The Merendero family restaurant is run by la mamma and her sons = very friendly guys speaking very well English! The food is fantastic, the wines from the Amelia area excellent! this restaurant is by far the best in the broader area, very well worth calling the family and reservering a table! the starters are surprising and delicious, the Chianina...

Just visited the accomodation which are very good for a quiet vacation. Nice chalets set in the middle of the wood. There is a nice swimming pool but, on top of everything they have their own produce and animals: Chianina cows, deers, wild boars, hens and so on. they will take you to search for truffles with their trained dogs....

This is an area of Umbria not seen as being on the itineries of the English speaking world. However, if you want to visit Umbria and become part of the local landscape, this area is worth an extended visit. Amelia feels and looks like the real Italian village/town complete with it's authentic, non tourist walled town. And the place to...

Recommended by our agriturismo, Tara, we visited this little restaurant in the woods. It was wonderful from start to finish. Simple set menu of typical Umbrian fare - mixed meats, cheeses, vegetables as starter, lovely creamy pasta with truffle, steak with vegetables and potatoes. We were too full to try the dessert - but others said the truffle ice cream...

In a wonderful location, easily reacheable from Amelia by car (15 mins), the Surripa farm was for us a great surprise. Not only was the place in itself very beautiful -- a farm within a natural reserve with wild animals and hectars of bush, a greatly restored farm and a characteristic restaurant-shed -- but the service offered was also excellent...

The location is stunningly beautiful, the house is a really beautiful, authentic stone house with all comodities and it stays cool all day, so no need for airconditioning. The pool area is nice, vast and best of all, it is fenced. Fausto and Francesca are extremely friendly and helpful, took us to see the deer and the wild boar, truffle...

We had a lovely evening here. Surripa is situated deep in the woods and is like a hunting lodge, a lovely stone cut building, very atmospheric. Food was fabulous, enormous starters, great pasta with truffle, the best we had during our two week holiday. Wine also really, really good. Meal for 3 was 51 euro!. We will certainly return.
