Awesome fishing gem with wonderful accommodations, food & hosts. Be sure not to be afraid of spiders - they're aplenty...but that is the "bush"! Will definitely visit again! (PS Should you wish to get there via Witsands pontoon, be sure to check if its in operation before arriving at the pontoon & it's not working... It will add hours to...

We stayed here two nights as part of our birdwatching trip with Birding Ecotours. What an amazing location on the banks of the Breede River. We were in room 4 with a lovely veranda, nice outside seating overlooking the river. Nice large room and bathroom. Plenty of storage space, safe in wardrobe, chairs to relax in. Filtered water in jug,...

Stayed for one night as part of a birding tour. Enjoyed the scenery on the drive along the river to the lodge. Beautiful setting to watch the sunset. Dinner (grunter caught that morning) and breakfast the next day were delicious and filling. In the morning, we enjoyed watching all the birds at the feeders. The rooms were spacious and comfortable....

When we arrived we were given the choice of two different rooms, both nice, but eventually chose the one with a stunning view over the river and at the time a gorgeous sunset! The dinner as well as the breakfast the next morning were very delicious and plentiful. For those who love fishing and remoteness this must be heaven. No...

We stayed here for just one night as part of an organised tour. I didn't know what to expect, and it is hard to picture the setting and outlook of the place. The cottages are a little basic, and we did get a few insects in the room including the huge rainforest spiders (frightening, but harmless!). But the view is...

We stayed at this Lodge for 2 night and 3 days. The dirt roads leading you to the Mudlark aren't really that bad... But it's a good 70km!. Don't let this put you off, one you reach this tranquil lodge, it will all be worth it. Hillary and Tim made us feel extreamly welcome from the off. The views from...

I would return to Mudlark River Lodge tomorrow. I loved the peacefulness and I especially loved Hilary's delicious food. The room was clean & comfortable and had the most fabulous view over the river. I witnessed some of the most stunning sunsets I've ever seen. You need to be aware of the fact that there is about 70kms of ground...

We arrived just as the sun was setting and load shedding due any minute! We were provided with lanterns which made getting ready for dinner an experience. Dinner was vegetarian tart, followed by fish. Was asked what I wanted for dinner the following evening and I asked them to surprise me as am willing to try anything, we were served...

Mudlark is really difficult to reach, onto 70km of gravel road, and there is nothing besides the mudlark lodge. When we wanted to check in they said we were too early, check in was only from 2pm. We were there at 12.30. Also we informed for the fishing activity as we loved to experience that, or some other activities and...

We spent three nights in the Mudlark Riverfront Lodge during our trip to South Africa in February 2015. Our room was # 4, having a private sundeck overlooking the river. A great place for relaxing, reading and/or having a bottle of wine at sunset. We loved watching the many birds, the Lodge is located in a beautiful garden which turns...

“Room 1 & 2 are the smaller rooms, but still had more than enough space for us, 3 & 4 are almost twice the size of 1 & 2, if you really like space around you. Room 5 is also a large room, but set aside and very private. All the rooms however are stylishly decorated, have their own outside sitting areas and met our requirements two times over.”
