We are repeat customers at Chalets Nid du Heron. We have stayed at the cottages for the month of July during the past 3 years. Born and raised in the area, I can tell you that mostly everything is nearby. There is also an airport only 45 min away with daily flights to Montreal, which can be very handy. The...

Mariette, Thanks for taking the time to write this wonderful review about the property and the staff! We really appreciate the business and look forward to seeing the whole family every summer either at the pub or just hanging around the property or at the beach. I saw your booking and I've already ordered good weather for your stay next...

Last weekend we were at the Heron's Nest. We stayed one night (my husband, me and our small dog.) We paid $250.00 for the night. Although that seemed like a lot of money we thought we were going to have beach-front accommodations. However, the cabins are across a busy street from the Bay. so its not exactly beach front. The...

We try to keep our rates competitive for the high season in comparison to other similar establishments in the province, and do charge a 25$ + tax fee for pets. Sorry to hear you found us a little pricey. Glad you appreciated the front desk staff as they do work very hard to make our guests feel welcomed. We like...

Took a chance on these little off the beaten path cottages and we were not disappointed. The location is only 5 minutes off the highway, 5 minutes from a well stocked store, 15 minutes from a grocery store and 30 minutes from Sugarloaf provincial park (which is beautiful!). The cottages are clean and well equipped, towels and linens are provided...

Thanks for the great review and the constructive criticism! We do our best to keep the cottages well maintained. We're constantly touching up the paint, but the regular wearer and tear of the spring and summer take its toll. But we'll be looking into your cottage specifically to get it up to standard. All the screens in every cottage were...

We stayed in June, which is perhaps before they open normally. The accommodations were a little rustic, but what expected. The shower had the hot and cold reversed, so I never got a shower on the first day. It could be cleaner and obviously there had been smokers there previously. It does overlook the bay and would have a nice...

Sorry you didn't appreciate your stay with us. We have fixed the hot and cold water issue and as far as the smoking, we repainted the whole cottage and believe the problem is resolved. First time we receive a negative comment about the cleanliness of our cottages, so I was a little surprised. Beds are firm. We are gradually replacing...

We found this place on a rained out camping night. New neat clean lots of room if we were a larger group. Price was right. The best part... There is a small pub attached to the office (seating for 20?). We happened to stay on open mike night which was a blast. The bar tender was absolutely the life of...

Hey Jim, Thanks for the great comments! Dan is the man (owner/operator/bartender/musician/entertainer). Don't know where he gets all the energy! Glad you enjoyed the cottage and our little pub, where we hope everyone feels welcomed! We're open year round, did anyone say snowmobiles ? Thanks again, Marc

A great vacation spot, close to all amenities. Staff was very courteous. The only thing I would suggest is having a bit a maintenance done inside. Front door stuck alot, along with bathroom door. Bathroom fan was not working, We did have someone come in and try to fix the doors to no avail. They were still not working when...

Shelley, You're right about the maintenance in a few of the cottages, and that will be taken care of this fall. We know which ones need some TLC. Sorry about that. Also right about the AC... seems we used to need it about 1 week a year, but summers are getting nicer and warmer and on the second floor of...

This location is basically like a strip mall crossed with a subdivision. No privacy, right on the main road across from a rocky beach. The noise starts at 6:00 AM with back up beeps from trucks. The trash was collected at 5:30 AM by a big noisy truck right outside our cottage. Not a very relaxing vacation spot. There is...

Sunny Sally, Sorry you didn't like our area at all. We had a few workers staying with us this summer and yes they do get to work early, sorry for the inconvenience.... for the garbage truck, well that's once a week and out of our control. And the road has a bit of traffic, but seriously we're in a village......

The cottages were great for our family of 6. Plenty of space and all the amenities of home. We stayed here while attending a sports training event. This allowed us to cook our meals instead of eating out. We would defintely stay here again.

In the area on vacation with another family (that had their own cottage). We are a family of five plus a dog and we stayed in cottage 11, which is an a-frame one bedroom cottage plus loft, which included three single beds. There is a small but full kitchen, that comes well equipped with anything you might need and otherwise...

Glad to hear you really enjoyed your family vacation with us! It is a wonderful area to discover with kids, and the clamdigging is truly an unforgettable experience. We'll be adding different activites in the next couple of years. Hope to see you guys again. Maybe some mackerel fishing next time :)

Our group was performing in Dalhousie and the presenters arranged a 2 bdrm cottage for us at the Heron's Nest.
