My wife, son and I took advantage of Volvo European Delivery (V60) two summers ago. Sweden, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Denmark, Sweden. My wife had to fly back to the states early for work. We dropped her off in Stockholm to fly home and son and I hit Gotland with absolutely no plans in mind. We went North from Visby...

Sure wish that the customer base was bigger, a pity that FF only stays open a few summer months.I think it would be magical with a autumn or winter evening on barren Fårösund. FF with its unique history, architecture.A hotel like this would be fully booked around the clock in a city. They gastronomic excesses have subsided, but perhaps they will...

Fantastic location overlooking the strap of water between mainland Gotland and the small island of Fårö. Very comfortable room, tastefully decorated with Gotlandic materials such as the beautiful stone floors, lamb skins, details in woodwork, tabletop of stone. Then, contrasting textiles, reminding of an Arabian experience in the desert. So different a place to stay at: a former fortress! Right...

First the practical side. This hotel is built in an old fort which is part of a string of fortifications. It is modern and pleasant with lots of light. It is about 2.5 km out of town / from the bus stop and the ferry to Faro. A car is best but taxis are available if you take the bus...

After four days in bustling Stockholm, we arrived on the tranquil island of Gotland. Somewhat apprehensive about staying in a converted fortress, I was taken aback by the beautiful setting and airy atmosphere of Farosunds Fastning. With only 16 rooms in this family run hotel, you are treated to a warm welcome and personal service. Peter and Cecilia are charming...

Arrived late (around 11.30pm) on the bus from Visby and the owner picked us up from Farosund. The entire staff were very helpful but most helpful of all was Peter the owner, who went out of his way on several occasions to ensure our stay was enjoyable. He helped arrange a cheap car hire from a local company when we...

The hotel has a stunning location right by the ocean. Its situated in an old fort and therefore, partially, is located below ground. This gives the hotel a special feeling but also generates some problems. For example, the only daylight in the rooms are from windows 3-4 meters above ground meaning you wont be able to see the ocean from...

As soon as I got out of the car I was struck by how peaceful the area is. I remember that I was almost blown away by a surreal feeling of calm. This gorgeous and unique hotel was lovely for a weekend getaway from Stockholm in the late summer. We truly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very small and...

Perfect for relaxing with your spouse! Food, service and the surroundings is pure magic. Some of the dishes might be only for extreme meat lovers (raw meat, bone marrow spicying etc) but overall great local food and presentation. The "oxlägg" (oxen, pickled beef? Not sure of the english name) for two persons (sek 600) was the best main course I...

Beautiful nature, modern stylish building. Calm. Rooms comfortable, nice lounging chairs in the patio. Breakfast nice, though no fresh tea or coffee. Strong ventilation noise from kitchen disturbing when eating on terrace. Tiny pool, no good swimming in the sea nearby.
