Definitely one of the best Perigourdi
ne Salads I have eaten. Looks a nice place to stay as well.
Belves is a very pleasant hill top town with stunning views and many beautiful buildings. We'll be back to see more of it when it's cooler. ( currently 34C!)

A damp Monday lunchtime in the pretty town of Belves was turned into a treat when we discovered this lovely little restaurant. Friendly staff, good food and great value at 14€50 per person for the set menu of four courses. Lots of help when I tried my limited french, all good fun!

We did not stay at this hotel but visited for lunch. The décor is nice and the waitress very friendly and tried to explain, in her very limited English, what the dishes were. Her teenage assistant would rather have been elsewhere and did not smile once the entire time we were there. We both ordered steaks, one well done and one medium and a plate of vegetables between us.
The steaks arrived fairly quickly but neither was as expected, both were very rare. I will admit that this could have been a communication issue so we said nothing and proceeded to eat them. They were served on cold plates and as they had not been cooked through they went cold very quickly. After a while we asked about the vegetables. They arrived just as we finished our steaks followed shortly after by the bread rolls. For the price I expect better service and a decent meal. There was no use in complaining at the time as we do not have sufficient French and the staff had little or no English.
Definitely off my Christmas card list.

Having been eating here for years, enjoy lunch or dinner and then pop over the rod for beer or 3 or 4. It's fantastic, cannot be faulted. Stunning food, stunning people, stunning location and, oh, did I mention its awesome...

Set on the edge of Belves, Le Home is definitely worth a visit. The set price menus are exceptional value for money with a 'plat au jour' option also available. Service is generally good although some staff are more welcoming than others.

The restaurant at this hotel in is well situated in a central part of the beautiful town of Belves. The restaurant itself is clean and well presented. By current French standards the food here is good, given that our experience of food served in restaurants France is that it is often of low quality, frequently overpriced and often not fresh (rotting salad is not uncommon in our experience).
Our mistake here, which may be cultural, was to ask to share meals because we are not used to eating large amounts of food. We ordered wine, soft drinks and one set menu between two adults and set menu between our two kids. It was not made clear to us that this was not appropriate at the time we ordered. It was however made clear by the floor manager's less than subtle sideline muttering, body language and eventual approach to our table - that this was not on. We asked for an explanation as to why and she stormed off refusing to speak to us. Not wanting to upset things we then ordered more food to appease her. This seemed to smooth things over a little but our overall experience in this restaurant was tense and unpleasant. Not ideal.

The hotel lies at the centre of the village of Belves which was voted one of the prettiest in France. It is a homely and clean place with a restaurant downstairs which was unfortunately closed on the day we were there so we didn't get to try the food. Breakfast though was a reasonable 6 euros and was substantial. We stayed one night only and we were made to feel very welcome by the owners who also spoke English. There was no parking at the hotel but there was a spot directly across from the hotel which was very easy. The hosts were charming and very accommodating. All in all very good value for money. Highly recommended.

We just loved this. Traditional, regional food done well, without pomp and with a decent price. It sits on the edge of a square in the gorgeous town of Belves - and it's always full of locals, which is a good sign.

We stayed here for one night in August, and I cannot fault the place. For the price you pay I found the rooms to be generously sized with comfortable beds and a nice modern bathroom. Air conditioning or a fan would have been a welcome addition though as it got very hot at night. We had dinner at the restaurant, and the 'plat du jour' was Steak Tartare, it's the first time i have ever tried it and it was lovely.
All in all it was an excellent stay and I would gladly recommend Le Home to anybody.
