Termas de Papallacta is a Hot Springs SPA, Resort & Convention Center nestled in a majestic valley of the high Andes only 45 minutes driving from the new Quito Airport and 1 hour from Quito city. We are located at Km 65 on the way to Baeza following the Interoceanic road. Our resort is on the "Cinnamon Trail", the same route that the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Orellana took in 1542 when he crossed the Andean mountain range searching for gold and other treasures, and which unexpectedly led him to discover the Amazon River. Papallacta is the doorway to the Ecuadorian Amazon region, despite being in the Ecuadorian Highlands at an altitude of 10.827 feet (3.300 meters) above sea level and of an average daytime temperature of 14°C (57°F).

The mist descended gently leaving its cloud cloak above to cover the Pachamama below, moving through the trees and hills of the Andean highlands where grass-feed cattle roamed freely in fertile lands . Here, Abuelita Agua brought with Her an abundance of Health and Well-being while we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves inside a fantastic place called Termas Papallacta . The rain came from high above – from its origin in the clouds – precipitating towards the Earth and diving into the volcanic cauldron of the Chacana, which means “ladder” or “bridge-like object” in quechua . These waters traveled and navigated through subterranean layers until they broke through the earth – hot springs from the highlands – bringing with them minerals, elements and properties that were ideal for a full body rehabilitation, regeneration, rejuvenation and relaxation . In the afternoon, we walked through the garden and explored the secret trails cutting through the mountains. Upon returning, we enjoyed a cup of coffee with a dessert that was the ideal touch to end the day . The experience at Termas Papallacta was complete. We enjoyed the spa with first-class service, the accommodation with comfortable and spacious rooms, the hot springs pools with 24-hour access and a private restaurant with a buffet-style service • LODGING EXPERIENCE: Termas Papallacta Spa & Resort (@termaspapallacta) TEXT & PHOTOS: © DΛVΞ GΛRCIΛ ™ (@imdavegarcia). Top of the World and Personal !!! The accommodations are luxurious while also being charming and rustic. A nice price range of options makes this affordable for most. Top of the world NATURE with exotic birds, exotic water, and the haunting audacity of the Andes... which provide the heat for the thermal pools and the winds for experience. The food is exceptional in being wholesome, healthy, and using a variety of local and exotic sources. The iced guanabana X blackberry fruit juice is exqusite. The warmth and special attention of the staff are what DEFINE this place for me as a place I could call "home" away from home. GO EXPERIENCE THIS.

This review is for a day visit. I cannot comment on the overnight amenities. The bath are is amazing. There are multiple baths with varying temperatures and sizes throughout the property. To begin with there is security to get in and they check what is in your bag. The security could have been friendlier, but that is my only issue. The dressing rooms are indoors and are warm. It was cold outside so it felt great to be able to change indoors. There is plenty of room and the showers were great too. Once outside there are so many baths to visit and in various sections. I would not hesitate to go back. It is outside Quito. If you have private transportation they can take you to the entrance. If you choose public transportation there is a small stretch where you will probably want to get a ride (can walk but it's uphill). Great experience overall.

this is an enchanting place to soak in the hot springs pools that flow just outside our cabin door. the coca tea is a delightful way of being greeted after the picturesque journey to this high altitude hide away. if you plan on going be sure your agent books the chocolate massage on the onset of your tour so you don't miss out as i did. the hospitality and food are top notch.
