueltiao' hat. If you are interested in visiting the market, please check out my vlog by searching on the internet for "ROSSCOABROAD Villa de Leyva"
