If you are outgoing, outward-looking, sociable and internationally-minded, you will love this beautiful B&B+. The rooms/apartments all have a simple rustic charm, totally in keeping with the building's history but carefully converted to give modern travellers everything they need. The hosts are also extremely welcoming and sociable - so many of their guests become friends, returning year after year. The focus is really the dining room where we had breakfast every day plus a totally memorable evening meal - everyone gathers around a shared, long traditional table, views and humour are liberally exchanged and conversation flows. Unforgettable! Thank you so much Ed & Mel - Vicky.
A charming hotel in the middle of nowhere. The small city Castellane with 1000 citizens in winter and 20000 in summer is in few km from the hotel. So if you search quietness and calmness outside civilization you should definitely come there. The hotel itself is completely civilized though: no problems with hot water or wi-fi, abundant breakfast with always fresh and crispy bread, etc. I loved all small details like lavender at the table or beautiful paintings on the wall. Hosts Ed and Melanie are very helpful, and it's amazing how quick they can switch from one language to another. I loved staying with them and I do recommend you to go to their beautiful house!
A host like you always dreamed of: friendly, who can speak many langages, and can make an entire group of up to 16 people feel welcomed and understood even if we don't all speak the same langage. Whether it's at breakfast or at a group dinner, this man knows how to please a crowd and keep the discussion moving forward. He is also a Harley Davidson biker, so many of us actually were bikers too (not the tough ghetto kinds, just the friendly kind of people to use a two-wheeler as a transportation device ^^). Our room was nice, but no door to the bathroom, how weird is that :p OK for a couple that is used to each other ; other than that, beware :) Not all rooms are this way, so just ask on the phone to be sure. I'll gladly be back there for the fun ambience.
The proprietors, Melanie and Ed were welcoming and made our stay very comfortable. Ed, a professional architect, has completely and tastefully redone an old structure, with what clearly is a labor of love. The Mas is set in a tranquil location, along the Verdon River, with lovely views of the surrounding valley. It is located within easy reach of the village of Castellane yet provides a bucolic rural experience.
A wonderful place to spend a few days relaxing in nature. The owners are really helpful and welcoming, the location is clean and accurate in every detail. Definitely recommended for those who love adventure and travel "on the road"
