#5 of 11 B&Bs / Inns in Castellane
The 'Gorges du Verdon' are known as the grand canyon of Europe, you'll find no bigger one in the world accept for the American one… After each and every turn there's a stunning view… Castellane is a little town, very charming and welcoming… Lots of lovely terraces where you can spend the evening… Bring a vest however because it gets cold when the sun is gone. There is plenty of choice in restaurants, for every budget… Our goal is to give people the chance to have a fantastic but affordable holiday! For sportsman there are plenty of choices Biking, rafting, abseilen, the roads are like heaven on earth for motorcycling… If you want to do some sightseeing, the road to Moustiers Saint-Marie brings you through the canyon with plenty of parking spaces where you can stop and be thrown away by natures beauty… Would you prefer to relax and get some tan? Only 5 km away, there is Lac de Castillon where you can lay down on the beach, rent a canoe or a pedal boat… If you're into hiking, then you should climb to our 'Notre-dame du Roc'… It's a 45 minute walk uphill but the view over Castellane is magnificent… If you want a real challenge, there is the Martel-trail. A six hour walk along the banks of the river Verdon, children and dogs are not allowed here because there is some climbing to do…

What amazing people, fabulous hosts and a truly great place to stay! Great accommodation, spacious room , powerful and hot shower, but most importantly .......outstanding personalities with Leo and Petra, very friendly , extremely helpful and overall wonderful people (Leo and Petra!) as hosts! They are genuine people who care about their guests and their lovely BnB! We were overwhelmed by their attention to detail during our stay ..... making sure we were happy! We loved our chats around the table with them . They have a wealth of knowledge and want you to thoroughly enjoy your stay with them and in Castellane. Ideal for numerous holiday makers : hikers, bikers and sight seeing individuals ! As we are motorbikers we would not hesitate to recommend them - ideal situ for town, and the wonderful roads and tours nearby! Keep up the fabulous work guys - your place is fabulous ! Xx

Petra and Leo are superb hosts, much more like generous caring friends than business operators. One of my best lodging experiences of any kind anywhere. They create a uniquely friendly environment where the guests interact with each other. They did a bunch of things to make our trip easier and more memorable (and refused payment) including doing our laundry, giving us two rooms when there was a vacancy, printing out train tickets and cracking beers with us. The rooms themselves are clean, pleasant, comfy and a great value for the price. Nice shower, good wifi. Superb value. Highly recommended. - Phil and Cory

Petra and Leo were the most hospitable bnb owners we have come across. It felt like home away from home. While we had originally tried to find accommodation in Moustiers, we were very glad to have stayed here instead. The breakfast and making friends with Hamlet is not to be missed.

Petra and Leo were the perfect hosts! They were very friendly and welcoming and provided good advice on restaurants and hiking in the beautiful Verdon area. The room we had was spacious and very clean. It's a 10 minutes (easy) walk from the center of town.

My boyfriend and I stayed with Petra and Leo several days ago. It was our best experience in Europe so far. They were kind enough to pick us up at the train station, give us tips for restaraunts, and hikes, and gave us a driving guided tour all the next day! And they were generous enough to provide a delicious local breakfast and drinks!! On the way out of town we accidently missed our bus and they jumped in the car and drove us 30 minutes into the mountains to chase our bus down! I cant imagine more generous hosts! We were only there for one day but we immediatly knew we need to come back. Love the location, and adore the people. All for a price that met the budget of poor college students. I am very grateful to have had this experience and met people like them. I couldnt reccomend it more.
