Three couples stayed at this lovely hotel after a wonderful day visiting Monet's Garden. Stephanie was extremely helpful introducing us to the hotel and Les Andelys. She highlighted Chateau Gillard and its history. Additionally, she served us a wonderful evening meal - just perfect. The hotel would make a wonderful evening stop for car clubs as they drive along La...

This hotel is just south of Rouen and not far from Monet's Giverney. We enjoyed our stay here, having already stayed here years ago. View from the hotel overlooking the Seine is very attractive. Simple but comfortable rooms. A traditional restaurant serving good food, which is a bit pricey. Dogs allowed. Car parked in the hotel's own closed courtyard.

I have wanted to stay in this divine little village for such a long time and finally did last October. Have always wanted at this hotel even though it has mixed reviews. It is a little tired. Not enough attention is paid in the upkeep of the rooms. Really needs some refurbishment. Just a freshen up would be something. The...

The Hotel is quaint, authentic, comfortable and clean. Everything you need from a hotel... however, the price for the rooms is quite high for the standard, as the decor was old, the breakfast is not included (although it was just bread, butter/cheese and supermarket yogurt), and the service is just regular B&B standard... being in the country side as well,...

We considered this to be a real find on our trip to Les Andelys. There were probably only one or two other people staying here, because of the season, so we almost felt e were in a private residence. Again, because of the low season, the staff disappeared on Sunday, after breakfast, so we could not, for example, get ice...

Lovely hotel with beautiful ambiance. Excellent, courteous and helpful service. Award winning restaurant where we had delicious meals, in magical location, overlooking the Seine. Dinner was one of highlight meals on our 10 day France trip. Located in charming French town which is quiet and quaint, right on banks of the Seine.

Go for the evening dinner but stay somewhere else, the hotel itself was a big let down for my wife and I when we stayed for 2 nights. I'd definitely recommend looking elsewhere if staying in the area but absolutely book for dinner as the food is magnifique! The hotel needs some modernisation, the staff could be a little cheerier,...

A one night stop over going south. A charming part of the town on the Seine and very peaceful watching the river and large boats pass by. The hotel has a good secure courtyard car park and is strategically located overlooking the river. The rooms are quaint but very roomy and ours had a great first floor set of windows...

The hotel is located on the banks of a particularly attractive stretch of the Seine which can be viewed from the dining room and some of the more expensive bedrooms. The front opens on to a large quiet square with ample parking should the secure (free) parking in the hotel courtyard be full. We stayed for four nights in one...

So lucky to receive this gift but MY choice was super. Set alongside the river, both the room and the evening meal were superb. There was a river cruise which docked nearby and we heard American voices who were looking forward to visiting the town.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Chaîne d’Or gets her name from the history of the 18 th century, when the house was considered as a toll house. A large chain was crossing the Seine river between the rives and the island. Each boat that wanted to cross the river from La Havre to Paris had to pay a toll. The king was getting so much money from this toll, that people were telling that it was a “golden chain”. La Chaine d’Or has been successively an auberge, an hotel, and a coffee shop, just in front of the church, where men were meeting while their wifes were in the church. After world war 2nd, the Boirel family proposed a traditionnal cuisine, which was very appreciated from the local guests. Monsieur Boutineau went on with this tradition. Several years later, Monsieur et Madame Foucault, as new owners, decided to propose a gastronomic restaurant and with the help of the Chef, Monsieur Chevalliez, they obtained a Star from the famous Michelin Guide. When the chef left to buy his own restaurant, Madame Foucault sold la Chaîne d’Or which had a difficult time for a while.Today, Stephanie and Olivier Bicot, their team and the Chef Philippe Lallier are very proud to welcome you and to share their passion for the French gastronomy. ... more   less
