Spent a weekend here. The drive to the castle was very scenic, specially like the small village Röttle nearby with a small but beautiful waterfall. A pleasant surprise! We stayed in one of the two suites, suite #1. Very roomy and quite nicely decorated, though the walls were made of canvas so be careful and not pressing it. The bathroom...

Me and my entourage (6 friends and 2 babies) stayed for one night and absolutely loved it! This castle has a extremely well preserved atmosphere and interior, not new and over designed but more of a genuine feeling. We stayed in three rooms in the actual castle and each room had its own expression. I stayed in room nr. 2...

Have stayed at Västana Slott on several occasions and every single time I was impressed by the super friendly service, the outstanding food and the comfort. This is Swedish country life at its very best.

Historical place next to Golf course (a wedge from the clubhouse) with very nice and family like patron. Nicely decorated rooms and very clean. And the food, the food! Simply brilliant and perfect wine pairings at really reasonable prices. This time with my family, two younger kids who loved the Castle experience knights armour and all! Can also recommend Gränna...

Vastana slott is owned by the noble family of von Otter. As a curiosity, the owner of Vastana was formerly required to change his name to Gyllensvaan until 1967! One of the potential title holders wanted to avoid this so badly that he ran away to Kenya and died there. There is a large monument in his honour in the...

What an incredible place! Upon arrival, the host poured us some libations and invited us upstairs to relax and look around. This place should be a museum! The photos I provide with this review cannot do the property justice. The fact that you can walk around all the art and antiques with no one supervising your visit, is unbelievable! Our...

Västanå Slott is one of Sweden’s best preserved castle estates. The castle was built in 1590 and has operated as a family hotel since 1948. Västanå Slottshotell is located close a few kilometres south of Gränna off the E4 motorway on the eastern side of the magnificent Lake Vättern. The Västanå Slottshotell also rents out two historic houses in the...

The castle is romantic, comfortable and stuffed with period touches. The rooms are filled with antiques and there are no phones or televisions in the rooms, so probably not a great place those with young children, but an ideal place for a couple. The candles, armour, art, antiques and carved wooden details make you feel like you are in

We arrived to the castle on a dark and stormy night after a trip on a winding narrow road up the hill. Lots of candles, armour, old paintings and dark furniture gave the place a very special atmospehere. Our room, number 1, in the castle was really something special. Not for anyone who likes a modern touch if I may...

We spent two nights at this hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday. We intentionally booked rooms in the main building despite the higher prices because we wanted to get the "family" feel of the place. The rooms were individually decorated in a very charming and personal way. It's a pity that the bed linen and the bathroom did not live...

“Room 1 in the castle is very romantic with a real feeling of being in a historic house. This room is spacious with old furniture, I heard from other guests that the newly decorated rooms are just as nice, maybe not so big as number 1. Bath tub, no TV. Floors can be cold, slippers are recommended.”
