I recently spent three nights in Anisa Guesthouse in Harar and could recommend it to anyone. For one, the location is wonderful. Tucked away in one of the winding alleys in the northeast quarter of the old town, away from the busy center, you can...More

We had a nice stay in this authentic Harari house for one night. The rooms are basic but clean and the bathroom is shared between the guests (maximum 4 rooms) and the host family. It's a lovely trip down the winding alleyways of Harar to...More

I can help with this. It can be confusing. She lives in this guesthouse with her family, and the only way you can make reservations is via other people, the tour guides in Harar. I'm not sure if you can do so via others, but I know you can through hailu_harar at yahoo (for some reason won't let me put in the e-mail in my response in the normal way). Hailu can make a reservation on your behalf with Anisa. Hailu is also an amazing tour guide. Also set up a walking tour with him. We stayed at Anisa Guest House and did the walking tour with him and thought it was great. And definitely feed the hyenas! I spent a month in East Africa. Harar was my favorite place. Enjoy!
