Great place, great place and owner.
There is no sign of that old guy mentioned in some bad reviews. The owner and others are so kind and hospitable. The prices are so nice. Traditional foods are so delicious with very good prices. I recommend this place for going to the mountains for ski touring. Hiking, mountain climbing and canyoning. There are so many potential adventures around.

The hotel is nestled in a beautiful location with a river in the gorge and snow capped mountains all around. The small village nearby is quaint with lovely people.
The hotel is run by two brothers who have charisma and charm but haven't quite sussed how to run a hotel. For example, they forgot to put sheets, towels and soap in our room... but rectified it quickly.
There has been some efforts to modernise the hotel, new bathrooms and electrics where light switches might be one day.But you don't come hee to stay in your room .. location, location, location !

Navizar hotel is probably one of the best places to stay in Alamut Valley. The hotel has clean rooms with toilet and good beds. The owner and his family are very friendly and open to help.
There are not so many things to do in Garmaroud but after visiting Alamut Valley, is the best place to stay in the area for 1 or 2 nights and then continue up to the mountains. There are some good hikes around the hotel.
It is important to arrive early or make a reservation with time because on holidays, it gets full fast.

We stayed at the Navizar hotel for 2 nights. The rooms are ok with a gorgeous
view on the surrounding mountains. The food is good and reasonably priced. The location is perfect for hiking trips in Alamut valley. The owner speaks good English and runs a mountain camping for overnight stays (we could not do this, due to our further travel arrangements). We continued our journey up north to Ramsar. We drove the mountain pass to the Caspean Sea with our rental car. The route doesn’t require a 4x4 drive, but care should be taken during rainy weather conditions, since the dirt road can get very muddy and slippery.

We have stayed at the Navizar for three nights. Wish we could stay longer... Had a wonderful time thanks to the brothers, who made sure we all fell in love with the Alamut Valley, their paternal village and their home cooking :)
Hotels, are great because of the facilities they offer or the service they provide. Navizar deserves the "excellent" rating because of the latter. The rooms are clean and simple, there is no mobile network (MTM Irancell) and no internet. What could be viewed as shortcomings by some, is more than compensated by the stories the brothers tell, the food they cook and the walks they recommend. One of our best experiences in Iran.
On day one, Ahmad Afshin Far (one of the brothers) organized a local driver, who took us first to the Alamut Assasin Castle, then for lunch with his family and in the afternoon to the Caravan Serai at 3200 m. The last part we chose to walk, while he waited to drive us back. A superb day.
On day two, Ahmad drew us a map for the trek - about 20 km, first going up into the mountains for the views, then coming down to see two villages (first simple, the second idillic) and returning to the hotel by road along the river.
On day three, we had to leave, while we dreamed of climing to see the ruins of the Navizar Castle...
We would also like to thank Ahmad's son, who guided us over the phone on how to get to Garmaroud Sina without spending a bomb - we used a combination of shared taxis from Tehran Western Bus Terminal to the roundabout of Qazvin for 15k tuman and another one to the hotel for 25k tuman.

Where you can find such a mysterious place in Iran ???
Best place in terms of relaxation and Friendship services provided by Afshinfar family.
Nice and different view from each room.
Clean and secure place with delicious local foods.
I suggest to visit for one time at least.
You will pass all types of nature during the road that starts with qazvin land to mountain and jungle and finally Caspian Sea.

Hotel Navizar isn't a 5 star hotel but considering its location and hospitality I couldn't give it any less. The brothers who own the hotel have put years of effort into building it and it's one of the only options if you want to stay in the valley and off the beaten track, so I'm thankful it exists! They are very warm and welcoming and although communicating in English is a struggle we had a lot of laughs and shared great stories. The rooms are huge and have amazing views from a balcony, where I sat and read my book for hours. It's pretty clean and comfortable. The dinners were great, especially the river fish sourced locally.
I recommend staying here at least 2 nights so you can have a full day hiking around the area. The guest book is full of useful hiking tips - we hiked to the waterfall and to Narmalut in a day and the views are spectacular. Head into town in the late afternoon and near the mosque all the local men sit around drinking freshly brewed tea, which they will offer you. A great experience of local village life!
We had a wonderful time at Hotel Navizar, it's definitely worth the effort to get there (call ahead and arrange for their recommended taxi driver to pick you up in Qazvin). You'll be rewarded with few tourists, a peaceful stay with warm hospitality and dramatic views.

After a long and tough journey from isfahan there was a really warm welcome here at the navizar hotel.
The rooms were big and comfortable, the shower nice and hot and the food delicious. But that's not what i'll remember most of our stay in the Allamut valley. What's really special about this place is the quiet and relaxed atmosphere and the friendly people. I really enjoyed sharing stories and experiences with other guests and the owner about different cultures, countries and perspectives on life. We got invited by people from the village to their homes which was also really nice. And ofcourse i won't forget the impressive views and walks through the valley.
Some practical things:
Taxi from qazvin: about €25-35, you'll have to motivate a driver to drive all the way to Garmarud, but it's worth the effort
The hike to caravansarai is very nice, consider taking a taxi for the first part to Pichebon. Have a lunch or snack there on the way back.
Everybody leaves the village in wintertime (starting from November), so if you consider to come in winter time, make a phone call in advance
