In the heart of Belvès, medieval city, one of the « Plus Beaux Villages de France », this former grocery shop has been transformed into a charming hotel. Michel and Muriel Fischer’s goal was to give the whole a “home sweethome” intimate atmosphere. Nothing was left to chance between the personalized welcome, the daily exchanges with the couple about tips and sites to discover, the harmony of the antique furniture (family owned and/or gathered) combined with the quality of the materials and fabrics. The bedrooms are spacious (26m² the smallest to 60m² the largest), individual controlled air-conditioning and/or heating, WC are separate from the bathroom. Beauty and calm in the heart of all major sites, castles and bastides.

In October 2023 for 4 days we had the joy to be guests at this beautiful hotel in charming medieval Belves which is positioned in the Dordogne area of France mid way between Toulouse and Bordeaux. The new (7 months) and enthusiastic owners of this very tastefully and recently restored period hotel were marvelous hosts being ever present and keen to ensure our comforts and also the quality of our trips in the area to see Chateau’s visit restaurants, wineries and other attractions close to the River Dordogne.
Mathieu and Nathalie provide a range of beautifully decorated room types, each different given the medieval period building styles of long ago. All charming! They also present beautiful breakfasts that can be enjoyed in the spacious and bright dining room or outside on classic Parisian terrace furniture in the novel and quiet walking only street on which the hotel is centrally located. Mathieu is a talented Chef and also bakes cakes on a daily basis to serve with Coffee in or outside the hotel. There are very quaint shops, good restaurants and bars on the walking street within a 2-3 minutes walk yet the environment remains peaceful and particularly quiet at night where nothing will disturb your sleep and rest. We came to the Clement V from Montreal, Quebec where we well know the ways of French Cuisine and Hospitality and we were delighted with our stay hence this recommendation and endorsement of the quality and high standard of accommodation available here.

We stayed for two nights in this lovely hotel in November. Nathalie and Mathieu were such amazing hosts. One of our party had issues with the stairs and Mathieu offered to serve their breakfast in their room which was so lovely. The rooms were very comfortable and you did not leave breakfast feeling hungry. Thoughtful, friendly hosts. Thanks for a lovely stay. Sue and Paul

Matthieu and Nathalie are such wonderful people. I stayed here with my family in May, and it was stunning. The hotel is beautiful, and it has a great balance between boutique rustic and modern amenities. Rooms come with AC and nice bathrooms, and the hotel is renovated, but you still feel like you are staying in an old historic hotel. Very clean, very welcoming. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and I can highly recommend for all tastes.

Wow what a wonderful hotel. So very French - from the stylish rooms to the stunning views to the gracious hosts and the home-cooked breakfasts. We were a group of 10 cyclists who stayed here for 2 nights. Matthieu and Nathalie invited us to treat the hotel as our home and we certainly felt relaxed and well cared for.

We booked two rooms - one double and the large family room in the attic. Both rooms were comfort and clean and the air conditioning was a blessing! The whole hotel is full of character - you feel like you are sleeping in a real piece of history!
We had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both were really tasty and fresh. The breakfast was a real treat. Would definitely visit again!

Situated just off the Place du Marché of a picturesque Périgord village. The couple who runs the hotel is friendly and helpful and speak good English. We stayed with our small dog and everyone was welcoming. Our room had a view on the countryside and was simple but perfectly comfortable and clean. Good breakfast too.

Warm and welcoming staff, comfortable rooms with cool and quirky feel.
The highlight was a top rate breakfast served outdoors!
It was a joy to see the pride the owners took in the breakfast- we are just sorry we hadn’t time to stay for dinner!
We’ll be back!

This hotel is way too expensive for what you get. My family and I have stayed in hotels all over France and all over the world and this has to be the worst value for money we have experienced. Also, check their Ts and Cs - they are very onerous and they will take your money if you book and have to cancel, even if you give them 2 weeks' notice to cancel 1 night. They will still charge you. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.

What can you say about a property that makes you feel so welcome?
Not only is it very French, fresh, clean and tidy our host Muriel is so welcoming friendly and helpful that superlatives are not enough.
We arrived late, no problem as Muriel greeted and welcomed us to her hotel - we knew then we were in the right place. There was no need for us to visit the tourist office as Muriel was our personal tourist guide, so friendly and helpful.
The finer touches - potpourri in the hallway also add to the experience.
If we were to visit Belves again, we would not consider staying anywhere else.

My husband, adult son and I stayed for a week at the Clement V Hotel In Belves, Dordogne, France, to attend my niece's wedding in Cadouin and Urval at the end of July, 2015. We are "delighted" that we did so! From the moment I phoned the hotel last Autumn from the USA and spoke with Mme Muriel Fischer, the owner, who spoke excellent English, I knew that we would have a wonderful stay! Muriel is extremely organized, she sends confirmation e-mails immediately, she is so knowledgeable about all aspects of the Dordogne area, not only accurate local knowledge, but far and wide! She provided us with step-by step information, in writing, to drive to Belves from Toulouse Airport , and, told us about the free parking lot in the village a stone's throw from the hotel, in addition, she is a charming and most obliging person, plus her husband, Michel, is equally gracious! Now, about our stay: we were in the Consul Suite, delightful, spacious, air-conditioned, very comfortable large bed, lovely linens, separate bathroom and toilet, extremely quiet, and bonus!! free strong Wifi! All rooms are excellent and air-conditioned which is a blessing! Our son had a beautiful room, in fact several more family members (5) changed their hotels and moved into the Clement V Hotel mid-way during their stay in Belves, and they were delighted that Muriel could accommodate them on such short notice; Muriel, with her "can-do attitude", made it happen--they were so pleased with the most charming and comfortable accommodation and her very warm welcome! A big thank-you to Natalie who, each day, looked after our room, fresh sheets, lovely towels, room cleaned like a new pin--and anything else we needed. Do enjoy the lovely breakfasts each morning, all kinds of fresh baked goods from the area, fruit juices, fruit compotes, wonderful jams and preserves, and an exceptional selection of black teas and coffees. In short, a brilliant way to start each day! Now, a word about the outstanding service which Muriel provided. She goes the extra long mile to help and assist, e.g. ironing my husband's linen jacket before the wedding, giving great directions, suggesting wonderful and unusual places to visit, booking train tickets to Paris for relatives in a jiffy--and doing all of this with such an obliging disposition, and, more importantly, with a smile! She looks after all her guests like this; her background was in the hospitality industry and it shows! Attention to detail is her "middle name!" She puts her guests first and foremost, from the moment they ring the Clement V Hotel's front door bell, to the moment they leave, with a genuine, warm and sincere goodbye at the same front door! So, dear traveller, if you want a special and lovely holiday, be it for a Dordogne wedding, a family celebration or a marvellous get-away--do stay at the The Hotel Clement V in the quaint village of Belves. This hotel is a real gem with extraordinary personal service and a warm welcome with a smile!

Responded Aug 4, 2015
Dear Irene, What can I say!? Even if we are more than happy when our guests do feel "at home" at the CLEMENT V, every word you said is or should be totally natural for a real hotelier. We have been more than pleased to share our property with you, to exchange daily with you and your family (even Yvonne), to indicate you some hidden places of our beautiful Périgord and you know what : I am really missing you, your daily good mood, your need to move...... I wish you and your family all the best and will certainly not forget you. A thousand thanks for everyhting Irene and "take care"! Muriel
