It a great place to start a museum and history tour in normandy. The landlord was very helpful and knows the hotspots. The place is kept clean and tidy, also the breakfast is nice because you'll be taking it with other guests and prepared by the landlord couple.
Benoit and Marie-Agnes were amazing hosts. So welcoming and helpful! They greeted us with the best apple cider ever, and sat with us and discussed the area, even providing us our own brochures and maps! The breakfast was fantastic, I would drive back 5 hours just to visit and eat Marie's bread and jellies and butter. Such a relaxing and beautiful property, spacious and clean and comfortable. We will never forget sleeping with the windows open and the beautiful sounds and breezes. Great location for an easy drive to all the sites we wanted to visit. We would love to go back! Thank you Marie-Agnes and Benoit!
The Domaine de la Cour Vautier is located in the tiny town of Mandeville en Bessin in the countryside about 9 miles west of the large city of Bayeux in Normandy. It is about 5 miles south of Omaha Beach. When we arrived, we were greeted by Marie-Agnes and Benoit. We sat at a table in their lovely garden and shared a bottle of cider from their orchard while we got an overview of the whole Normandy area. We got suggestions on where to eat, what to see and what to do during our visit. They gave us maps, brochures and business cards for the area. A fully equipped kitchen is provided for guests who would prefer to cook their own meal (outside of Bayeux restaurants are scarce in the area) and eat inside or on the lovely patio. Breakfast consists of freshly baked breads, fruit spreads, cereals, and hot and cold beverages.…
Our family stayed with Benoit and Marie-Agnes for only a night and truly regretted we did not stay longer. We were greeted by both with apple cider and umpteen maps and pamphlets of the area and wonderful suggestions on how to spend our single day in Normandy. The rooms were nicely updated and clean, the bathroom a regular size, the beds comfortable. Everyone had the best sleep of the trip here. The house is amazing, a true snapshot of life on a Normandy farm, we had sheep and apple trees outside our window. The house is 10 minutes from the D-Day beaches or 15 minutes from Bayeaux which has good dinner spots. Words cannot express how amazing the warm fresh brioche bread and homemade jams are at breakfast, also BEST coffee of the trip!
We stayed again with Marie-Agnès and Benoít Spriet and found Domaine De La Cour Vautier just as charming a second time. For travelers during the height of D-Day visits (month of June and on), you will find this B&B outside of the crush of traffic, but close enough to easily visit all the key sites. Highly recommended.
