Detailed Reviews
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in late August while visiting family in the area.
L'Ambassadeur is a well established hotel in Amqui. While not recent, it's clean and well maintained. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing towards the back of the property, away from busy highway 132. It had a queen bed and a separate sitting area with TV and desk on the other side of a low wall - like a junior suite. The bed was unfortunately a bit hard for my taste but my husband didn't mind it so your mileage may vary.
The bathroom had the toilet and shower together behind a door with the sink in a separate area within the room, which can be a time-saver as it allows 1 person to use the sink while someone else showers.
There was a safe, a coffee maker and a luggage stand in the room. The hotel has free parking (like most Québec hotels outside major cities) and offers a 240 V electric vehicle charging station that's complimentary for guest use. The town's fast charging electric vehicle charging station is 2 minutes away across the street.
There is a restaurant on site that normally offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. We had breakfast there on the Sunday morning but it was closed due to lack of staff on the Monday morning - a frequent occurrence in Québec these days.
Finally, no housekeeping service was offered during our stay due to Covid 19, something that seems to be standard in Québec these days.

Maurice & Gisele LeBlanc, Feb 16 to Feb 20th, 2023, room 217. We thank you for a great stay. The room was clean , comfortable and the staff was accommodating. The best compliment we can offer is the hotel policy of guests’ respect to others. We were there to ski at Val D’Irene therefore appreciated the quietness of our entire floor early in the evening. We could not have asked for better nights’ sleep. This was very much appreciated. This was our second stay in 2023. Looking forward to 2024. We love Amqui and their people. A la prochaine!!!

We were very disappointed not to be able to eat at the restaurant. WE were told our group was too big and they only had 16 year olds working in the kitchen. We went down the street and got a great supper and excellent service, in fact we ate there again the next night. We also ate elsewhere for breakfasts. When I mentioned at checkout that we didn't eat there the lady pointed to a paper on the counter and said we needed reservations, which we didn't know about and when I said I don't read french she said it was not her problem and turned away. Not the customer service we were expecting. We were the August 23 and 24th.

Clean. Comfy. Awesome restaurant on site. English spoken-no problem.
We stayed here one night as a stopover. Lovely little covered bridge in park right behind hotel.
Would definitely stay here again - on a return trip.

Snowmobilers BEWARE!!!!
Do not put your snowmobile in the "Secure" snowmobile garage. We payed for this service at this hotel, only to find it gives scum bags full access to steel your snowmobile at their connivence.
With back doors that open directly on to the trail and no security cameras to monitor the doors.
It is my opinion that the persons involved in this crime are in direct contact with people working with-in this hotel.
One of the 4 sleds was stolen and the 2nd had the ignition beat out of it.
The owner of the hotel was not helpful at all. Not even as much as a apology !!!
Nor did they report to the police they had a brake and enter on there property. That was left to us.
Just a heads up to all fellow snowmobilers.
This ruined our trip around the Gaspesie.

Response from Auberge A, Responsable relations clients at Auberge L'Ambassadeur
Responded Feb 24, 2014
Unfortunately, it was stolen, after the garage door was forced and broken, in circumstances out of our control. In spite of your statements, the Auberge l'Ambassadeur managers reacted as soon as they knew about the crime, helping you following steps, and meeting the policeman in charge of this case. Absolutely nothing allows us to tie down, directly or indirectly, one of our employees with this crime, and we consider your statements as being totally without foundation and libellous. Furthermore, we have been in business since 19 years, and such an incident never happened before. Of course, we do take account of your unfortunate experience and will carry on providing the best services to our custmers. The Direction

Anybody planning a trip snowmobile through Amqui Quebec. Do yourself a favour and only stop for gas.
After having one of our snowmobiles stolen
From the "secure garage" at the
Auberge L'Ambassadeur. The hotel didn't
even offer to help make arrangements to get the one stranded rider back to our vehicle.
Snowmobiles Beware!! Don't let this happen to you. It's not a good way to remember your trip.
Happy Snowmobiling!!

Night 3 we arrived in Amqui Quebec and had only 2 places from the travel book to choose from. One looked more like a B and B so we decided to stay at The Auberge L'Ambassadeur....
The outside looked very nice and clean.A BMW and Porche in the parking lot....must be ok....
Check in was good Again broken English and French but we got checked ok...so off to the room.....just off the lobby.Opened the door and we were hit with a smell of stale smoke and must....and it was HOT! I really think it was the last room in the place.
Turned on the lights (which were those horrible curly energy savers) and opened a window for some fresh air.The room was two tone pink walls, 70's white washed beat up furniture faded (maybe they were pink at one time) orange cabbage rose curtins. And Im not sure if the rug was dark green or black it was so worn.
Well the book said it was a 3 star! And Im sure that was pushing it! We could have left and maybe should have but it was late and the next place was a drive away. Got into bed then just left the next morning for home...
The next day at home I checked TA to see what others had said about this place and was SHOCKED!! to see the lovely pictures someone had posted of this very hotel....wish I had taken some of the room we had....must have been a different wing or something.
The desk clerk told us this hotel is being used by the workers setting up all the wind turbines....and is usually booked solid..we must have gotten one of those rooms...

Stayed over 2 nights on a weekend.
Hotel on main highway caters to groups of older motorcyclists, and in the winter snowmobile enthusiasts. Close to the International portion the the Appalachian Trail so of interest to "tired hikers" in need of a good rest.
Room away from the highway was very comfortable and quiet. All the amenities of an independent hotel.

My daughter and I were travelling through this area and decided that by the time we hit Amqui, we had had enough for the day and wanted to find a place to stay.
Purely on spec, we cruised by and thought it looked OK. We had a dog with us, so we needed a pet friendly room, which they were able to provide.
We were very pleased with our room. We were able to park right outside our room and the room itself was spacious, clean and bright.
There is a licensed restaurant on site, so we had both our dinner and breakfast there because it was easiest. Both were quite good and they let us sit right by the patio door so that we could have our dog outside, but pretty close to us.
We really liked our stay and would recommend it.
