The best thing about this motel was that the proprietor did help guests get to and from certain venues and events in Shelburne. This is necessary because [IMPORTANT TIP] there is no taxi service in Shelburne. The closest taxis are in Orangeville and they charge $50 just to come to Shelburne. This is an old motel building and it is showing its age. The rooms were fairly clean, and included air conditioning and a small fridge. The bathroom fixtures seem newer than the rest of the motel. There was a slightly stale odor in our room when we first entered, but it seemed to go away. There were time restrictions on when room changing/towel exchange could happen, but it wasn't a major issue. Aside from the washrooms in the rooms, the rooms and the building appear very old and worn. They need serious overhaul/improvement/renovation. The "front desk"/storefront also needs work. At present there is barely a distinguishable "front desk." It felt more like we were walking into the storage room of a restaurant that served a lot of very spicy curry foods (a very strong smell of that sort was detected). We were charged a different rate than friends who were also staying there during the same time. Be sure to double-check all details of the reservation by telephone, including cancellation policy (48 hrs).

It doesnt look like much from the outside but the rooms have been recently renovated inside and the couple who runs it is very friendly. They were new beds, new bathrooms and hot water.
nothing fancy but clean. quiet and no fees for having a pet!!
great for pet owners (they have a great little green area for walking them)

For an older motel it wasn't that bad. The room and bedding was clean and there were no odd smells. The first impression I got was that the room was quite small and that the beds looked crammed into the room. The bathroom was also very small with just a pedestal sink instead of a vanity.

When I sat on the bed however, it felt like sitting on a park bench. I was still optimistic about our choice of motel, till we went to bed. Not only was the bed hard it had a big dip in the middle. Between the big dip and the hard mattress my wife and I had such a horrible time trying to get some sleep. By morning we both got about 2 or 3 hours sleep.

We had other family members and relatives staying in other rooms at this motel and some said their beds were ok and others said their beds were very hard also. One of them said their room smelled musty.

If it wasn't for the hard bed this place would not be that bad for an older motel. But getting some sleep was the whole point of renting a motel room.

We stayed there to attend a local Auction. In the winter rooms are very cold. HUGE draft coming in from under and around door. We had to put all ourwinter jackets and luggage around the door to keep the draft out. It was clean and bathroom had been somewhat updated
Staff was nice. I would stay here again but would ask to see room first. Not in walking distance of town but there is fast food and resturants close by.

We booked through Expedia but when we arrived we were kept waiting for an inordinate amount of time as the front desk could not find our booking. Shabby, uncomfortable and stained. Keep driving if you know what's good for you. $95 rate was ridiculous for a horrible night. You have been warned.

If possible keep driving. The water is scorching hot and if your in the shower the neighbour flushing a toilet will cook your skin off. Oh it tastes like dirt too. Price is reasonable but not great value.

I agree with previous reviews. Our room was clean and smelled fine. Our heater worked great, maybe too well as it got pretty hot. Not a lot of noise during the night. Heater fan was quiet, but bathroom fan was really loud and turned on with the light. Beds were comfortable, but the hotel only has double beds available, no queens at all apparently. DĂ©cor is definitely out of date. WiFi wouldn't work because of weak signal. Might have better luck with a room closer to the office. We had a dog with us which worked out just fine. Our room had a small fridge and microwave in it.

At $70 per night it is a decent small motel. Furniture are not up to date but the bed was confortable and the batchroom was recenly renovated. Fridge, Microwave, Large TV and WIFI are the strong points. The accept pets, which was convinent for us. No breakfast included.

We stayed here for 2 nights during a recent dog show. Would love to give it 4 1/2 stars but there are some issues which keep it from being that. Lots of positives though.

When we first drove up our initial thought was ugh....very dated and not too nice looking from the outside. When we opened up the door and went in we were VERY impressed with how clean the room was (didn't smell of smoke which was awesome). The room was very dated although it is clear that updating and modernizing attempts are being made. There was a new heating/ac unit and the bathroom had been updated. The pillows sucked (flat and hard) but the bed was very comfy. The bathroom updates were nice but no place to put our toiletries and the bathroom is very small. There is a small fridge which was great. Rooms are small and as with all Canadian accomodations the price is high for not a lot ($70.00/night). We will go back but we do hope they continue to upgrade and modernize this motel.

"Be sure to check with the staff when you call about their cancellation policy. It is 48 hrs, which - should you inspect the room and decide to leave - leaves you in an awkward conversation with the staff. There is no website for this hotel, so all such information is supposed to be conveyed by telephone."
