Hospitality since 1905, Skogstad Hotel is a historic hotel in the heart of the center of Hemsedal. The hotel has long traditions and culture, with history and the atmosphere in the walls. The hotel has in recent years undergone a major renovation process, and this year's news is that we now have ski-in with the new skislope going from the skicenter. The story of Skogstad Hotel began in 1905 as a combination of farm, general store, inn and guest house. There were animals like chickens and pigs that put eggs and bacon on the table at the time, and farm operations were underway throughout the year. Then as now, Hemsedal was a stopover between the east and west, and the guest house was open only in summer and in Easter week. In 1961, the first ski trail in Hemsedal village was made by volunteers. That's when tourism to the village began to rise. The pension began to take in winter visitors, it was built on and Skogstad finally got hotel status in 1964. The hotel has adapted to the flow of tourists and currently has facilities to satisfy the most. The hotel is today still a family hotel run by the fifth genration. The staff at the hotel has taken care of the homely and informal atmosphere of the transport station time.

I was there 5 nights with group fishing in area. Hemsedal a major winter resort, not so much in summer. Room OK though carpet a bit worn. No A/C, which normally does not matter but it was hot when we were there. Comforter on bed was too heavy, so hard to stay cool. Good WiFi.

We stayed here for two weekends, either side of a 4 day skiing/ camping trip in the local area. Prior to our arrival, Liza and her team were incredible at accommodating our (constantly changing) requests, organizing massages, and recommending hotels. On arrival, nothing was too

Stayed for a short stay before a ski-holiday in Hemesdal. Very convenient located right on the main road close to stores and restaurants and about 5 min drive to the slopes. The room was very good for a family of 4. Very good breakfast as well!

"Maybe ask for a refurbished room?"
"Family rooms are on top of the disco and very noisy"
"My advice, avoid this hotel."
"I'd probably pay the extra and go for a normal double rather than a twin economy as from all my trips to Scandinavia I don't think I've ever come across a double bed so if you were sharing with a friend it wouldn't matter."
