I found the Four Mile Beach Inn on Google and I knew it was exactly the kind of place we had been looking for. We wanted somewhere for three nights that we could use as a base to explore the northern area of Cape Breton and this lovely old house was the right answer. It has a great sense of...

What a lovely old place! It's a wee bit off the beaten path, but that's kind of nice, too. The inn is set in an old general store, and the history of the place is still very much on display. Our room was cozy, clean and comfortable. John & Janet whipped up a very nice breakfast with freshly baked breads,...

This Inn located 7 kms north of Cape North in Sugarloaf Village offers a value accommodation with its picturesque setting and the warmth of the owners, Janet and John who take great pride in the lengthy history of the building and amenities that match its structure. Our room was very comfortable and quiet and was a needed refuge after our...

We stayed at the inn last night and we were sad to leave this morning. Janet and John were wonderful hosts- they welcomed us with open arms, told us the history of their inn and offered assistance with our further plans on the island. The room was quaint and it was unique as it was dressed up in old fashioned...

We chose the Four Mile Beach Inn as our "base camp" for hiking the Cabot Trail and spent 3 nights in Room #1. John and Janet were very helpful throughout the reservation process (4 months prior to our planned vacation) and were warm and welcoming upon our arrival. They provided information about (and directions to) hiking locations and "must see"...

Nice period building nicely situated at the top of the Cabot Trail (about half way) Big rooms with ensuites, but the place is a bit eclectic and maybe not for everyone. The Inn is not luxurious but very true to the period. Four Mile Beach is just up the road and is a lovely spot for a walk or picnic....

Nestled up north on Cape Breton Island is a wonderful getaway for those looking to escape the bustle of the city. Janet and John are warm and engaging and made our stay a memorable one. There's lots of things to do if adventure is your thing or if relaxing is what you like, that's the place for you. The house...

My girlfriends and I stayed at the Four Mile Beach Inn in July 2012 and had a fabulous time. This Inn is so "real" and Janet and John were truly great hosts - providing us with personalized recommendations for hiking, whale watching and other outdoor activities. The breakfasts were superb. We enjoyed every minute of our 3 day stay. I...

We made a reservation here several months in advance and a day before arrival we got an email that they were closing and cancelling our reservation but called a local b & b on our behalf! This was not exceptable in an area where cell phones do not always work and internet is sketchy. Will never try to stay there...

We deeply regret our cancellation of ths reservatiion. We had a very serious emergency family situation to deal with and had no option but to cancel. We would never do this under normal circumstances. As soon as we learned of the situation we contacted the intended visitors to let them know and made arrangements with another inn operator close by...

Our three-night stay in September at Four-Mile Beach Inn proved to be a five-star experience for us in many ways. The inn, brimming with authentic Cape North general-store and domestic decor from other eras, is historic in the best sense of the word. Travelers who enjoy discovering the "feel" and memorabilia of local history as it was once lived will...
